My husband bought this Iron Gym workout bar to use since he’s starting P90X, and it is so cool! It mounts on a doorframe, and just kind of props itself there – so you don’t have to put any holes in the wall or door. I’m excited about it because it will be a great way for me to practice pull ups as well as some leg lifts for my abs – there are several different places to position your hands so you can work different muscles. I’m hoping this will also help me to even out my left and right a little.

If anyone is looking for a chin up bar, this one is pretty cool! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cool.gif

I’ve seen that thing at the checkout at Wal-Mart a million times and kept saying "You know…I should really try it" but I think I might just wait for a review https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif before I buy it, just to see if it’s sturdy and worth the cash.

I bought the Iron Gym Chin-up bar yesterday. It’s really easy to assemble and very sturdy. This morning I did P90X "Back & Legs" so I got a chance to use the chin up bar. WOW, I had to use a chair for assistance on all of the back exercises. I used a tubing band in the past. Dreya Weber who is also a cast member in the P90X series is also an aerialist and dancer.

Karol – yes, I’ve been using it daily! It’s mounted in the doorway of my husband’s "man room", so he gets a kick out of watching me. I am so determined.

And my shoulder mount – I think I’m getting closer….when I get it you will probably hear me scream! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

I’m actually going to get this exact bar tomorrow because I started p90x today and I’ll need it for tomorrows workout https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

How is your man liking it? I only did one workout so far and I know that if I keep this up I’m gonna be like wonder woman when it’s all done.

Glad to see you lot love these! I don’t have the kind of door frames I could screw a normal pull-up bar into so I was looking at getting one of the iron gym things. I was put off by reviews that said it damaged the door frame though. I’m a teeny person and I did wonder if it was just hulking great guys putting more more weight on the wood than it could handle (?) but it was enough to make me think twice.

Think I’ll just go for it and worry about the wood if it does crack https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

I just got an iron gym and the way that it works is that there’s an extra support that you can screw in so it doesnt sit directly on the frame if you don’t want it to. It’s secure and has held up to my weight (140 lbs) and my roomie’s (200) and he’s a bigger muscular guy so maybe they just didn’t use the extra brace? But it’s worth the cash. It’s a real workout and for having never done chin ups before, it’s hard if you aren’t used to holding your own weight that way. Hopefully this will help to fix my many grip issues https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif *crosses fingers* I’ll post results pics after a month so you can see whether or not it’s worth it for you https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
