So it has been like a week since pole dancing I am so sad I had been moving.. But now back at it I think I am to excited doing everything at once! lol SO I was trying to climb I am a newbie also so most is new I got it but it hurts my thighs so bad. Bad bad pole burn. I have bigger legs so didn’t know if this is normal. But pain is beauty and I will keep trying either way. What I was trying is climbing then holding it and kinda a invert from sitting position thats when it started to hurt

Sitting on the pole definitely hurts at first! Rouge had made a nice post about excersises to help your skin get resistant to the pole burn.. maybe someone else knows where to find it. When you say "invert from a sitting position", i’m assuming you’re talking about the cross-knee release, where you don’t actually invert, but you release your upper body from the pole, allowing yourself to lay back till your upside down https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_king.gif
    – I’m not sure if having bigger legs affects how much you will hurt at first, but most of us do hurt when learning this move, since the skin is pulled while doing this.. fortunately, with practice the pain goes away!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/alien.gif

As my instructor says, if it hurts you’re doing it right!
I’ve got "extras" on my thighs, mostly fat, but turning to loose skin the more I pole! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif
The extras, or lack of strength, probably make the burn a little worse. I think the trick is to try not to let the pole "grab" your skin and pull it. That means holding on for dear life!
Invest in Arnica gel, it’s great for buising!

Azriel, you say the sweetest things…

the only way to beat pole burn is to build up "calluses" on the inner thighs.
Don’t try lay backs for quite a while: inverting may seem really cool, but if you don’t have the basics you’re more likely to injure yourself and feel frustrated. It’s a later beginner move at our studio, we work on strength first and getting muscle memory working.

The trick with pole sits is to pull yourself up, sit on the pole for 15 seconds (15"), jump off, fan your thighs to cool then get back up for 30". When 15" is nothing, then start with 30". keep working this way until you can do 5 minutes (5′) with no problems and can easily hold this with legs only. Days will vary so don’t think you’ve failed if some days you seem to go backwards, it’s only natural.

That’s pretty much it on pole sits, takes some time, but works.
