S Girls please help!

I am DYING to learn how to execute the fluid S slinky movements that some of you girls have picked up from the S Factor studios If any could pass on some tips / advice I would sooo Love it! I wish there was a studio near me, but there is not. I have ordered their DVD's- all of them lol! The new ones didnt really teach anything new movement wise and was more work out focused where I was hoping to find more of a movement based DVD. Anyway,I have zero dance expereience and really struggling in this area. Trciks are coming easily for me but tying them together- not so much! Any tips / advice would be greatly appreciated! :)

Do you have the original series? Best advice I can give is to turn the lights down low, crank the music up and just move. Get in touch with every part of your body....concentrate on how your hair feels, on how your clothes feel, on the way your muscles feel. It is all about slowing it down and luxuriating in the moment. When you slow things dow it makes everything a million times harder. You really have to tell your body to engage instead of relying on momentum to get you from point a to point b. A big part of S is also accepting your body which is probably one of the hardest things for women to do. Once you hang up all of the negativity you have about your body and just move in a way that feels good you would be amazed at how sensual you can move.

Chemgoddess1 (hello my fellow S Sister!) hit all the important points. One of the keys is to slow everything down considerably. Even when you're dancing to a faster song, slowing your movement down, really allowing yourself to be the erotic creature you are, is how you will find that natural fluidity. Choose a song that really dials into to your erotic creature and dance slowly to the underbeat of the music. Really be in the moment and allow yourself to do whatever your body and your EC wants to do in that moment... maybe she wants to cat pounce (I'm assuming you know these moves since you have the DVDS) or do some rocking cats, the song may move you to godess up off the floor or crawl to a chair, pole or wall. Maybe the music moves you to strip out of your clothes, oh so slowly pealing one item at a time off... no rush no hurry... maybe you like the tease of only stripping 1 or 2 things off or not stripping at all. You have to know your EC. Really it's an experience that is difficult to translate outside of the studio but I hope this helps. It's an amazing journey that words really can not describe. I hope you will have the opportunity to experience at a studio someday!

there's no real trick to it... just do it without thinking about it... learn the basics from the videos, and then turn it into your own organic movement!! :) No restrictions, and there's no way to do it wrong!! :)

I do have the book,the DVD's and I did fly to Ca about 5 years ago for privates and a few classes. (Im in Fl) I loved the class room and the teachers guidance when I was there. I had a blast in person and really got into it. I havent really found it within myself once I got home though. I think I need to take the time to be alone and follow your suggetions... I ususally just pop the DVD back in- and my kids are always interuppting which makes it hard. My hubby doesnt even want them witnessing tricks let alone my inner EC! lol- not funny- Thats what I need though, alone time! Is so hard becasue I homeschool and they are pretty much always here. Even if I lock the door- someone knocks!

We need a love button around here or at least a like button. I love all these comments! You are right, you must set alone time to darken a room with some soft glowing red light and crank up the music loud. Is there anyway someone else can watch your children for you 1 or 2 times out of the week so you can take care of you? Is there a family member that can help you out or can you pay a sitter for a couple of hours? If you explain to your husband how this is important to you and your well being, that by taking care of you, only then can you really give all of yourself to your family, might he support you in trying to crave out a couple of hours to make this happen?

In regards to your EC, don't discount other more conventional dance forms to help you with your transitions and floorwork slink. :) Salsa, ballet, ballroom, jazz/modern and bellydance are all more 'socially acceptable' movements that will translate to the pole with a pinch of creativity. They're all really great workouts too and lengthen and tone everything very nicely. :)

Also, Chem is right on the money with everything she said. It really is about slowing down and engaging your mind to your body and your audience (if any). I just wanted to offer some movement alternatives for when your can't find privacy. Conventional dance also gets your 'in' your skin and moving with confidence no matter what the pace may be, which I think is another big key to the 'engaged movement' process.

I have only been to the Houston studio once but was very active on the forum when it was one of the only forums around. Being what we called an "at home girl" was definitely more challenging than being able to go to a studio and unleash your vixen once a week. Even now I find the only time "she" comes out to play really is when we go to a club that has a pole. Something about the darkened room, loud music and being watched unleashes her.

I have the original series as well. It is the best senual movement exercises I have introduced to myself. Never in my life have I felt so comfortable in my own skin. Enjoy touching your body and all the curves you have to offer. You are beautiful. Go with your own flow. We natural curve in the 'S' figure. Feel it sister!

One more thing, I get up way early. I am spent at night. I have only one child, he is young. However, the morning is the only time I get to experience myself. I don't know your schedule, but carve out for some time for you. You deserve it!

