fed up with my slippery pole

Hi yet another thread about slippery poles! I just cannot use my dam pole .. its so slippery I have no grip at all on it when I go to my pole lessons , the poles are great , I come home try mine and I have to give up, its useless I have tried just washing it down with warm water, a clean cloth, I even bought some rubbing Alcohol and tried that today,it seems to have made it worse..unless the cold has something to do with it Any suggestions on how to make my pole less slippy? I use Cetaphil as a face/body moisturizer, but it doesn't help for hand grip - it has lots of oil in it. Moisturized skin definitely sticks better, but you have to make sure the lotion goes on hours before you pole so there's no residue.

When I first got my chrome x pole it was super slippery too! I heard you just have to clean the hell out of it with alcohol to "break it in" or something! It seems to be grippier the longer ive had it, but if its cold out forget it!

I only got my chrome X-Pole a few days ago, and I'm so frustrated that I can't even climb the pole! The pole at the studio was so much easier to climb. I warmed up the room, the pole, and warmed up my body. I've been wiping my pole with alcohol all the time. It only feels stickier for the next 60 seconds and then it's back to slippery again. :( How much do I need to use this to "break it in"? Do I need to constantly spin on it? I wish the pole would hurry up and become sticky enough to climb!

I find the pole needs to be warm before I can climb it, if its cold there is no chance I can do it.

Have you tried wax? Ordinary candle wax. We don;t use it at our studio, but a lot here do. It's a revelation - it comes off when cleaned with white spirit. But, give it a try, it's amazing.

I posted a few months ago with the exact same problem. I've found that using the wax surfers usually have is amazing for grip. I am a little weary about becoming too dependent on it but before I used it, I was getting so fed up with slipping that I was ready to get rid of the pole!

All these tips looks useful however I have the OPPOSITE issue... I have an xpert chrome pole the new ones with the lock at the bottom to switch to spin... I had it a year, been taking classes like 6 months... The studio I have noooooo grip. It's so sad and frustrating because if I just had grip I'd be able to do A LOT MORE. Some teachers tell me to try gloves and I REALLY do not want to. At home I sometimes get really good grip, but idk how. With time and warming up the pole... Or am I less anxious at home so I don't sweat as much? I use dry hands.. I have mighty grip, & tite grip also . My palms are SOO sweaty which is my issue... Most I read have too dry of hands... I wish I had that issue. I don't want to use gloves so I'm trying everything to get better grip..... 💔💔💔💔💔

Maybe you could use anti persperant on your hands before you use a grip product? Veena suggested Carpe lotion. I live in canada so I can't come across that easily but there's lots of anti persperant products out there that are fairly cheap. I havent bought any yet but it's definitely something I think about. Also I find wiping my hands on a towel after every move really helps. Its inconvienient but it helps :)
