Hi all! A few months ago I read a thread dealing with cleaning the X-Pert (new model) and I just spent a good 20 minutes trying to find it on the forum. I would like to take my xpert down and clean it and I'm hoping some of you might have tips for me? I think someone on the thread I am thinking of recommended taking it down for a good cleaning once a month…

I've seen suggestions on other threads to use windex, rubbing alcohol, acetone, vinegar, etc., but which is best?

Also, any suggestions on maintenance of the x-joints?

    BTW, I have a 50mm chrome xpert… Would love to have a 45mm brass! One day…. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

    Thank you!

I think x pole says rubbing alcohol. I use 70% rubbing alcohol on mine. They said windex could be to harsh on the plating (same with the vinegar, although the vinegar could be more harsh on the TG than the chrome.) The rubbing alcohol cleans it well enough. I just rub it down before and after use, and sometimes during poling sessions if it is getting gunky.

Re the x joints. I think it is jest to just take the entire pole apart every so often. Losten all the joints and just let them all settle down for about a day or so, then put them back up. That is what I do.

interesting.. i clean my xpert 45mm chrome with vodka…it does remove dirt and humid and make it completely shiny ..helping with the grip as well !! i heard that we should uninstall the pole once in a while..but how often is that?? 1 month, 2 months..etc..???

I think once a month is what they told me.

Vodka isn't that different from rubbing alcohol. Ethanol and isoprpanol aren't THAT different, so they should both work for cleaning the poles.

THe original XPoles require a lot more maintenance. Anyone having an original XP or PS should be taking them down monthly and disassemble to clean the threaded joints then re-lubricate them.

All pressure mounted poles should be taken down once a month to allow the ceiling to settle and floor to relax. You only need to do this for about 15 minutes.

The XJoints do not need any more maintenance than to spray lubricate the hex nuts when you take it down.

Brass poles require a brass polish AT LEAST once a month if not more as they oxidize before you can even see the tarnish it's there and affecting grip.

ALL poles should have a good soap and hot water bath (they can be standing when you do this) to remove general grime. Alcohol is great for daily cleaning but you will see a difference if you use hot soap and something like Dawn to wash it about once every month or two. This is definitely necessary after a brass polish on the brass poles.

Nymph – It's now part of the struture. If you sell it, you can build a nice little beam around it ;D

lol yep its a ceiling support. mostly that is what it is used for anyway, my xpole is mounted on the other side of the room and 95% of the time that is what I use since my grip sucks on the minx. My kids play on it though.
