Twisted grip somersault vid

Since the vid I shared on this move the other day was a tutorial kind of thing and those are not allowed as direct uploads (sorry, I wasn't aware of that, but it makes sense now), I'll reply to you like this instead. Some were asking if the pole is on static mode, and yes it is. I think that if something similar is going to be done on spin mode a different technique has to be used. If there is something I've learned since I started poling it is that "impossible is nothing":) lol, but be VERY careful! And to everyone else who sent comments I just wanna say thanks! Its a bummer that they took your vid down. I understand the policy, but Veena doesn't have a lesson for this. And besides, she hasn't put up a new pole lesson since I've been a member here, despite the fact that at least half of us here are advanced level. Anyway, I checked your tutorial out, and it looks amazing. I can't wait to try it.

Thank you for this. I've never seen this skill. It's now added to my "must learn" list. I can't wait til my next pole session after Christmas.

this trick looks so beautiful, I will also have to try it! Looks very impressive how you fly around your pole! Besides, I also totally understand that it´s not allowed to upload tutorials here. I think Amy wrote a very interesting article on her blog about students who teach during a class. I think it´s the same online as in a "live class". Lynette- Your videos are jaw dropping! Thanks for sharing! Most of us I would assume have Youtube accounts and can Fav there so it shouldnt be an issue to still view and share. It does make sense, Veena is the teacher and is responsible for what people learn here and I know she is very careful about safety. I think its good she protects herself and others. SInce its ok to share links, it only takes a click to get to youtube to view your videos (if its a tutorial) .- which are absolutely incredible!!

I tried this tonight at home (I'm an upper intermediate/advanced poler and teach at my studio) but I had a hard time daring to just jump into it quickly! I guess I'm chicken. :-) I'll have to keep trying...

Thank you PaulettePoles for your kind words about my vids. Regarding Veena's policy about tutorials I'm totally fine with it and I understand what's behind it. I just hadn't read the rules and posted before thinking. UTpoler, I wouldn't call you chicken just because you didn't dare to jump into it 😉. On the contrary I think you were brave to try! I hope I haven't underestimated the difficulty of this move too much. It's of course always easier for "the inventor" for the simple reason that she/he invents it in a way that comes natural to her/him. It may not be so difficult if you don't hesitate, but that's for sure a big "IF" in many cases. I would really recommend to practise the Roundabout until you really have it down and then, like I described in the tutorial, let the hand on the pole take more and more of the weight. Charley, you don't have to thank me, it was just fun🌸!

lynette, Is it possible to do this in a non twisted grip? I think the twisted grip is required since you flip over, but as I am not a fan of twisted grip I thought I would ask. thanks- very nice move and video

Unfortunately I don't see how this could be done if not starting in a twisted grip. Like you are mentioning, the body flips around. So if it's possible to use another grip then the move will probably turn out very differently!

Whoooa k ... just tried it... my question is how do you hold on far enough out to not smack your head on the pole????

Hi! Glad you liked the move:). I think to not hit your head you should aim for keeping some radius and I guess the ways to do that is to not grip too high up the pole and to keep quite a good momentum. I hope this makes sense..! Good luck:).

I can't find the vid is it on youtube?? It sounds like the Rondebaut spin. i tried it last night scary but i managed it, needs work though, and yeh you need to have your hand low on the pole to avoid hitting your head.

I really think this is one of those moves which HAS to be done on static. I would personally not be able to handle the additional momentum coming from the spinning pole, it seems dangerous and I have not tried it. Do you use a pole which can not be set on static mode or are you just curious🙂?

I noticed after the somersault you had such good momentum and went around the pole a few more times, that it made me wonder if you were on spin (which seems crazy to me) . I've been working on this on static, but it really hurts my wrist so I do not play with it much.

@ scarlet thunder- I've seen that spin before and its actually different than the round about. You are in the same grip, but that "sweeping leg" really changes things. My friend does the spin on the video you posted and we were playing with it to build up to the somersault and came to the realization it is not the same movement minus the hand. if you want to use that spin to build up I think it could work. For the somersault there is more of a jump and that leg will be different. if you already got the somersault from this, let me know - maybe we've been breaking it down incorrectly and I would love to hear how you made it work.
