For the last couple Weeks I have been going through a rut so bad to the point where I don't feel sexy, our even cute lately! I think a big part is me being frustrated that I can't seen to find my style. And i've been having more and more difficulty losing myself to the music, which I never would have thought would happen....

I too took four months off pole over the summer. I knew if I kept working on pole with my "rut", I would end up hating it! Just dont sit there, take up something else and you will come back stronger. I trained for and ran 4 5k runs.

I know what you mean, I took a hiatus to plan and execute (successfully =P) my wedding. I took about 6 months off the pole. Now I'm back, but I haven't been able to get on my pole at home at all, and I've been not terribly excited to pole with friends either because everyone else has gotten so strong and I am so weak in comparison =/ I will say that I found a TON of inspiration this past weekend, though... so hopefully I'll really work through my crappy feelings and take back my love for pole!
I'm kinda in a rut right now. I'm interested in watching pole, talking pole, thinking pole, but not actually poling. Or even stretching for that matter. I used to LOVE to stretch. When I do get around to poling, i think, why don't I do this more often. But I never feel "in the mood" for poling now a days. I think it's because it's so cold in my condo. I agree with Lyme Lyte, If i force myself I might hate it. So I'm trying to be happy watching pole videos instead. I'm putting in my mental poling hours.
My longest "hiatus" from pole due to a rut was 8 months. I lost a lot of strength during that time, but my body still remembered what to do afterward! Honestly, I'd say do dancing for warm-up, and then take the focus off it. See about doing some strength and flexibility training, or practicing certain moves because you know they'll improve one of those (strength or flexibility). I really enjoy doing strength training, and am only just starting to enjoy flexibility... but I know now that when I don't particularly enjoy the dancing, the pole aspect, those are things I can still enjoy, and still benefit from! The endorphins at the end of a good workout also help to condition you to want to do it more ;)
Yup. Best to take a break from the pole and try other outlets. The last time I had that problem I triend hooping and got back into bellydancing. I'm in one now and I am gonna start aerial yoga and lyra.
Yup yup yup yup. I don't think I have done anything pole related since late November/early December and before that it was sporadic due to injury. Winter is the worst for me and working out at home I know for a fact will not happen. I have gotten back into taking Zumba 3-4 days a week and it is super close to my house. Even the thought of driving across town in snow to go pole leaves a sour taste in my mouth...so completely un motivated. @Reyn- did you go to HOH? I cannot wait to get down there and start taking classes. I am also looking into taking some stuff at Cirque DeVol.

Are you moving to NC or just coming to visit? I was a pole cleaner at the HOH competition and got to take some amazing workshops with Aerial Amy :) :)
Moving!!! RTP baby! Gotta get through my husband's surgery and then I will be blasting my resume down there. Been keeping an eye on Work the Triangle for the last few months though already. Hoping by June. And I will be kind of restarting pole so you will not be alone!
I'm right there with ya! Currently in a bad rut (haven't poled for over a month now & my pole has been down for 2 months) & trying desperately get out of it. About 2 days ago, I started back up with my daily stretching, push ups, sit ups & using my lil 5# weights for my arms. Just trying to work on gaining a lil strength back first before getting back on the pole. Also, I'll be in Vegas next week for a gig, so I think I'm going to go to Fawnia's studio on a free evening I have. For me, visiting another studio or doing a new physical workout for a bit is always a good source for resetting focus & inspiration, so I am hoping that will help. Thank goodness I've still been doing Zumba while on hiatus though, otherwise I think my body & muscles would really be a bloody mess if I wasnt doing pole and Zumba. I'm happy everything is still tight & right. Thank you Zumba :) When I get a job again, I want to become xpole certified & ACE or AFAA certified & I fully plan to expand on the aerial arts and try lyra/hoop & silks. I guess those are a couple of my my goals/resolutions for the new year in a way...

The last time I started feeling crappy about pole I decided to try hip hop and jazz classes... it was a ton of fun and completely different for me! I definitely recommend trying something a little different if you're not in the mood to pole, and like Cali said taking a workshop with someone new is also a great way to boost your motivation =)
