these moves are not as easy as they look--Help??

watching Eva Bembo. I love her style. I have long felt bored with watching trick trick trick on the pole and she is so interesting to watch. How on earth is 1:36-2:00 possible: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=807638025919323&set=vb.100000193995304&type=2&theater Any tips on these? It's like she's just floating. I tried today to no avail and am nudging out some of my trick goals to accomodate more bottom-of-the-pole/floor moves into my dance repertoire. :)

Those look easy to you? There are 2 big things in there that I see that you need to be able to do, first a one handed deadlift handstand and second an iron X. Even a proper iguana lift or deadlift handstand would be a good start.

I am a permanent passenger on the Bembo train. That woman is incredible. I love that she doesn't bust out trick after trick after trick but the work she does is soooooo deceptively impossible lol.

Pause the video at about 1:44 and look at the rotation of that top arm and shoulder. Dude, the top of her shoulder is in an unnatural position! I am thinking part of this may be a genetic ability to move her joints in that way, kinda like those that easily can do twisted grip stuff.

Love it, polergirl! In a permanent passenger too! Chem, I really meant the rolling around on the floor stuff, how hard could that be? ;) And it appears that being able to push into the floor with one hand would help lift into the moves, but it wasn't really workin for me!

Yeah, rolling on the floor like that is not as easy as she makes it look. Period. She reminds me of the Liquid Motion crew.

exactly--liquid. And I've been doing this long enough to know things aren't 'easy' per se but damn! Shouldn't I be able to do everything without much effort by NOW??! Haven't I paid my dues?! lolol

OMG I have never known of her until now, she's so amazing! I just watched almost all of her videos and I love her style. Thanks for the post Sparrow :) (Sorry I have no useful tips about her technique)

While fluidity and koordination are definitely prerequisites to be able to do moves like this, the weakest link can anyway be what kind of foor we're using. The floor in the vid looks kinda "slidey" and the pants are probably not a coincidence either. Using for example a wooden "parquette" floor can be a little hell. It grips the skin and is very hard and unpleasant for the knees. Sometimes I do some movements on the floor in pants that looks nice and fun, but then it's anyway impossible in my poling clothes. The best attire for floor work (on many kinds of floors) like long leg warmers, pants and knee protection are not what is good for working on the pole, which is a pity :(

The bit in this video about 35 seconds in where she lifts her legs from kneeling and stands up is deceptively simple looking, but so beautiful. I tried it, it was not fluid... I guess it's strength and extreme control, gotta work on it.

bumping this up. I am seriously frustrated that I can't seem to do any of those floaty moves, like the link I posted at 0:56. Can ANYONE do this?!? I swear it's not possible!

I have learned from a lot of trial and error that much of her movement seems to depend on *exact* hand placement and joint angles. Like even though it looks like she falls/floats right into things, when I personally do them if I don't have my hands and elbow/shoulder angles and placement JUST RIGHT I have a non-starter. That is always the very first place I start when I try to break down a Bembo lol. OMG I have loved her work for so long. Her flow is deceptive! Seriously! :/

Yeah, I just learned about her early this year I think? I keep watching and trying to see just exactly how her placement is. You're right, it HAS to be exact....urgh!!!!

This is going to sound weird but watch her knuckles and forearm muscles--they'll give you clues as to which hand is bearing more weight, which one is pushing v pulling, etc. Oh wow I sound like such a creeper. :D

isn't this similar to Natasha Wang's B-girl move? I can hold the elbow grip variation of this easier than the twisted grip version that Eva does here. The placement can vary from person to person, just takes some experimenting, I like to rest it across the back of the bottom arm - it helps me to stop spinning backwards. You just keep yourself up through the core (think of keeping your hips lifted), balance and pushing/pulling with the hands. I also think elbow grip is easier to fully lift the body up in, split grip is much harder. Good luck, I hope I helped a bit? I have a video of me trying this move if you'd like to see my amateur attempts lol
