I want to get silks for my pole room as I'd lyk to learn silks. Hat basic equipment do I need to attach thm to my roof? xx

Also do u want silks or a hammock?
For my hammock. I bought two heavy duty eye bolts and hubby screwed them into the joists.

Silks are then ends hanging down and you need a minimum of at least 12 foot, if not higher, ceilings. A hammock is the ends at the ceiling and you can get away with only an 8 foot ceiling. I would NOT consider silks at home unless you have proper instruction. My ceiling is 9ft. What wud I need to secure a hammock to my ceiling? x
I second not doing silks ar home unless you have an instructor there.
As Chem said silks need 12 ft or higher and you can't just teach yourself. The hammock is a bit safer, because ur lower to the ground and it's a loop which is safer if u think u want to invert etc. Thanks for some Veeners I learned you need to attach the hammock to one (or two) heavy duty eye bolts u put into the joists. I am uploading my hammock video right now if u want to see what one kind of looks like. Mind u I don't know any tricks yet....just things from pole! :)

3rding - Never do silks without an instructor. I took silks for about a year and I still do not feel comfortable practicing on them without someone there. It's too easy to get hurt. Even basic wraps and pretty intricate - it's easy to get stuck in them and have yoru circulation cut off or something - plus you need to learn the wraps properly. I don't know anyone who has silks that hasn't spent a long time going to group classes or private classes.
Omg, I started silks last Monday....that is a whole different beast! I remember seeing a video on here of a woman who had silks rigged on her 20 ft ceilings and was practicing them and fell! She posted it, but I can't remember who that was. I use my hammock more as a swing.

Yes, doing silks as well. There is a place about an hour from me with classes. Doing a six week starter for now.....
