Wanting to Buy First pole....what should I get?

Hey guys, I've been lurking around here for a bit and have seen some of the reviews that y'all have given on certain poles, but I need some help. I am a college student and renting a fairly new apartment. I am wanting to get a pole that is completely removable and will leave no marks when down (such as the "plant hook" or a hole of any kind). This will be my treat to myself for an internship I'm working this summer, so price isn't too much of a limiting factor. Thanks and I look forward to your replies 😀

Xpole baby Xpole!!! I have two of the older ones-the chrome version -top loading. The only mark they have EVER left was when they were up for a year...........there was a slight ring on the ceiling from dust or cooking etc............ Whipped over with a coat of ceiling paint~ voila~~poof!!! All gone. They have never put a hole in the ceiling, left a mark on my beautiful hardwood floors......The last place I was in had original hardwood from the 60's...........the real hardwood....not like the laminate they do today. Ya know...........the you "gotta rent the buffer/polisher machiney thing to keep them in high gloss" Never had any issues............ Hope that helps

I'm pretty sure they're all held up by friction, but don't worry, it's definitely sturdy enough for tricks.... I'm a 14, and mine hasn't budged yet

I wouldnt say that they're held by "friction" per say. I'd use the word "tension". 😀

Hello, I was going to ask this same question until I saw this topic. I'm now eager to get an x pole after hearing such great reviews but now I'm confused to which one to get.. Im leaning toward the 45 titanium but wondering if anyone can tell me if there is a difference between 'silver matte' titanium or 'gold' titanium other than the colour? eg. gold grippier? ect. Ive been searching the net but not a lot of feed back on silver ones because I don't think they're available everywhere.. If someone could help me,would be very much appreciated... 🙂

I have all of the finishes and sizes....if your a new "beginning" pole dancer, I would go with the 45mm Chrome. Titanium is very grippy and once you start working on spins (static spins) it can really rip up your hands (dancers new to static spins tend to have a "death grip" on the pole) So I say Chrome 45mm. As for size..I use to say get the 50mm but the 45mm has been so much easier on my joints. 50mm is standard in most clubs, studios and competitions. Some comps use 45mm and I hope it continues to spread cuz I love my 45! 🌸

i must be devil's advocate! i think that if you are just starting you should buy a 50mm stainless steel pole-- preferably platinum stages. the reason WHY is because if you start with a grippier finish, and a smaller pole (a 45mm chrome xpole for example), it will be difficult for you to adjust to a larger, less grippy pole finish later on. if you learn on a stainless, you will be able to pole on ANYTHING.

Stainless steel is great if your in a studio where it will get worn down faster...but I still say go with Chrome for the home poler. Especially if you live in a cold climate...I spent many cold winter days grip less and frustrated. 😈

That I can agree with too Veena. My stainless is slippery as snot most of time. However when I nail a move on it I know I really have it lol. I go other places that have chrome or brass and feel like a super star because I have so much more grip.

Especially if you live in a cold climate...I spent many cold winter days grip less and frustrated. 😈 hm, veena, that's interesting-- i've played on brand new platinum stages superpoles (the one piece) that were stainless and felt almost like they were broken in to me, right away-- they weren't slippery and they got warm after only a couple spins. i would NEVER recommend the lil mynx stainless, as they are MUCH more slippery than the PS ones-- to the point where i tell everyone that has one to sand it. at one of the studios that i teach at, they have both 50mm stainless PS poles and 45mm xpert xpoles, and when i play on the 50mm for my own practice, and then teach class directly after on the 45s, i don't see a difference in how long they take to warm up.

Mine was a permanent PS pole...worked ok in summer when I was sweaty (I'm a dry person and don't perspire much) and the room was not cold...but come winter...it just took too long to warm the pole and myself. I made the switch to Chrome and it was a whole new poling experience. Depending on your skin (dry, oily ect) you may work better with one finish over another. For me my perfect grip days are: Warm 70ish Humid I have dry skin...so humidity is my friend!! ☀️

hm, that's such an important point and i think we should make it a sticky (HE HE) because everyone always wants to kno what kind of pole to get. can we maybe compile a list of pros and cons? because i run hot, and sweat insanely, and slip right off chrome most of the time. my perfect grip is 70 and air conditioned with NO humidity.

I have dry skin like Veena. I prefer 70+ with humidity if I'm going to dance on stainless (ie the pole in my house) anything else I'm slathering Corn huskers on to even attempt to stick to do anything. Chrome I stick ok without humidity, but stick much better with it. Brass I can pretty much stick to after a few minutes of walking around it warming it with my hands humidity or no humidity. won't know about titanium for another week, haven't danced on it but will.

Same for me Nymph! Maybe we should start a topic so everyone can list their skin type, climate, both heat and humidity level and pole finish preference....Could be helpful for others, because it there really seems to be more factors to it then just finish. 🌈

I'm leaning towards a Titanium for my second pole. I'm leaving my stainless up though because it makes me work harder and gives me a great sense of accomplishment when I can do something on it in less then ideal weather 😀

My instructor recommended the titanium x pole to me because the grip is more like what Ive been learning on,except she doesn't know if there's a difference between the two titanium because she hasn't tried the 'silver matte'.. Do you have a preference in your titanium finished poles? or the both the same and its just the coloring that's the difference? 🙂

i got a 50 mm chrome x pole recently and i love it ABSOLUTELY love it! its a top loading one its the older version. but i mean the only other kind of pole io personally would buy is 50mm titanium gold x pole because i heard they are a bit better for grip good luck!
