So I just got the pencil hold (yay!) where you start in a ckr and grab the pole below your butt and then loosen your leg grip and drop down so your arms straighten and the pole is behind you and your body is in line with the pole.  I was so excited to get this move I did it like a million times.  BUT every time I do it, my shorts catch on my hands as I lower down and straighten my arms and I have to awkwardly shift my bottom a little so they don't come down too far.  It might just be the fabric they're made of (they're rouched-side dance shorts from mirella) – but does anyone else have this problem?

Ah yes, I call it The Buttcrack Bow and Arrow. One day I was suddently pantsing myself by catching my thumb on my shorts, and then a few days later it just stopped. I'm not really sure what happened differently. Maybe play around with having your hands higher or lower, or being careful to have all your fingers tucked away? For me I just tried to not to pull my pants down and didn't think about anyting more specific than that. Sorry I'm not of much help 🙂

This totally happens to me too.  When I come down from a CAR, I try to squeeze my shoulder blades together, arch my back a bit, and push my hips forward to avoid the "thumbs up the bum" phenomena.  All in all, I give myself a 70% chance of lowering down without pantsing myself!  Good luck!
