OK, so I am scheduled for surgery on the 17th of March for a breast lift and implants, does any one have an idea of how long I will have to stay off of my pole? ☀️

I don't know first hand...but I'm curious to know myself. I plan on having the exact same thing done this year! I can only assume it will depend on if the implant is over or under the muscle, how fit you are now and how your body heels....everyone is different. I've heard some say 6 wk and some say 6 mths so I dunno! Whatever you do..follow dr's orders. You wouldn't want to mess us their handy work! Good luck and I hope to hear how it goes! 😀
I can SOOOOO help on this one, i want to share my story but dont be scared, everyone is different. I've had mine before I started pole, 3 years ago. You will probaly be off the pole for more than a month. I had mine done after my daughter was born and i lost all the weight but i went from a natural size C to a DD nursing and then i lost a LOT of weight and muscle mass and had nothing in my breasts, they were even damaged muscles from nursing. so I had a D size implant to fill up the space so i didnt have to get a lift or pay for one (they are expensive) my husband was just in the military and my daughter was still little. So...story two, i started dancing, depending at what level you are at and how much you dance you should be really careful. if you notice there are not many competitive polers with breast implants. I am left handed, and after so much pole in 3 years the pocket ripped all the way up to my sholder almost and the implant would slide out to the side when i was sleeping AND it was uneven and ugly lol. So a year ago (when i was taking a break from pole) i got it fixed and now its back to normal, the doctor suggested i dont pole as much, but i would fix it again just to pole and hopefully get to uspdf at the end of the year 😀 I would say though, that since i have been lifting weights it has helped my breasts alot, there is stronger muscles and they look alot more...eh...durable..? 😂 just becareful what you do after, if you have any questions feel free to ask me, i've always felt alone on the fake boobs pole dancer department. 😂 😂
D: Horror story no! 🙁 What the hell happened when the pocket ripped? Was it not the most painful thing ever? And then.. does that happen often with people who do lots of upper body things?! I decided to answer my own questions by searching implants and body building or implants and weight lifting... and of course found more horror stories. 🙁 http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/merry2.htm Of course, also found some awesome looking boobs, but the horror stories are always what stand out in the mind! LOL.
Okay...this is not something I share with anyone...I got implants the 1st time in 2006 because of a triple lumpectomy that caved in my right breast...I had the lumpectomy in 1994 so it took me a long time to take my doctors recommendation to do the implants. Anywho I had no probs with the pole. I had developed severe bilateral capsular contracture from scar tissue so I had a bilateral capsulectomy with removal of scar tissue and implants done on July 21st of 2009...they cleaned out all of the scar tissue in the pockets and placed new implants....I was back on the pole 7 wks post op...my Sept challenge videos (I posted the date wrong it was July not June post op! LOL) Any way...I've never had any problems with poling, you just have to go back into it slowly, not do too much and I went back to lifting wts upper body (light wts) at 3 wks post op. There is an excellent forum to answer any all questions and chat with other women...its implantinfo.com I know the owner of the site Nicole, she has info on everything including board certified plastic surgeons/financing/before and after pics of the members on that site.
Thank you guys so much for sharing your stories. I am a little nervous, but I have been wanting a boob job for 10 years now. But I don't know what I would do without my pole. 🙁
I got implants in 96. I was thin,small and exercised a lot. The doctor told me it would be best if I got mine above the muscle. Well that was fine until now. It is very painful when I get a mammogram. They have to pull the breast tissue away from the implant to get a good pic. I hate it and I say that I am going to get another implant before the next mammo. The only thing is, I was also told that if you work out a lot in the chest that if the implant is under the muscle that when the muscle builds it can push the implant to the sides of the chest wall. I am not ready to give up exercise or poling for 6 weeks, but I am not looking forward to my next mammo. 😮
Mine are under the muscle...I workout heavy for bodybuilding and have never had a problem with that and I have no distortion.
I am going from a C TO A DD cup, and i am going to have them under the muscle. My surgeon told me about the new silicone implants called memory gel/gummy bears and that that you can't feel the ripeling on the side of the breast in these like you can in saline ones. So that is what I am getting. Ny more info would be much appriciated. ☀️
I don't have breast implants myself, but when I was taking pole classes my teacher decided to get hers done. She was told it would take about a month to get back into her dancing, and to start out slow, but she ended up having to wait about three months. By the sound of what she told us the implants made it really tight feeling to lift her arms up over her head, therefore she couldn't lift her own body weight. She was also told that if you start exercising too soon you could end up with lumpy implants, but I'm not sure if that's true or not. 🙂
LOL...implants can not get lumpy! as for the tight feeling it is normal...that's why you go slow, you need to stretch the muscles to loosen them just as any other muscle. It takes time and patience..I followed my PS's instructions to a T...she told me to resume light wts at 3 wks and do stretching exercises...it was strange at 1st trying to lift myself but I kept going and at 7 wks could do it just not as much as b4( you can see it in my SC Theme from Peter Gun video that I had no problem)...by 10 wks was back to normal. It's like anything else, you need to listen to your body because everyone is different.
