Questions about buying a second pole
I have an XPert (chrome, 50mm). I'm not actually going to buy a second pole in the near future (just daydreaming for now), but some issues I've had with my XPole have gotten me thinking. What I don't like about it is:
1) It's annoying to switch between spin and stationary modes (you have to loosen/tighten screws rather than simply pulling a pin).
2) It's also a pain to keep tightening the xjoints – so many times (like just last night, in fact) I've noticed the joint starting to rotate and I've had to take the pole apart only to tighten the joints again and realize, upon putting it back up, that I didn't tighten them enough and that they can (and do, sometimes immediately) still rotate.
However, I do like the fact that the XPert is bottom-loading, removable (without needing special pads on the ceiling or floor to keep it from slipping), can be disassembled and stored in pieces, has both spinning and static modes, has a comfortably large ceiling dome and small base plate, and has its own cushioning at the top and bottom that keeps it from damaging the ceiling and floor.
But even knowing all of this about my current pole, I still have no idea what I would want in a second pole. I like having a 50 mm pole because I feel like, if I can do a move on that with my small, sweaty hands I should also be able to do it on a smaller pole. I also like having chrome because it feels a little slippery and I'd rather practice on a slippery pole for the same reason – it should be easier to transition to a grippier pole. BUT I already have a 50 mm chrome pole – so should the next one be, say, a 45 mm brass pole? Or if that's too big a leap, should it be a 50 mm brass or a 45 mm chrome (or stainless steel) instead? So many variables! ;b
For those of you who have more than one pole and had to make these decisions, what factors did you consider, aside from space and $$$ constraints?
