Lil Mynx detached from ceiling :(

Hi all!!! I am new to the forum as well as to poling, but I am super thrilled!!! I purchased a Lil Mynx, had my carpenter coworker to install. It was up for a week...I've only played with it a bit because 1)I'm afraid it's not as secure as the permanent one in my class and 2)well there isn't much I really can do since I just started ;) However, my niece 8, and kids 5&7 played on it while I was at work. I came home to find it detached from the mount. It was hanging on by the lip of the mount! Now all kids together weigh less than 150....so I am in a panic now thinking it will fall down. So I am really afraid. I reinstalled myself...and I did tighten the adjuster just to make sure. I know the directions said not to but it had so much room to tighten. So my looooong post is to ask has anyone had an issue with it falling? I can't get over my fear long enough to practice Fireman spin at home. Which by the way I still have not gotten after a month...geesh...but that's another post...thanks for any help!

Hmmm, did they pull on the adjuster part of it? The mount is still secure in the ceiling, right? If it is, I bet it's fine and they had climbed on/pulled on the adjuster rod. If you can give the pole a good shake and it doesn't budge, you should be ok.

I had a Lil Mynx, set the adjuster exactly by the instructions before putting it up and never touched it again for 2 years. I checked it periodically, it never moved and my pole was solid everytime I put it up. I've read some threads where the adjuster was fiddled with after the pole is up and that's when people have problems. Do not put it up then try to turn the adjuster. Follow the instructions!! You'll be fine.

My 250lb husband climbed on my Lil Mynx to give it a test and it's still strong as ever! If you have more trouble with it, call Lil Mynx and talk to Randy. They are super friendly and helpful.

Yes, the mount is still secure. I'm not sure if the kids pulled on the adjuster or not, because of course no one would admit to touching it at all, lol...I'm going to take it down & put up exactly according to directions. Because I did put it up & then tightened it more. It feels sturdy but I want to be sure. thanks for the help!

Had mine up for over 3 years and never had an issue. the problem that a lot of girls had was it eating through the drywall ceiling and then it giving out but this does not seem to be as much of an issue if you follow their new direstions on tightening. It is my bet that you did not have it adjusted properly to begin. You should have to press HARD to be able to get it into place.

I second Chem. A matter of fact I just took mine down after it had been up for years which by the way you should take it down monthly to let the ceiling resettle not leve it up for about 5 years like I did and I had to fight to get it down.

I put my pole up, THEN TIGHTENED it into place. After a few spins, it started to come loose, a few more spins it would have came off the mount.. Re-read the directions and you need to adjust it BEFORE putting it up. Makes for a hard/tight install initially, but it's been fine since. Just incase you put it up the way I did...... :)

Lil minx is tension mounted. Follow your directions, make sure it is the perfect length before you put this brand up. And get a level. make sure it is level. I imagine that they pulled on or kick the bottom part and nudged it a little. I wouldn't leave it up when you wont be there. (any Pole) with kids. It's a very safe pole when put up the right way. Always check your pole before you use it. You should also check it once in awhile to make sure it is still the right height for your ceiling.

New directions on LM installation?!?! I think that's what my problem with my LM pole was - I used to adjust it while it was still up :O I just took down one yesterday for a student of mine and I noticed everything was fine and in tack for her. I had an LM up for a little over a year - I never had it come down once and this was way before the new installation process. On another note - I've also noticed that newer LM stainless poles grip MUCH better than they used to. My friend/student has one and I have to say I was really impressed with the grip seeing as it hadn't been used very much. Good work LM on product improvements! *have always liked the powder coated poles*

PS...have 4 lil mynx for sale...3 coated, 1 stainless. One of each that rotates. Make me an offer. Moving to a place that has higher ceilings.

Oh i have a 2 inch back spin. Love it, but wish i had gone w a 1 3/4 instead. Looking for smaller one......thanks anyway!
