Ok the good news is that I have my shoulder mount but the pain is unbearable! I have tried moving the pole around with no luck! Does it go away or am I doing something wrong?!? Any tips would be appreciated!!!

Yay for you!! It is normal for the shoulder mount to hurt, your putting a lot of pressure on a part of the body you normally don't. If you're taking the lessons go back and make sure the pole is in the right place. If the pole is placed farther off towards the limbs of the body, the more painful it will be. Congratulations! The first time I did the shoulder mount I was so excited a did a couple just to make sure it was not a fluke. The next day the pain was unbearable! I could not do any more shoulder mounts for nearly 2 weeks as my shoulder was so sore. The good news is it does get better. I can now do it every day and it is not sore. Persevere, it does get better over time. And again - congrats.
When I first got my shoulder mount I was so excited that I did it half a million times and then I felt like my upper back was going to die. Maybe you should just space it out a little and just do it a couple of times a day to condition yourself. As Veena said, you aren't used to placing that much pressure on that part of your body so it will take some time to get used to. Also, use extra care to avoid placing pressure on your bones. You may already be doing that, but it is easy to place the pole on the wrong spot and then it hits your bones and hurts, so make sure you aren't doing that! :)

I worked on mine for so long, I pinched a nerve in my shoulder. Couldn't feel three of my fingers for a couple months. :-D Yes, it goes away and won't hurt anymore after a while.
I actually pulled off skin off my trap and left a chunk on the pole and had a huge scab..

Hurt like a son-of-a-gun when I began working on it. Not at first because I was doing baby steps for a long time. But when finally realized at a workshop that I was able to do it and had confidence at home, yet a lot of pain. Went away and stopped hurting.
I am no expert, but when I manage to do one (which isn't all the time) it isn't painful at all. Like Veena said,positioning is everything. I have the pole right along the neck and side of my face.
