Christianity & Pole Dancing & Boundaries

I've been poling since this past summer at my local studio and my husband still hasn't seen what I do! I don't have a pole at home yet. The dance studio is having an upcoming co-ed party, which they only do a couple of times per year. I would love to show my husband what I've been working on, but can't decide if him seeing the other women would be harmful toward us as Christians. I'm not really afraid of someone stealing my husband and no one will be stripping, but people will probably be looking sexy and shaking their booties. Maybe it's a matter of personal comfort and what would cause one a stumbling block. I'm so torn. I want to just go to the party and have a good time, but I'd hate for my husband to come check it out and feel ashamed or something. Anybody understand where I'm coming from? Have you decided Christian boundaries with pole dancing? Thanks for any input.

Well, it turns out that due to some extra circumstances, it was easy to make my decision about the coed party that's happening tonight. I'm not going to go. My husband just started a new job and is working during the party and he can't come with me. He's uncomfortable with me going alone, and I assured him that I'd stay home. I guess that gives me until the next party to do some more self-exploration. Loopy -- I just wanted to point out something... You and your hubby prayed about the party... you were conflicted about the answer... And then "circumstances" happened that kept you from going. Sounds like God at work to me! 🥂 Just keep praying about integrating your poling with your husband. Don't worry! Trust that God is listening and will be with you to help you. Keep your ears and your heart open, and the way will become clear. 😀 Lots of love! Mindy

So last night at our Bible Study group we played a game. Like the Newlywed Game. One of the questions for my husband was: If I were on strianded alone on an island what is one thing I couldn't live without? He wanted to put on his paper " her pole" . 😂 If he would have, we would have had some explaining to do. Anyway, he didnt put it and I didnt say that. I said chocolate instead. I cant remember what he put down and we didn't win on that question.

There's some people I've talked to about my new hobby, but when most people ask what I've been doing to get in shape, I just say "group fitness." I'm not lying, I don't have to explain it, and and people seem to accept that answer pretty well.

That's a funny story. I've told certain people and recently expand my "pole supporter"group. I just say I love to dance and most don't ask for more. If they ask more, I say I do all kinds and mention my favorites, swing, bellydance and see their reaction to bellydance. Only then if I feel lead to, do I say more. I've only had one friend who didn't take it well and didn't care to hear my explanation. We are no longer friends for other reasons besides that. After that I changed my method of "testing" first! People closest to me know the most.

YUP! It can be hard when your friends and others just don't "get it." It's been difficult for some of my family members to reconcile that I am a pole dancer AND a Christian. So now for those who need an outlet and fellowship and help dealing with issues that often come up in the christian's life in regards to pole dancing - we have a place to go. AND you don't have to be a pole dancer to join, just supporting of us.
