I have the pole aria system for lilmynx and I think it's so much fun! I took classes for it for about a year and took a workshop with Cat Gennaro. I think they're a great way to add something different to your practice or routine. I do use them to help get comfortable with moves like shoulder mounts and they're great for stretching! I have a couple silks videos on my Instagram, jennypoles.

So good to see the interest in Polesilks and how it's growing. The whole pole industry keeps on growing and it's great to see something for everyone.
Pole silks are beautiful and a great form of dance!! I absolutely loved it and can't wait to do it again and in a close future even get one!! Absolute great workout too!! Here is a little pic of my practice with my instructor Quinn in Cayman Islands! Try it! You won't regret it!!

What I like about pole silks is that you get really strong pretty quickly as well as able to create pretty shapes. Here is a move I created. I call it "Hoop Layback"

What kind of fabric is used on in pole silks? I really like the way it looks and seems like a great way to get stronger as well as have some assistance in moves I'm having a difficult time with. I've been thinking of ordering a rigging for quite some time -- either the xpole silkii or the Nexus Wrap. My main question is, what fabric is used? What length and width? Since shipping to my neck of the woods is very expensive and fabric tends to weigh a lot, I'd like to source that locally. What fabric should I get? Also, has anyone done a comparison on the silkii vs the Nexus Wrap? Advantages and disadvantages of each? (I currently own a chrome x-pert x-pole, 45 mm.) Thanks!
The fabric used in Polesilks has been specially made so it's a little softer with a medium stretch. It has also been tested for safety :)-

Romo - Depending on what system you use it will come with the silks. I have 10' and 12'. 10' is good for 8' ceilings. I bought 12 for the studio plus extra room to do more tricks. I also use a 45mm xpole. With Nexus Wrap it doesn't matter on the size of your pole. It wraps around it.
RoMo, I have the Nexus wrap and really like it because it's easy to switch between poles and handles all diameters. I use a 45 mm pole at home. 40 Denier Tricot Nylon is usually used for silks. Generally it comes in 108"-110" width. I trim my fabric and the silks I'm using for pole have been trimmed even more. It seems like a lot of pole silks moves involve a single foot lock on both silks or a slip-knot. Too narrow fabric makes gripping each individual silk a little harder, but full width fabric might feel a little bulky. Trimming is easy if you get the fabric on a roll. I've been doing aerial silks for over four years. I get my fabric from Fabric.com. Different colors tend have different stretch, even the same weight fabric, but I'm not sure why you'd want stretch for this type of silks (no big drops). And since you're dealing with low heights, any stretch on the 40 denier is pretty irrelevant. Like, our teal silks at my studio have a little stretch but the black does not. The stretch is noticeable on 30 ft ceilings. I doubt it would be noticeable on 12 ft ceiling. Always wash your fabric a couple times before using. It's pretty slippery off the roll. Not as big a deal for this application, but grip might be a little tough.

Thanks Suemaz, Yayo and CD Hussey. I noticed that Nexus comes with fabric for a reasonable fee, while the Silkii does not. I have to check with FabPole how much the package weighs and cost of shipping to Israel. :) What are the best resources for a beginner to start learning how to work with Pole Silks? I've gone to some of the sites mentioned on this thread but they seem to imply a knowledge of working with silks, already... Thanks
Polesilks have a distributor in USA so shipping is easier. Knowledge of pole is more important than silks so you will be fine. Beginner training videos and "how to" videos are also available and can be sent through email :-)
FabPole offers online lessons via Skype any other internet video program and we are working on tutorial, too. fabpole dot net
Hi I have the pole aria set and I currently have rigged them as a yoga sling/ hammock using 2 caribiners attached to the mini rescue 8 that comes with it. I have just completed the Spin City pole fabric instructor course, the content really helps with 'what to do with them' . It's still fairly new but there are a few videos on YouTube now. Particularly from 'Lifeofapoletrick' 😀

Thank you @vickiezoo!!! I have posted a few videos up on YouTube (need to post more later) but you will find many on my Instagram as well. Look for @LifeOfAPoleTrick. I've created many new tricks and spins. I love it!! There is so much you can do. I also teach one-one-ones and group classes in Chicago. Going to try to offer Skype classes too :)
What do you all use to edit videos? I'm having trouble with Microsoft movie maker. I get it perfect in the preview, but it saves it completely wonky. I have a move called Dancer I really want to post, but can't get the editing right. Grr.

@CD Hussey fka Jivete - I use Mac softwares and apps on the iPhone/iPad. I don't know of any good softwares for the PC.
Vickie- did you enjoy the Pole Fabric online classes? It seems really affordable- $150ish after conversion from USD I think. Is there quite a bit of content? Is it easy to understand and apply? Was it videos, pdf books? Thanks!
Sue I got my silks from you last year at York Hall - do you have any videos for using the silks to help you with Superman? It is my nemesis haha - would love to try & use my silks to help me beat it.