WOW! I can't believe your PS was so unprofessional to say that to you then laugh! I'm sorry that happened to you! I educated myself for 6 years and learned everything I could before I made the decision to do it. #! as we age our breast tissue thins as well as the skin #2 as you lose weight you lose fat in the breast tissue which is why the "deflate"so rippling happens (Breast tissue is composed of a lot of fatty tissue). #3 the pocket has nothing to do with "tightening up" unless it was made to small (some PS's place them to far apart as well so make sure you've researched your surgeon and spoken to previous patients). #$ what your describing sounds like a classic "capsular Contracture" It pulls the implant up and squeezes the implant...it is usually caused by your immune system attacking the capsule around the implant. #5 working the chest and upper body muscles does not cause the implant to sit higher and tighten unless you have a contrature. There are thousands of bodybuilding women that have implants sub muscular and they have never had that problem....I know several that are pro competitors...they lift extremely heavy. I also lift heavy 6 days a week and have since I was 50 then added pole at 51. I'm not saying your PS is wrong, I'm just saying it doesn't sound right from what I learned. My PS educated me thoroughly, she gave me tons of info and had me watch several videos during those 6 years. She also gave me the website to help me learn and understand every aspect of implants. I'm also a nurse so I was very grateful for what she did for me. Again this is just my thoughts based on what I've learned and experienced first hand. Wow I can't believe this thread has appeared! I was looking for something about this just a couple of weeks ago! I get mine done March 10th. Silicone, under the muscle. I'm totally excited...and totally nervous - especially about being off the pole for a while. But I've done lots of research and feel if I take things slow I'll build up my strength again and muscle memory should work in my favor. So good to know there are people out there to talk me through the inevitable freak outs to come!!! Thanks in advance guys 🙂
Hey there..just thought I'd add my 2cents! I too have cohesive gel under the muscle, done last march. I didn't start poling until recently, but my PS told me after surgery to not lift my arms over my head for about 2 weeks, and then to not do any real lifting for about a month ( not neccessarily lifting weights, but rather to not lift med to heavy boxes, pushing and pulling a heavy vacuum, etc). Just make sure you give your body proper time to heal. Going under the muscle can be painful and take longer to heal...your chest will feel very tight, but massaging the pec muscle will help to relax it. My only complaint with my under the muscle is when the pec muscle contracts ( ex when doing pushup or pulling up the pole ) the girls shift a bit to move with the muscle. But I have no problems now, and they are much better than my previous set of saline! And I think there is validity to what honey rose wrote too...as with all muscles you want to make sure you stretch the fascia and everything to keep it from tightening up too much. Talk to your PS about your upper body workouts, and they will tell you the best recovery time before you get back on your pole. Cheers!
PaulaB : I forgot to add that I too had a lift when I replaced my implants, and this takes even more time to heal. Be very cautious after your surgery as a lift is more invasive and you may end up having stitches or suture lines re-open even several weeks after your surgery. I am very happy I went with the procedure and love the results now after 1 year, but be aware that a lift may keep you from poling for a couple months after surgery. There is a forum at http://www.makemeheal.com where you may find useful info about healing, vitamins, etc. for after your surgery. Good luck! M
I looked all over for this info before I had mine done in November and couldn't find much, so here's my 2 cents. I got under the muscle saline implants in early November, tummy tuck at the same time. first 2 weeks were ugly but steadily improved from there. implants gave me more trouble - felt like I was so swollen and sore! Anyone who has breast fed - it felt like the baby missed 2 or 3 feedings! worst part of tuck was 13 days of drain tubes! doc gave ok for light workouts at 1 month and told me if it's legal I can do it at 3 months, I specified pushups, pullups - nothing will be a problem? he said go ahead. so I went back to my 4 -5 times a week at the Y, bodypump (weightlifting) and cycling. Now at 3 1/2 months I'm back at what I could lift before surgery. under muscle is odd in that they flatten out a bit when I flex chest muscles, I can do that trick of making them alternately bounce lol!! Anyway - we were changing house around a bit at 2 months so pole was down. 🙁 Hubby is reinstalling it this week ( getting it back up just didn't sound right!) So I will let you no how it is getting back to it and what issues I have. Basically I've been off for 4 months now and can't wait to get back to it! 🥂
