Fixing Pole Before It Falls

Hey Everyone, I recently read a thread about how people's poles start to shift and come down after some usage. I noticed today that mine is feeling a little loose, and I checked it, and looks like it's starting to unscrew a bit at the top. Just wondering if any of you could help me trouble shoot this. Should I take the entire pole down and install it fresh? Or is there something I could do to re-tighten it? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I ended up screwing mine up thru the dome into the joist and basically made it permanent. Doesn't budge!

You should alwyas check the pole for stability every time you pole. If it feels loose, yes tighten it. You should also be taking it down periodically to let your ceiling settle.

Hey again, Thanx so much for the advice. I ended up unscrewing the thing at the bottom, which slides up or down to reveal the screw part of the pole where you can screw it tighter or looser. I screwed it counter clockwise (tighter) and was able to screw it about a full turn and a half. It seems much sturdier (hopefully it is!) Thx again!

I've been told that our ceiling contract and expand with the weather and such, so your pole can be tight one day then fall down the next.

Oh wow. That makes a lot of sense. Especially since here in NYC the weather's been shifting from cool to super hot n humid. I will def keep that in mind before I get on my pole. Thx!
