Brass vs TG

I have had a stainless pole, it was my first one, it was a 50mm 9ft & It was slippery but I loved it! Now I have a 8 ft 45mm painted/powder coated pole, I love the grip. & I have used a Titanium gold pole at vertical joes in atl & at pole la teaze atl. However I've never touched a brass one :) what has the best grip between the TG & the brass? I need a 10ft pole now & I love the grip I have with my current painted/powder coated 8ft pole but its too damn short! I loved the grip on the TG's i have played on but i am interested in the brass too! My hubby said he'd buy me a 10 foot pole since I have a room for it & I want to make sure I get the best grip possible. I know I prefer a 45 to a 50 & I bet I'd like a 40 even better but idk how sturdy it would be at 10ft. Anyway, if somebody has used both brass & TG & can tell me about the grip that would be great :) Thanks!

I have all of the finishes you've listed. If you live where it's cool or cold often I would stay away from the brass. My tg is great in all weather. I can only use my brass xpole in the summer when I'm very hot and sweaty.

I should add that I have the old brass finish from xpole, I have not tried the new brass finish...but I have used other brass and still have issues in cold weather.

I own a TG X-pole and TG is my most favorite finish. It is definitely grippy without being skintearingly grippy (imo) like a powdercoated. I'm not really sure what to think of brass poles. I danced on one at a strip club and it was old as hell, I'm thinking. I had no troubles with it, minus smelling kind of funky. lol! But one of my friends has a Platinum Stages brass pole and I couldn't use it. I just slid off. I tend to get kind of sweaty and it was no good. I know a couple of ladies around here have had to powder coat their brasses just to be able to use them.

TG is more consistant grip wise than brass. Brass tarnishes and needs to be treated every so often with brasso and that does make it slick not matter how well you clean if off. I found if you have sweaty hands brass is the worst of all the materials - I just slip and slide with them. Body grip is usually pretty good - but still weather dependent. TG is really grippy but better for my hands than most pole materials. I feel like the TG grips more than I would like but if you like a grippy pole then I say TG. It's a great pole finish.

I have sweaty hands when I pole so I have a feeling brass wouldn't be good for me :-/

Try dirty girl poletice!!! I have nasty drenched sweaty hands even when I'm not doing anything more than laundry, its fantastic and lasts several hours:) oh and its cheap

If you have sweaty hands then all poles will give you problems from time to time. Try using a grip aid to formulated to keep hands dry. Focus on what skin type you have and your climate when decide on pole finish. 🌸

My experience has been more like Charley's. For me, brass is either painfully grippy when my skin is dry, or it's like trying to grab a playground pole while slathered in sunscreen when I'm sweaty. The inconsistency is what I don't like. Either I stick like glue or I slide dangerously. If TG is more "consistent" that that sounds better for me. YMMV.

i just noticed that pole la teaz actually has brass poles (its amazing what you find out when you actually read, lol) @ - i loved your blog that you linked! that was amazing info! & i was excited to read that you can have any pole powder coated if you wanted to so i thought that was awesome to know, it really takes the pressure off. i loved the brass at pole la teaz, i felt that they had amazing grip for me & i had visited that studio in the hot & humid summer months. of course brass is more expensive :-/ i read about having to clean it with the brassO, does anyone know how often you need to do this, what happens if you forget & do you have to keep away from the pole for a long amount of time after cleaning it with the brassO? i have one more question since i'm leaning towards brass... i will have a 10 foot pole & i am really leaning towards a 40mm Xpert (thats why i want brass because they don't make a 40 in a TG) has anyone used one for serious tricks & being "rough" & do you feel they are very strudy or do you feel like you are on a straw wobbling around? lol. thanks again :)

I have a 40mm x stage lite, and it's pretty sturdy. Anytime you go down in diameter there will be more flex, and brass is softer, so it will add even more flex. I believe that x pole is putting a steel lining in their brass poles, but I'm not POSITIVE. You might want to ask. In regards to brasso. You don't need to do it THAT often and it is not a big deal to use. You rub the brasso on (it takes some muscle to get the patina off) then wash the pole with soap and water. Brasso simply takes the patina off the pole. The patin actually makes it grippier, but some people don't like the color of it. I've brasso-ed my pole all of 2 times and I've had mine for over a year. I just pole on it with a patina. You hands will get some of it off naturally.

I would find out specifically what brand PoleLaTeaz has as all brass poles are not the same. It depends on what alloy they use and some will be grippier than others. I also have a love hate with brass. I have ripped skin off from it being too grippy and I have slid to the floor and for the life of me could not grip. I also seriously dislike the odor.

The brass poles at Polelateaz have just the right grip. I have an new xpole in brass. I like it most of the time. I do have to use a heater at 65 so I can stick on the super cold days. My hands do smell a little funny and sometime my caluses have a green tint. The pole is a bit more slipperly than the ones at polelateaz. I would also be interested to know how the brass at Polelateaz is different.

studio poles are well used, so they tend to have more grip than new home poles. Home poles take a while to condition.

i was really leaning towards the brass BUT it's a lot more $ so i was just gonna get a TG, BUT now... 🤮 i went up in the attic & i can tell i need to screw the pole in the ceiling, because i have a tray ceiling in that room & those beams are def mounted from the top down 🙁 now i will have to spend an extra $80 if i get a x-pert so now i have to wait until next year. that was a total buzz kill this morning. my hubby said i could get one when he thought it was gonna be $330 (he looked xpole.com), didn't know i would need the extention that is $30 OR that i wanted a TG, that is actually $360 lol. & now i need that block mount part too that is $80 so... looks like i'm gonna have to keep poling on my shorty 8ft non-spinny for another year. better than no pole at all but i am itching to work on drops & chaining tricks together, like from the top down. it's super hard to pole in shoes on a 8ft since i'm 6.1 with them 😲 & the walls in the are very close in my current pole space so i am limited... blah! i just want more pole space 🙁 & a pole i can actually climb. i want to do superman/superpain drops so bad i can't stand it, lol. && the one i REALLY want (45mm brass) would be $620 with everything !!!! not gonna happen. my 30th birthday is april 5th so i really wanted something extra special for my "big day" lol. also our first wedding anniversary is 3 days after my b-day so i was thinking that pole would be a nice birthday/anniversary gift... hopefully i can get it next year... or maybe i can find a job & buy it for myself 😀 boo @ poller problems 🤮

why don't you get a 45mm powder coated lilmynx? They are the most affordable one out there and pretty grippy.
