Cherished- if you point your toes outward you will feel this stretch more in the adductors which will help with middle splits also.

@Shellectra – Yes! Ugh but I only do split stretches 3-4x/ week. Like chem, it’s been a goal of mine for 4 years but I really didn’t start trying till November. I do make a point to square my hips too. I need to try this 6 week daily thing!

So I have been stretching 6 days a week for the past two weeks now. I'm doing a version of the Splits in 6 Weeks program, combined with Dara Torres' stuff, and some stretches from my Aerial Circus class… And not only has my progress been much better than before… A magical thing happened today…

I LIKED stretching!! It felt good!! I mean, still stretchy / ouchy the way that it is when your muscle fibers are lengthening, but… I liked it! I got a nice warm feeling in my leg muscles when I slid into the splits!! I have always HATED stretching. This, is, like, crazytown. I think I'm more excited / astounded by this fact than I am about being really close on my right side.

If this goes well for a few mroe weeks, I'll do a vid of my modified routine in case it helps anyone else…

Anyone else learning to love stretching?

Yes I absolutely love stretching! I also tried a flexibility class yesterday and omg i LOVED it. It was taught by a contortionist/yogini. He did some resistance stretching too.

The only thing I don’t like is the fact that my nerves will not let me go for the life of me. Some day. 🙂

Can’t wait to see your modified tut vid! Sounds like a perfect combination.

I know resting inbetween pole workouts and weight training etc is a must. Is it ok to do flexibility training on your "off" days from pole dancing or would it be best to do those on the same days ?

I like to use yoga blocks under my front thigh so I can hold my split longer.  I'm fine with my left, but my right is horrible.

You and me both Desirae!  My lack of splits are keeping me out of moves!

cazacat…I tried it and had better splits in September when I used it than I did in December. I didn’t finish it. I believe it works.

Just started this yesterday and need some hope! Has this worked for anyone who is extremely inflexible like me?!? Xxxx

For myself it worked but I took about 6 months and I didn’t stretch everyday because it was not physically possible for me. I would wait for the soreness to go away so about 3 times a week and sometimes due to slacking 1 to 2 times a week. I did get all the way down on this routine alone doing each stretch 3x for 60 seconds each except the splits I held for 3×30 seconds I think. Now I also mix in Alethea Austin’s splits DVD too.

Oh yeah and I’m soooo not flexible naturally as in an iron rod had more bendability than me in the beginning.

I’m making sure I take photos all the even if I can see a slight improvement I’m hoping it will keep me motivated!! Good to hear you’ve been successful!! I was tempted to buy Althea’s DVD is it worth the money? I was also looking at felix canes too xxx

We’ve got 3 flexibility routines here too 1 for back mobility and 2 for splits! Each is roughly 20 minutes! You’ll also find many individual stretching lessons that break down proper body placement to get the most out of each stretch. 🙂

Same here Tara I prefer veena’s lessons I have been blessed with good flexibility but I do not believe in rushing it. I tried that one and got an adductor injury lol

Hi Ladies! I started the 6 weeks to splits 2 weeks ago. I stayed on target the first week and the second week my life interfered with my schedule. I did find that after a few days I was really sore so I would take a rest day and be fine to stretch again the next day. I dont see this happening in 6 weeks but im not giving up! Im bound and determined to be as flexible as a barbie doll!!! lol

I have been working on my splits since i was 12, i m 20 now and im 2 inches off the ground, so i have a while to go. I am inflexible, but have strong determination. I am going to try this splits in six weeks and hopefully it can speed up the process. 🙂 wish me luck.

I absolutely agree with Runemist34… “splits in 6 weeks sounds very dangerous”. And unfortunately I have this painful experience. Come on..how can you believ in it? If you are not naturally flexible it will take a year of hard training or more. I found the same schedule of getting the splits in a very short time and just did it…till I almost couldn’t walk .I stretched very carefully and did a really good warming up! about 30-45 min and I did not understand why it gave so much pain-(, what am I doing wrong and I have to say you that my frustration was enormous-(… But after consulting some poledancers on FB (Oona K.for example) I understood that this is absolutely NO Way to splits! 2-4 times a week deep stretching is enough otherwise the muscles won’t heel. Anyway, I am just sharing my experience, maybe someone will get the splits in 6 weeks-))

If one would actually stop and read the article it specifically states that you may not have your complete splits in 6 weeks….it depends on your starting point. There is nothing in this method that tells you to take anything to an extreme. It is simply a series of stretches that when done consistently will get you deeper in your split.

I agree with Chemgoddess. As I am doing this program right now I have taken a couple days off if I’m feeling really sore. You have to listen to your body and believe that you will accomplish this tremendous feat even if it takes a little longer.
