I have 2- 50mm poles. I am no where near good. Just not putting enough time into it. I am 5'4" about 120-125lbs, small hands. Do you think I should try a 45mm pole or even a 40mm? Are the smaller poles easier? Not that I think poling is easy by no means :) Please let me know what you all think. Thanks, Karrie

The Studioveena pole is a great pole for new dancers. It's a 45mm pole and this is the size I suggest for new dancers. The finish on our pole is also nice for new dancers. LM is my favorite grip...and 45 is the most popular diameter at this time.
This is just my opinion, but if your fingers will touch on a 45mm pole, then it is a good transition. Going from a 50 to a 40 might be a little awkward, especially if you are still working on thigh holds.

I've heard 45mm is better if you have small hands or just for stronger hand grip in general, but may not be as comfortable in thigh-grips and leg hangs. I'm 5'10" with monster hands and legs so I prefer my 50mm. Tried a 45 a couple of times and felt like I could snap it in half if I tried hard enough. (not saying I could but, still, I don't like feeling too big for my pole to handle.)
personally, I find knee hangs easier on smaller poles. Thigh holds are awkward initially, but that quickly goes away once you figure it out.