I have complete under salines. My ps told me to stay off the pole for one month post-op. At the time I was just doing it for fun at home and wasn't instructing. He also told me to stop poling for a few weeks before the surgery so my muscles wouldn't be as tight. I tried getting back on the pole after one month, but it just felt too odd. It didn't hurt, just felt odd. To work back up, I did an exercise routine that worked my arms by just moving them around, not using weights or resistance. I was able to get back to poling after 3 to 4 months from my surgery date. I got them done 3 years ago. I don't have any problems with them and poling except they do distort some when I flex my pecs. Legs said it perfectly when she said "under muscle is odd in that they flatten out a bit when I flex chest muscles". This is exactly what happens. When you lift yourself up by your arms, the pec muscles engage and flatten out the implants underneath them. Your breasts end up looking misshapen. If you have on a very tiny top, people will be able to see this. For me, my implants move away from the center of my chest. They also look like they are being pressed from underneath and above at the same time. It's a very strange look. I always wear a darker, lycra top with ample coverage while I'm poling to mask this issue. I've had my implants for about 8 years and started poling about 2 years ago. Since I started poling I have become even more muscular than I was and I have been upset to see that there is a spot about the size of a quarter on my right breast where the implant peeks out and creates a lump. I have spoken to my PS about this and he said that the pocket (made of tissue which forms naturally around the implant) has weakened in that area (due to my crazy strong pecs??) and that he could fix it by surgically placing Alloderm (tissue from deceased persons) in that area over the implant to add in more tissue so the implant wont bulge out. I've decided to pass on the Alloderm for now and live with the lump. The bottom line is that an implant unnatural in the body. Problems do arise in the average surgical patient. They are great, yes. but problems definitely do arise. I am ashamed to admit that I have already had 3 breast surgeries! My first sugery was with anatomical saline. After a few months, one of them didn't drop and then that had to be repaired in a second surgery which thankfully was free. Then, because they were anatomical, after a few years they rotated and just looked horrible. I ended consulting with a fab PS in the DC area and he replaced those aweful things with these wonderful round silicones. My before and after pics are on his website b/c we were so pleased with the result. When I took off the bandages after the surgery I literally felt myself exhale a sigh of relief. Silicones have looked and felt so much better that the salines ever did. However now I have this weird lump. Also, as I have aged and lost breast tissue, now the implants are probably too big for me and they do ripple on the side below my armpit. Errr. It never ends. Breast augmentation is a big, expensive committment. I also have long scars under my breasts. How I envy those small breasted natural girls!!!
So, I got mine done this morning - 375cc silicone under the muscle. So far so good! Will document as I resume walking the working out then, in about a month, poling. I;m hoping in a couple of days I can go for walks and do abs since it shouldn't raise my blood pressure too much. Watch this space! 😬
I am excited to see how you come along and when you can start poling. I don't think the surgens realize how much upper body strength it takes to pole. Cause they never seem concerned when people mention it to them. I usually ends up being lokger till you can pole.
Thanks luvlee! Yeah Im gona take it very slow and only go back when I'm ready. In the interim I'm gona keep going to class and do some coaching from the sidelines - can't be pole-less for a month!!!
Day two and an imaginary baby elephant is apparently sitting on my chest. But I feel pretty good - the drugs help. I feel like my upper body is still in shape and I'm gona start weights in a couple weeks once the risk of bleeding has passed. (Curls should be easy since my arms are working fine and with no pain to my chest. I'm also cashing in on the opportunity to focus on abs and lower body so I'm not concerned about getting too out of shape.) But I saw them today for the first time when I showered ad they are AMAZING! So far so good. Will keep reporting progress (feel very narcissistic talking about this stuff but may help a fellow poler out on day!) 🌸
Aren't they wonderful and exciting! Take it easy and listen to your body, don't rush the physical stuff. I think you are doing a good thing by posting about your experience. I'm sure others will find it helpful.
Tomorrow is the twins' 3 week anniversary so I finally braved the pole tonight. It was surprisingly...unremarkable! Spins are still out - they put too much strain on the chest area for now. But I inverted fine and could do butterfly and the usual knee hangs no problem at all! Climbing was a little slow but not painful at all - plank, wrist seat, archer = all good. The incision lines feel a little sore but that's to be expected. The breasts themselves were absolutely fine - it just feels a little strange because the implants are being moved around (which by all accounts is very good for them). I am very happy that the muscle memory is still there and will take it gently back up to normal here on out. Will report back if anything changes!!! 🥂
wow u r back 2 poling just after 3 weeks? my surgeon said i couldnt work out for 4 weeks and then i could only ride the bike weeks 5 and 6 then everything else then i still had 2 take it easy. april 10 i will be 1 year post-op and have been taking pole classes for 1 month now. my boobs hurt the first week but so did my friend who is naturally a C or D cup im not sure. I have 700cc saline unders 36DD and this weekend (last class was thursday nite) my left boob's been hurting, we last worked on the windmill spin with left arm higher than the right and leaning left side of body against the pole. I dont know if it's a coincidence or that partcuilar spin made my left breast hurt, today (sunday) has been the most pain. what do u think it is?
I have not read all the replies on this post yet, however I was just thinking about this the other day. I am new to pole and I have had mine since March of 2005. I have a problem with the right side it has a "fold" so my doctor says. It sit's lower than the left and drives me insane!! I have to place a push up on the right side in order for it to sit up like the left one. The doctor see's no reason to replace it I wish he would! This happen about 2 years ago. I have 270cc gel silicone above the muscle. Thank you for starting this topic 🙂
