Interested in pole dancing, but can't decide on a pole

Hello! A couple of weeks ago I went to a private pole dancing lesson party for my friend's birthday and ever since I have been super interested in trying to learn pole dancing. I would like to take a class that they offer in my area, but I also want to get a pole for my house. I have been doing my research online and have narrowed it down to 2 removable (a must) poles. The X pole and a Platinum Stages Super Pole. So my problem is that there are only two places that I would feel comfortable putting the pole in my house. One place has an 11' vaulted ceiling which is my bedroom. The other is the garage which has a flat 8' ceiling. I would like to put it in the garage right now because the weather is GREAT. Then I could get the X Pole which is less expensive (esp since this site is offering FREE shipping!) and seems to have rave reviews. However my garage is not climate controlled. I live in Arizona so the summers get super hot so the garage does also. And in the winter, the early mornings or evenings can be quite chilly. If I go with the Super Pole I would have to get an extra extension and a vaulted ceiling mount but then I would have the option to put it inside or outside. It would also cost me about $150 more than the X Pole. I think that I'm sort of ok with the price (even though I prefer to spend less money where I can) I just may not be able to afford classes if I buy this pole. But I have read some not so good reviews about Platinum Stages. The other thing is the Multi piece pole is no longer available on their site. They now have some new Extreme Super Pole. And I have not seen a single review on this pole. So I am a little nervous about ordering it from them. Can anyone offer some words of advice or an opinion on the quality of the Platinum stages poles vs X Pole? Should I take a chance on the extreme super pole? Or try my luck with coping with the climate of the garage and get the X Pole?

I currently take classes in a studio that has Platinum Stages poles. My instructor swears by Platinum Stages as she has not been to impressed with x-poles when she has had to dance with them in competitions. She says that the spin mode is way smoother with a Platinum Stages pole. I just ordered the Extreme SuperPole so I will let you know how I like it once it arrives.

i have both a 45mm chrome xpole and a platinum stages one piece super pole. i prefer my platinum stages pole. the quality is much much better its worth the extra money. i posted a blog on the subject i would also be happy to answer any of your questions. my best friend just ordered the extreme pole from platinum i will let you know what she thinks about it as well as the other lady that posted about her extreme pole. its personal preference for most of us...personally i would go with platinum stages. i have had ZERO problems with my platinum stages pole nor have i EVER had a problem with the business itself customer service wise. love kara (killerredtex) 🐱

MaiThai, They are both good quality poles... If you have the option to dance inside and with a taller ceiling I would go with that! I LOVE my 12ft X pole and ceiling height gives you a nice amount of pole to work with. If the vaulted ceiling has a flat spot (like mine) they you can use an X pole up to 14 ft. If your ceiling comes to a point then I would go with the PS pole. Now for my experience with Platinum stages poles....My first pole was a PS pole I didn't like it....and they sent me the wrong finish....I ended up having to keep what I didn't order, because returning it was to expensive. Mine was a permanent PS pole. I was so sad I didn't get the brass I ordered. 😢 I have looked at and handled the PS Super Pole and as far a quality.....I would say its great, I'm not sure what would make it better than X pole though. PS and X are the only 2 I ever recommend because of their high quality....I didn't like the holes that X pole has in their design at first either Tex, because I didn't see the point....but after using it I realized it makes it easier for you to release the pole pieces and I never notice them when I dance. The holes also make it easy to check and see if the pieces are tight before you dance. Its too bad you dislike your X Tex, Its odd I read in your blog, you say the X pole flexes... my 45mm is not flexy at all 🤔 I just love the grip my Chrome X poles give me, and my spin mode is smoooooth as silk. I think what can happen with any spinner pole is, if you over tighten they will compress to much, and start to bow and then the spin mode becomes labored or choppy.... I sell X poles because I know they have wonderful customer service and will take care of my members who order. 🥂

Thank you everyone for your advice. I went ahead and ordered from Platinum Stages and I cannot WAIT till my pole comes. I'm so impatient. It just can't get here soon enough. I look forward to hopefully posting vids of my progress. Thanks again!

Veena - Why would you have to spend money to return a pole you didn't order?? Shouldn't they have spent the money to have it shipped back then sent you the proper pole?????

I wasn't working at Platinum Stages back in 2009, so I can't comment on this specific situation. But, if this were to happen, we would get that taken care of for you. - Erica @Platinum Stages

ummm this is a really old thread! They told us we had to ship it back in order to exchange the pole. Pole has become a much larger industry now and like Erica said I'm guessing it would not be an issue anymore.
