  • Your dream pole bra

It’s occurred to me that sports bras were originally designed for joggers – they are there to compress your bosom and keep you from jiggling as you run.

The thing is, there’s not a great deal of running and bouncing in pole dance. Just like joggers don’t (I hope!) spend a lot of their time upside down.

So, I’m working on a pattern for an AERIALIST bra. A sports bra made with aerial sports in mind. This is where you come in – I’d love to know what you wish your bras would do for you. Like, do you want it padded in certain places for comfort? Do some designs get in the way of certain pole moves? Where do you need support so you don’t fall out when upside down?

And anything else you can think of! THANK YOU!!

I would like to see a convertible pole bra. That way if you want to go strapless, racerback or the plain way you have the options. I would also like one with more feminine lines. The ones I see from Aerie (American Eagle) has the most feminine qualities to me, but everything else is just ugly underwear.

On a side note, I would like to see either a control top or cami that is ideal for pole dancing. Either one with a sheer panel around the tummy or a better shape controller.

Title 9 has a great selection of sports bras, as does Champions Sports Bras, in a variety of colors, sizes, and shaping (as well as compression).

Victoria’s Secret has a 7-way bra which can be worn with any strap configuration or strapless.

I’m 39 years old and mother of three. Those kids just sucked the life outta my cha cha’s. And to top it off I don’t have alot in that department. I’d love to see a cute top made that flatter’s flatter chested ladies that aren’t so perfect on top.

Thanks, everyone – keep your thoughts coming. Especially in terms of what you want on the pole!

I would like something that will hold them still without squishing them! A little bit of ruching in the center of the bust might be nice, as it flatters the chest for those of us with smaller girls. Obviously if there is not enough coverage on the tops of the boobies then they might fall out (although I know I personally don’t have to worry about that, lol). Having thick seams anywhere can cause discomfort in a variety of pole moves. For example, sports bras with thick straps tend to be uncomfortable in shoulder mounts. Removable padding might be nice so that there are options. Also, a variety of pretty colors would be appreciated. I hope this helps! I look forward to your creation!

What I’d like is something that provides support but is still pretty/sexy. Sometimes it feels like if you want support you have to compromise on image but I wish this wasn’t often the case. Something lacey/ruffled would be lovely image-wise for me but it would have to hold everything in place without squashing ’em too much https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

I was playing upside down on my pole today and my sister took a pic of me and even though I was wearing a tank top my boobs looked like they were dying to jump out so a bra that will not squash ’em but that will support them enough to not fall out when I’m upside down would be great https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

Am I asking too much? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_tongue.gif

What I’d really love to see is a cute unitard with cutout sides. Between the C-section and hysterectomy, the middle-line of my tummy is best left to the imagination, yet there are some moves for which we need to bare a little skin on the side.

There is a frustrating lack of choice for the larger-breasted women — the ones who need the most support! I can’t wear anything with a shelf bra, over over a bra, because it pulls the neckline down too low. Even the on-line catalogs for exotic dancers (many of whom have implants) rarely offer more than a C-cup.

I have basic bras that work for me, but I’d love to have something cute to wear over them!

My 3 things – coverage, support and designs. Im a big boobied gal, im carrying around dd’s on a 5’4 frame. I have to double up on sports bras when I pole b/c one isnt enough support for me. Molded cups would be awesome that we dont have uni boob! Colors and designs please!!!! Im tired of having a small selection in colors when it comes to bra shopping! I love my boobs but I dont want them spilling out during a CAR (when I finally get it). There are also some moves where I feel like im gonna suffocated due to gravity.

well, since my boobs are 52 years old and several degrees south of where they started, i would like a pole bra that lifts em up, doesn’t push em under my chin, and holds em in place (maybe more generous cup cut?) when i invert. and i LOVE descalzada’s idea of some kinda unitard-type thingy that exposes your side skin whilst tastefully draping the front tummy bits that have seen better days…. for me, that idea would be nice as a kind of bra-top (like victoria secret’s ones). and that’s my 2 cents ! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

Oh I would be first in line to get one, but my main things would be underwire but sturdy I don’t love the whole squshing thing so I found one thats half way right but the underwires are on the outside so the compression it does offer pushes the underwires away from my chest so it kinda defeats the purpose but also atractive that’s big, but i think if you get the bra design down I think you should incorporate it into things like rompers and things that resemble monokinis, because a lot of these things thay have those triangle tops and they look really cute but my boobs aren’t exactly where they belong so they never look good.

    Hey Jennifer!
Great ideas!! I’m a 32 DDD, so tiny frame and natural big chest. I do well with a number of champion bras that are underside and wide in the back, but look like demi tanks so I can wear them alone. One thing I wanted to point out: I find racer back bras are terrible for shouldermounting. My bras are all regular tank style straps. But when students have racerbacks I am always pulling the straps over so their flesh can touch the pole. So I would recommend staying away from racer style. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif. Ellen

i would love to see something that was not made of strings! lol! but, still sexy & offers support && obviously no "spilling" out the top when i do inverts.

    Hi Jennifer

Like the girls said, one that offers support yet sexy and comfy. And it could have the efect of a push-up bra, without the discomfort of the boobs falling out in any invert (like my colleagues’s bras https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_surprised.gif ).
And I hate sports bras, they make me look like a litlle boy (I’m not big in that area), so yeah, it’s a GREAT idea! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

I DON’T WANT UNIBOOB. I have two boobs and I’d like it to look that way!! And sexy. I want to feel me some sexy!!

    That is all.

This one I think is going to be more difficult than the shorts just because of all of the different sizes/shapes. I have a few Danskin sports bras that I love to pole in but are not necessarily on the sexy side.