The support here is amazing. I get up way too early myself- I find the afternoon works better for me. SInce the time changed, Ive been getting up at 4am! I wish he (hubby) understood, but he just isnt getting it! I think my best bet is gonna be after we are done w school and kick them out to play w implicit instructions of no interupting unless they are on fire! They really are always here... @marie- funny you mention more socially accetable options- that is what Ive been trying to incorportate- made hoops for all my kids etc.. stuff I can do w them. I am even taking gymnastics and aerial training w all my kids from a retired curcus performer now. Trying to sneak whatever I can do in as appropriate. Now hes not even open to lyra, or aerial yoga- getting ridiculous! Im buying msefly aerial yoga hammock for X mas regardless That still leaves out my inner EC... Gonna have to carve time alone or I will never find her!

Hi Paulette - with all due respect to our loving husbands & other halfs...this movement is ALL about YOU losing yourself to the moment...mostly alone it seems. No "performance" no judgement but rather tapping into that deep soulful erotic side of ourselves expressed through our dancing. The S I've been learning is how to get out of my head. Being super slow and present in the moment - which often seems impossible at home with kids & responsibilities & my head chatter!!! But I think it is achievable with practice -- even with the chaos around. Finding the zone...getting there is the journey. Keep pursuing it! I think the movement comes naturally when you are in that zone - when you think too hard its gone....very elusive!

I don't know S factor except for what i saw on tv. Look like the Liquid Motion workshop i got in October. She teach us to do sexy moves but even more important to find that place in you where you really go blank...you just let your body do what it want. Personnaly i can't do it if people might interupt me, so i wait when the boys are in bed or i'm alone at home. Set some slow and sexy music and if you can put some sexy light, bf got me a disco ball and some flashing lights but anything can work. Close your eyes and just let yourself go, it take time but you can do it..

Couldn't resist a reply: I was one of the original and long-time "S girls" online along with the fabulous chemgoddess and also spent many S-hours both at home alone and traveling to classes at S studios! I think the DVD's are a "good" starting off point will will say that "transitions" have never been S Factor's strong suit and while I agree totally with "letting the moment move you" but if you're a non-trained dancer,it can get frustrating when you learn tricks or moves and then can't figure out how to hang them together in a pretty way. have honestly moved on from most things "pole" although I do have a couple still in place and use at whim and into more actual "dance based" sensual movement studies: I find that even the slightest bit or more structured and true dance- information REALLY helps with the mvement be it S-style or other! Maybe take an actual dance class or explore other DVD options to help you deign your own style? Music is also a major inspiration so play with the genres and explore which of them or any of them that moves you and your body will follow! I have never looked to my guy for validation or to "get" what I do and because I've been involved in sensual movement for quite a while,the "asking permission" part is null and void,LOL! It's a done deal and not open to discussion as to "how" I care for my self inside and out and although I have never met resistance from him,I truly understand what it's like to have judgement from others...give yourself permission first! Set some personal goals and try keeping a journal os how you feel and move on different days...maye a pattern you can build on will emerge? Wishing you a beautiful journey!

Thanks again for all the replies! My oldest daughter had bene asking for dance lessons, maybe I will take her and join along! Hooking them together is my problem. I do one, then Im like- Ok- whats next? Need that flow!! STILL havent gotten a decent moment alone- busiy holiday weeek, but determined tomake this my new years resolution! NEed a way to to put allof these moves and tricks together into something worth watching- or... feeling! :) Since I will be alone!

Is there anywhere that has demos of what this is? I haven't heard about it before now, and I'm curious, since a lot of my freestyle poling goes into that realm of "in the moment, musically-inspired movement." But the videos I'm finding on the website are just Sheila talking about S-Factor. But from what I've seen you say so far, it seems like it's sort of an individual/private thing and thus might not be the kind of thing you video-tape and share.

@pancake- I know she has some trailers for her new soulfully sexy dvd's on you tube. I have all of her DVD's, she talks about the concept but the DVD has the moves but are set up more excercise based. She does show you how to flow out of one move and into the next when they change position. What I am trying to learn is how to take the moves she uses for workout and put them into a dance, use her transitions but instead of workout for be dance, personally inspired. I am now working on just going over and over the movement to place it in my muscle memeory so I feel confident enough w the move to incorporate it in my dance. Ive kinda figured I need the move in my head kinda second nature- then I can let myself go in the music and just move w out thinking so much of what move I am doing, but letting them flow out of me. I sooo wish there was a studio clse to me cause I know they do this in the studio w music. Since you already are musically inspired I am sure once you learned her movement, you would take off! I think you could share your dance w no problem- its getting the feeling and finding your inner EC that takes some privacy to feel comfortable w yourself. There are lots of s girls on here- I can ususally spot who they are by their slow fluid dances! They just seem so much more sensual and confident. @jenniferp- I WISH I could go to that retreat- so bad! It is quite pricy!! I drove to Miami once for a workshop she held there about 5 years ago. My first experience!
