I'm shopping for a new apartment right now, and after suffering under the curse of the 7' ceiling I'm determined to trade up. Out of curiousity, I was wondering how high the average Veener's ceiling is? Do you find yourself limited at your current height? Wishing you had more space? Or do you think you have too much space? (Yeah, right!)

I live in a "standard" rancher house, the ceilings are 8 ft. They are too short from me. I moved from a place that had nearly 9 ft ceilings. Didn't think I would miss one little foot until I put the pole up in the new place, put my old extension away, and I'm just UGH! I would LOVE to have 9 ft again, 10 is ideal, 12 would be a dream, anything above that becomes cumbersome for a home pole IMO. I definitely want a bigger room! My pole room is 10x10 and I can't get the camera far enough away to get my whole self in frame, there is a ceiling fan taking up the whole center of the room, so I have my pole off in the far quadrant, and its still a small room for poling, but a large room by general standards. I would love a 14x12 10 ft tall pole room <3<3<3 I really love old style homes with high ceilings and large kitchens, but I don't trust their structure as much as a newer built home.

Mine are just under 9 ft and no, I don't feel limited by it. I'm pretty small myself (4'10.5") so the height is good enough for me.
Currently, if I had a pole up, it would be the standard 8 feet. For me, this is way too low. I am 5'9" barefoot, so on an 8 foot pole, I cannot wear my high heels without kicking the ceiling. 9 feet for me would be likely the minimum height at which I could wear shoes. 10 feet is awesome. 12 feet is more awesome. I agree that anything higher is probably not that helpful, unless you can permanently mount a pole. I have been on a 16 foot PS pole permanently mounted, and I didn't really like it. Mostly because the top 4 feet I would never likely use and there was a lot of give in the pole that I really did not like.
i have my pole room sed up in the basement of my home, so i only have 7' to wook with...i dont feel too limited, i find my self wishing for height so i can climb higher...honestly, dosnt bother me, but i dont have anything to compaire to :)

Mine is about 8ft 4 inches, it's in the kitchen, another couple of feet would be nice but I'm happy to have a pole, and I'm just under 5ft 5 so its workable :)
A little over 7 feet & I hate it. And I'm tall on top of it so i am always kicking the ceiling. I think my low ceiling has held me back on moving on to doing several more advanced moves & you can't really do combos w/low ceilings either. And I definitely should be climbing better after 3 yrs of poling but with my low ceiling 2 small pull ups & I'm already to the ceiling it bites. Hoping for a higher ceiling on our next home.
I'm lucky to be living in a condo that has 9 ft ceilings! It's the perfect height for me :)

A little under 12 feet
A little under 12 feet and it is wasted space because I am afraid to do moves that high.
I have mine in a room with a 10 ft. ceiling, but I've been working on a taller pole at the studio, so I do end up bumping the ceiling sometimes. Overall, I feel like 10 feet is a great height for home pole.
8 feet. Really wish it was higher.

I have a temporary pole right now in a room with a low ceiling (only 8feet) & I hate it! It's way too low for me. I had a 9ft ceiling in my old pole room at my old house & it was nice but I still wanted a taller space... Now I have a room with a 10 foot ceiling but no pole to go there just yet so I'm stuck with a 8 foot for now. The taller the better!!!

8ft and it's terrible. Every time I do an aerial invert, my feet hit the ceiling. It takes one extra climb to reach the top. Ugh.

Mine is 9 ft. I think it's quite alright for my purposes at this point. When I buy a home in the near future, I'd love to have much higher ceilings :)

Thanks for all the great answers! Ladies with poles 8ft and under I really feel your pain. I am 5'7 so my pole is much too short now. One time I fan kicked the ceilings from the floor, dented my ceiling, chipped my shoe and fell on my butt. It seems like 9 - 10 ft is the ideal. So far two places with 12 ft ceilings have come up, but being in Canada it would probably be a PITA to get a one piece pole shipped here just to use it in one apartment!
O man, I love the place I'm in for so many reasons, but the ceiling height is not one of them! I think my ceilings are around 7 feet tall and it kinda sucks. Since i recently moved my pole form my bedroom to what used to be my dining room I think I gained an inch in height lol so I will see if that helps at all. I dream of super tall ceilings one day!
9 ft. I hope you don't mind me asking. But do you have to have a 1 piece pole? What if you move again :)

About 8'4" works fine with me...I am only 4'9" !!! hehe

QueenJewell My understanding is that once you go above 10ft or so a 1 piece pole is better for safety reasons. The place with the 12ft ceilings is a loft with those exposed steel beams, so an xpole wouldn't be suitable there. I love my xpole and would actually go with a place with a lower ceiling to keep it probably! 😀
My dream is to have a 10-12 foot ceiling space to pole in, so I can get some decent combos in, do aerial inverts and not kick the ceiling all the time! I don't think I can go any higher than that though, I am still a little squeamish about going too high on the pole.
