you got hurt from doing basic stuff on the pole? The best thing to do to strengthen your body for the pole is..poling lol. Or push ups, pull ups, pole-ups, sit ups, tricep dips, butt lifts, v-ups, leg lifts, ect ect ect phoenixmarcy has a video on youtube that shows all of her pole conditioning http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1z3K3hIFmPs

    This is normal.

Most of my beginner students are sore and bruised after their first lesson, when all we do is a basic kate moss (a 360 step around the pole), a front knee hook and a fireman spin.

Your arms will hurt fore sure, and you will definitely bruise. This is part of the territory. I looked like I had some ind of skin disease when I started poling – I bruised SO much!

But the good news is this goes away with time as you get stronger, and as your skin becomes conditioned to the abuse (lol!)

I second this! Strength training is also great for building "strength" LOL.

Not to sound crude…but if you don’t want to be bruised all the time then pole isn’t the right sport! Even the best of the best sport new bruises from pole! Bruising and pole burn are common! I think Veena has some great conditioning exercises but I’ve always said that the best way to train for something is just to do it!

    Okay..sorry if this sounded a little bitchy…hehe I must be pms’ing! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

    You’re gonna bruise…. EVENTUALLY.

With Every new pole more learned, a new bruise will come along.

I’m a beginner too, and I bruised majorly doing fireman spins on my first tries.
The next day? My arms were unbelievably sore.

15 days later, I now many spins….I’m hardly bruised, my muscles don’t hurt at all. And yes, I practice almost everyday.

I only have bruises on my inner thighs from sitting on the pole,

So don’t worry about it, your skin gets used to having contact with the pole, which means less bruises.
The more you do a move, your muscles gains muscle memory which means, your muscles are just getting used to the strenuous work that its doing while holding certain moves.

Keep this in mind: Every bruised you get, It’s a new move learned.

    That’s the way I see.

Aww I wear my pole bruises with pride! Lol. I am still a newbie and I’ve noticed the bruises are a lot less now on regular moves – new moves do create new bruises though! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
