Stetched today and felt like i made some progress on my splits. However, compared pics of last week and it looks the same! Only have about an inch to go, but getting antsy now. How long it take you "older" women to get it to the floor?

Hey Lyme! The last inch is the hardest bit and very frustrating! It seems to take forever to change so I was advised to start training for oversplits when I was about an inch and a half off. I used a thick rolled up towel at the beginning so it was gentle and then progressed to a yoga block and now use foam rollers. I found that if I did a set like that, when I took the block away I was so much closer to being flat. I kept doing that and eventually after about weeks (3x per wk) i was able to get flat with ease. I used to be a distancer runner and had tight hammies. It took me almost a year to get mine squared and flat! Just remember to go gently and don't forget to breath! You will get them!!

Goodness, give yourself time! It's very common to see gains right away and then start to level off. When this does happen, try changing the order of the stretches or try holding stretches longer, or shorter (doing more reps), basically change it up. If your using the routines here try adding some of the other stretches either in place of, or in addition to what's in the routine. Not all the stretches listed in the individual lessons are in the routines. You can do it!🌸
Thanks Veena. Your lessons have got me where I am. And i LOVE the foam roller. I know I will get it. Who ever thought someone pushing 50 could learn the splits? And i am proud tto say i am the same on both right and left. :)

That's impressive Lyme!!!
I'm in the same boat- about an inch or two off, depending on the side. Last night I did my usual routine (hot bath +Alathea Austin's Pure Splits video), but I put a foam roller under my front leg, and when I tried again without the foam roller I was much closer to the floor. So, yeah, training for your oversplits can help you get your floor splits flatter faster. My understanding is that it also helps to have an oversplit (at least a little) to do drop splits.
