Problems screwing together 2 main poles (of x-pole)

Hi, I just started out and bought myself an older style x-pole (with threading, not x-joints) for practice at home and am having a problem with assembly--the two main poles will NOT screw together. They start, but then stop less than halfway into assembly. I can easily screw in the extensions to either pole (top or bottom) at those points, so it's not the threading on one versus the other. I've tried screwing them in off of the assembly too (in case I wasn't holding them properly vertical or something), but again, nothing works. Any ideas? Thanks!

hmm, ok.. I was able to fix the problem--in case it happens to anyone else--simply use the tightening rods to screw it on (with a lot of torque). I just hope it comes apart easily, when necessary!

From what I heard, once you get the two main poles together, many times they are stuck permantly. I had my pole down, and though I would take everything apart, clean it and up back up. The two main poles would not come apart. There was someone selling their X pole as well, but the add said the two main poles were stuck. I don't ever plan on taking my pole down, so not much of a concern for me. Actually screwed through the top dome into the studs to make it permanant. It kept slipping out of place.

I have the old style also....yep you guessed it, my poles are stuck together. I am not sure how I got them stuck, but they are. I don't plan on moving anytime soon, so it's no bother. Xpole does sell a C cup release tool for that problem for $19.99 that comes as a pair for future reference. I haven't bought them though.

@https://www.studioveena.com/users/view/4d7eb80c-9d88-4bb4-b41e-79d40ac37250: How did you screw through the top dome of your X-Pole? Did you use a regular drill, or something special? Mine keeps slipping out of place too and I want to screw the dome to the ceiling. I'm currently in the process of building a permanent ceiling mount out of a pipe flange, but I think screwing through the dome would look much prettier if I can do it with a regular drill/bit. I've been afraid to try because I thought the steel would be too hard and would damage the drill.

No the chome plate is steel. Pre punch a hole w a nail to get it going. Then went in w two 6 inch scres to the stud. I will try to sed u a pic. U cant even tell and my pole is SOLID

I meant to say the chrome plate is NOT steel (like a steel pipe) but some type of thin metal. I screwed into two sides so they would both go into the joist. Even my 200 lbs adult son comes over and spins on it....fast and it doesn't move. If/when I want to move it, just unscrew it. I am going to try to attach a picture.....

I have two screw together x poles....45mm and 50mm. Both of them have gotten stuck at different pieces before, even when I've only had them up for a couple of hours. I also have the C-cup releases from x pole. They are very helpful in getting the leverage you need to pull. I have had one of the pins that goes through the hole bend before because of the pressure. I hammered the pin back out flat and it's ok now. I'll give you some info on what I do as far as "maintenance" to the threads. I take a wet, lightly soapy, rag and clean the threads of all the gunk. I then take another plain wet rag and wipe over them again. I have a tube of "Lucas Oil Products White Lithium Grease" that I use on the threads. The grease is white and not runny, so it is easy to spread and get on the threading. After the pole threads are cleaned, greased and I've put it back up, I make sure and wipe it really good in case any of the grease squeezed out while screwing it back together. This does help if you do it consistently. As a matter of fact, I need to take mine down today and do some cleaning!!! Good luck getting your pieces apart :)
