Oh I love my MIL.....maybe she was confused....because "Studio Veena lessons" sounds a LOT like new pots and pans doesn't it ? Not being ungreatful because they are pretty nice and I do need them...but I wanted Veena lessons !!!! anyone want to trade ? Or vent about "that" gift ? LOL Merry Christmas everyone !

Maybe you should have told Mother in Law, they are "cooking lessons" instead! Maybe she wouldn't have known the difference.....

Well.....considering the fact that when I first started classes I asked my hubby if he had seen my dance bag once when she was over...so naturally she asked "What type of dance ?" I said "uhhh...modern ?" " Oh..You mean like Zumba ?"......"yes - like Zumba" LOL...at least we have progressed into "aerial" - I just tend to focus on silks and lyra - avoiding the "P word" Putting Veena lessons and some AA DVDs on my list was my way of "coming out of the closet"....oh well....guess my secret is still safe !
Or mabye she googled/youtubed both and is now just disturebed by everything, hence the pots and pans. Trying to make you into a Susie homemaker now! :)

LMAO ! As Im sitting here postingon SV in between checking the turkey, doing strips on my quilt and refereeing Christmas toy arguments...maybe next year I'll bring my pole and work on my pole sit while mashing potatoes ! Hahahaha
HAHA! I'm lucky - my MIL loves that I pole! She's in her late 50's, and every time I visit I show her my new photos, she's always so lovely and impressed by it all. Not really the same thing - I asked my dad for a camera and then on Christmas he gave me a coffee grinder? Lol! Then as I was leaving he said he was only joking and gave me money for the camera. I was so confused before that though.

Ha I'm the opposite I asked my mom for new tires on my car then wished I hadn't cause it meant no pole dancing presents and she's the only one comfortable enough to buy me that stuff. Everyone else acts uncomfortable when I bring it up but this year I got lucky and won a year of unlimited pole from my local studio and now I'm soooo happy. Best Christmas present ever!
Wow that's awesome!! That sucks that people act so uncomfortable though :( I guess I'm really lucky - I've only ever had positive reactions when I tell people. Maybe people are just more laid-back and less conservative in Aus?

Taliachild - yes I think people in Oz are a lot more laid back. When I mention pole to the Americans I know here, they all seem pretty shocked! From what I've read on here, people in the US tend to associate "pole" with "stripping" and poles are referred to as "stripper poles" over there (correct me if I'm wrong, those of you in the US!) Oh, and I'm probably about your MIL's age - 57 ;-))
I got a foam roller and the bad kitty spider back top-yey-good boyfriend :-) gutted about the pans :-/
Sounds like something my IL's would of done. At my baby shower for my daughter his Aunt thought my husband was going to starve to death b/c I didnt cook. She tried to give me a recipe book of recipes using Campbell Soups. The past 2 yrs the IL's have tried to get me pole shoes, each year a fail. Never the right style, brand etc. Thats why I provide links to everything and just ask for gift cards so I can get my own gifts.

My MIL doesn't know what to do for me cuz I'm weird lol. Mastercard gift card. FIL gave me a sign for my bathroom about fairy soap, a fairy with a gazing ball (I like faeries!) 100 bucks and a set of raver gloves lol!!! The man knows me well. Cash from his grandparents and great aunt. His other relatives were boycotting "consumerism" this Christmas *shrug* we still gave them some crystals, they didn't get it lol. Due to some miscommunication, we didn't do Christmas with my side of the family. My brother is coming up with his baby this weekend, I assume we'll do presents and hanging out then. My husband got me a sock monkey in a tutu, some black boots, and I picked out for myself a coat, 2 Furbys, and some accessories for them lol. I also got an amethyst and tourmaline necklace, but it didn't come with a chain. :-D I DID ask for lessons and things, but I now have the cash to get them, so its ok, but knowing me, I will spend my money on responsible things and pay bills. My husband is trying to convince me that our play money is play money, but mainly because he wants to spend it ALLLLLL on some music stuff lol.
You CANNOT spend Christmas money on bills!! Santa will refuse to visit your house next year if you do! Spend it on something lush for yourself xx

Well I just saw the FlyGym someone here got and was like "hrm... I could get one of those with my xmas money....or I could get a new pole...or I could get a Lyra....or I could get contact staff...or..." lol!! Then the voice of reason kicks in "You still owe on your car, you want to buy a house, you have enough..." I think I shall replace the voice of reason with "Spend it on something lush for yourself!" Lush :) what an awesome word!

I always split it 60/40....60 to do what my inner child wants 40 for the I suppose I need to act like a grown up *sigh*.....but I guess my MIL decided for me this year that I need to be responsible with those damn pots & pans ! LOL I suppose my inner child will just have to get out the lid of my new giant frying pan to go sledding with the kids later.

I hope they were at least, All-Clad or something equally as nice! My FIL gave me some cash and I will use it to buy a brass X-Pole in the spring!!
Haha awww! My mom and boyfriends parents are wicked cool and love my poling! Mom got me all dancewear and everything ;)

well...Today got better...thank you Ami clubwear and your 50% off sales - I just bought myself two pairs of shoes ! And maybe I'll just wear them while cooking
D Luxx - im the same way. I blame my husband for making me more practical about things. Past few years ive been trying to tell my family/his family that we dont need gifts, we would rather get ahead on our bills than get gifts to clutter up our home. Were thinking about buying a new mobile home next year and moving so anything we can save for a down payment would be a present for us. But if my IL's got me pots and pans Id laugh at them - I hate cooking! I only cook b/c I have to, I find no joy or excitement in it.

My husband is ALLLL play. I'm definitely with you on the "Please! No more useless knick knacks!! You saw what the last move was like!!!" Nix the candy, lotion, and bath sets too, I usually regift them *blush* I actually really REALLY need pots and pans, mine are Wal Mart brand that I bought 7 years ago. I keep a screwdriver in the kitchen for then the handles are falling off lol. Thats something I could spend money on, but if I'm not paying bills, I'm finding it really REALLY hard to justify buying something else, even another pole or silk rig or what have you. I USED to be really careless with money, racking up debt, overdrafting my account, etc. Now that I've solved that, I'm like, bill obsessive. If I slip, it opens the gate to financial laziness, which is not compatible with my goals, thus obsessive is the way of it. One day: Balance lol
Im known to return for store credit. Ive done that a few times. Like I need another wall clock for our house!!! Then my FIL was introduced to Ebay and all hell broke loose. There goes my return plans - back on ebay they go.