    For me:
Push up or padded so it looks like I have something there. Cleavage is even better!
Probably racer back or cross back so the straps are not constantly falling down.
I HATE bras that give armpit muffins.

OMG i dont know why someone hasnt thought about this before! excellent idea. Well im tall and very big boobed (34F…sometimes FF) and it is a pain to even get a half decent sports bra in my size never mind a pole bra https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif I managed to track down one (hot pink in colour) and its crap! no support at all!! So for the past year an a half (yes that long!!) i have been wearing only one bra when i pole! its not made for sports it just a fuller cupped bra that has faithfully done its job but is falling apart at the seams!! I NEED a pole bra!! wearing a normal bra to do any sports in is really bad but i dont have a choice! when i do a CAR the boobs fight to spill out, when i invert, when i shoulder mount, when i caterpillar!!! it really is a hinderance https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cry.gif I teach pole and work pretty much every night, thats a lot of poling and a lot of spillage! pleeease make a lovely bra that will cater for bigger cup sizes too, https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
Some nice designs and colours would be great also!! I live in the UK do you think if you manage to make them you would be selling them overseas as well?
lol you can tell im desperate for one cant you? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

This is such an awesome idea, I’ve been hunting for the perfect pole bra for bloody ages. I’m a 34D so I have to wear two bras as well to keep the girls in place, it’s so annoying. I’d love something underwired but without padding so it doesn’t push up your boobs to your neck. I really like those sports bras that are made of double elastic material – those give uniboob though, that’s why I’d like underwires. A wide adjustable back strap would be really nice because it takes pressure off your shoulders. I basically don’t want to care about my boobs when I pole, so I’d want the bra to take the weight off my shoulders so I don’t have to deal with the extra weight on my chest pulling me down etc. Also no racerback because of the shouldermount.
I have a couple underwired bandeau bras and they’re a lot better than regular ones, maybe you could use the bandeau cut as a base and make it more sports bra-y https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

Oh and the idea of a unitard with the sides cut out is genius. I’d love to use my back and waist for extra grip but I just don’t feel comfy poling in a tiny bra. Unitards are so cute, maybe you could design one with a boy shorts-like bottom, some material in the front and perhaps with thicker strings instead of the back strap and shoulder straps so it would fit different shoulder and boob sizes. I’d totally be the first to buy it! Whatever you come up with, hope you’ll ship to the UK too https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

This is probably a duh thing but when your designing bras, do separate patterns for small, medium, larger chests b/c it probably fit differently . You could have optional padding that slides in between the fabric (like a pocket kinda) for those who want it and those who don’t, saving you money and can cater to both. Plus we can change it up ourselves.
I like thinner straps myself and a sweetheart or curved neckline vs straight and boxy.

You could also do it by style-(romantic,pretty and feminine), dramatic (glow in the dark, snake skin) sporty, Performance (more glitzy ones) etc.

I only have one complaint with bras. And it’s the same complaint no matter who the manufacturer or what the style: when EVERY BRA COMPANY THERE IS makes their bras, they make the same bra in multiple sizes. But they don’t take into account that a smaller breast has a completely different shape than a larger breast. The cups of th bra are always the same shape as they are in a DD as they are in a AA, so the bigger chested girl has pretty supported cleavage and I get droopycups that swallow my boobs. And if I go down another size, the only thing that changes is that the cups are narrower from side to side the smaller the cup size. And it really frustrates me! A smaller breast still needs support from alllll the way over by the armpit to the center to be comfy. Just because I have small breasts doesn’t mean I cant get armpit rolls when the cup is too narrow yet sticks too far out in the front. I want a bra that doesn’t make me look like a mastectomy patient yet also doesn’t assume my boobs project forward like DDs. I want a bra that enhances the perky, MUSCULAR look that is so common in us hootlet bearing polers, and is cut for the kind of non-binding support that us girls in the AA-B range really need, because we are more concerned with achieving the proper shape than locking and loading the gals.

I've just discovered this post.  My 2 cents worth:  I am "blessed" with naturally large boobs (G cup in UK/Australian size, and sometimes a GG cup if can get it, b/c of my narrow back).

I'd like something that looks sexy but still holds the girls in place.  Not keen on the "uniboob" look, but have been living with it with the existing sports bras I have.

No seam across the boobs please (as that makes me look even larger!), and cut high enough at the side of the boobs so that mine don't make a bid for freedom and end up hiding under my arms 😉

Maybe a kind of "sling" across the front, under the boobs, and up around the sides to hold everything in.  Perhaps some kind of laced-up front would work, and would maybe accommodate varying sizes of boobs.

Hi Hazi411 – The results of this post turned into the Gemini Bra.  You can see photos of it on pole dancers and read what they have to say about it here:  http://poleskivvies.com/gemini-pole-fitness-bra-testimonials/

My dream pole bra keeps the girls in when I am upside down or sideways, gives me awesome cleavage and is cut low enough on the back and sides so its not the way of the underarm holds. And of course, looks good in class!

The ones I've seen that are the most like that are the Danskin Deep Plunge sports bra and the Victoria Secret PINK yoga sports bra…I haven't tried any of Bad Kitty PoleFit to see if they work too.

I would love a pole bra that actually fit. I have a small rib cage 34DD and the bras are always too big around the rib cage and too small on the boobs. It would be great if they were more adjustable in the places around the rib cage, over the shoulders and had enough breast coverage….(not body coverage) Hate shelf bras. They always cut right across the nipple and your boob is hanging out the bottom. Great look. Also you need your breats to be able to move a little. Some transitons are difficult, because you boob is stuck on one side while you are trying to get on the other side. I'm also older, so it should be supportive. If you dont have enough support your tummy skin gets scrunchy too. It needs to pull them up a little, instead of resting in the bra.
