  • Has anyone worked as a dancer or a stripper in a club?

Posted by brigittec016017 on April 5, 2014 at 12:53 am

Hi might be quite a controversial question but I’m wondering what the money is actually like working as a stripper in a club in melbourne Australia, just wondering if anyone has done it and their experience. Please don’t judge me but am toying with the idea as things aren’t going so well ATM financially won’t get into it I know their are other ways to make money I work so hard as a waitress for 20 dollars an hour and can’t help thinking surely I could do this and make more?

    Hi!
Honestly, this is the last place you’ll be judged in regards to exotic dancing for money– its a job.
Its hard for me to say because I have never worked in a club. I do however have two personal friends that did work in clubs. one of them was actually my very first pole teacher.
But, being that you are on the other other side of the world than me in the beautiful Oz (im dying to visit your country) I am not sure of the market you all have for strip clubs.
I livei in New Orleans, louisiana in the States and we are best known for Bourbon street to “party goers” from around the world, which has so many strip clubs.
From my understanding, the money comes and goes. For us, we thrive off mardi gras. The girls can make anywhere for 200$-3,000$ in one night during mardi gras.
And during the summer when the season slow, they might be lucky to walk out with 40$ a shift.
Its all going to depend on the market your area has and what type of club you work in…

Heya! I haven’t personally worked as a dancer, but I do know stripperweb is an amazing resource and has information about specific clubs! I’d definitely recommend heading over there and seeing what you can find. Good luck! 🙂

hi! i have worked as a dancer and the money can be great! but it can also be terrible! just depends on how busy your club is and how hard you work! i worked at a club in ohio, usa. on any given day i could make $0, or the most in one day was about 700. but on average, at least 1-300. i’d check out tuscl.net to see if they have a listing of clubs in your area to read their reviews so you can get an idea what clubs are nicer. if you have specific questions on working once you start, feel free to message me i’d be happy to give you tips

Hi Brigitte, I first started out as a waitress at a club when I was 19, after a friend brought me along to her club. I started actually dancing when I was 22 and was going to college and was barely getting by while attending school. It really helped my financial situation, but it caused a lot of stress in the relationship I was in. I am now 34 years old and have had all kinds of jobs, but I have always gone back to working as an exotic dancer when other jobs have not worked out. I love being able to perform every night and entertain people…but there are many ups and downs of the industry. I live in California and have never worked in Australia before, so I am not familiar with how they do things there. Here, a lot of clubs will have an amateur night where you can try out and win a prize of some sort. Some will let you do this every week, while others will only let you do it once if you win. Money can be quite good if you become a dancer, but there can be slow days as well. In the U.S., once the economy started having bad problems, a lot of clubs and other businesses were affected, so now it has become very different than what it used to be. If you have any specific questions, I would be happy to help. If you do decide to do this, I would be happy to give you some advice (advice given to me over the years that I’d be happy to share with you). Hope this helps, best of luck to you! 🙂

dancers dont make money anymore cause now escorts go down n dirty for 200$ , i would suggest that u stay a waitress and maybe sell outfits to the dancers ( have clients pay for them) build a clientele be flurty with guys keep your clothes on men wants what they cant have work them youll make more $$ than the dancers. dont dance girl this will change you forever

I disagree to some respect as I use to dance and made over 2,000 a night most nights. we never did anything down and dirty. camera’s everywhere and bouncers.
I enjoyed it with all my heart and I don’t feel changed at all. but some women don’t find it as exciting and fun to dance for a sexual crowd I suppose but I thrived on the power I felt. it is different for everyone. I was more frustrated as a waitress to be honest. play the game enjoy the power and it will never change you…. don’t forget that you are playing a role. a fantasy 🙂 bring out your alter ego! let escorts put out all they want but you will have a skill and if you are good at flirting you can bend any man you desire 🙂 all it takes is a simple whisper and a gentle look with a slow smile and putty is made. idk maybe I just like it. idk im just putting out there what happened for me. good luck in your search for work.

i guess it s all about where you are , i was in the aera of montreal so that tells you a lot lol. and by escorts i didnt meant girls at club . but seriously 2000 a night thats over 200 dances 10$ or 100 dances at 20$ did u had a time travel machine to stop time lol i never saw any dancers make that much in a night , ( unless they gave head lol) maybe 10 years ago but still. i think some girls are attracted to the idea of a more luxurious lifestyle but its all illusions.

I definitely think it depends on where you are. $2000 nights certainly aren’t common – but they are completely possible in clean clubs. However, it has to be a club that has a VIP room where you’re making $250 to $500 an hour to be in there (and yes, I have worked in completely clean clubs where that happened). In a clean club that just offers dances I think it would be extremely unlikely (but again, not completely impossible if you met the right guy). Overall, here in the US I would expect $250 – $700 a night at the clubs I usually work at, with occasional highs and lows) .

Overall, I would say think about 3 things – your personality, your market (what type of area you’re going to be dancing in) and the club. Those will make or break your experience.

Personality: You definitely have to have a strong personality to dance and not be bitter because of it. I’m not sure that anyone can go through any experience in life and not change (kind of what learning from life is), but you’re going to need a pretty strong and positive sense of self to not let all the negativity that can be present in clubs get you down. If you can’t just brush off men and women (often women who come in are worse than the men) telling you everything that is wrong with you think carefully about this. As for me, I also enjoy the power and the mind games that come from being a dancer – but you have to be sure that those mind games are only being played in one direction. If the customers are getting to you, then things are going to go downhill (both financially and emotionally) fast.

Your market is simply – what kind of area are you going to be working in? Is it blue collar? White collar? A tourist area that’s going to have seasonal fluctuations? Is it in an upscale part of town? Out in the country? Where the club is located is going to have a direct effect on it’s clientele. And different people work well with different clientele. I, for example, avoid large clubs in upscale areas with generally white collar clientele. I’m a tomboy at best and I don’t do well in these clubs. However, I can rock out a ton of money in a touristy area or a small country club.

Finally – get to know the club. Go visit. Talk to the dancers (but do it on a slow night/time so they’ll actually have time to talk to you). I’ve worked at clubs where the management is awesome. I’ve worked at (and walked out of halfway through the night) clubs where the management was doing drugs at the bar or was just in it to sleep with all the dancers. Some clubs are especially welcoming to new dancers, with the older dancers helping them out with everything from makeup to pole tricks. At other clubs new dancers are very much held at arms length till they prove themselves. And at a few clubs the “regular” dancers will be downright mean to new dancers. Also, get to know what the club expects from you. Do you need to wear an evening gown on the floor? Do you have to be naked by the end of your stage set? How much do they charge you to work there? How much do they take out of each dance? Out of stage tips? How much you have to spend on appearance (costumes, hair, makeup, nails, shoes) and how much of the money you make you give to them will both effect what you end up going home with at the end of the night.

Ok, this has gotten really long. Sorry about that everyone. Feel free to message me if you want more thoughts/info.

well our dances were $40 for 2 songs and $60 for 4 songs. I would never dance at a club that did super cheap dances! OMG. no lol our VIP rooms were 350 for 15 minutes of dancing. so yes VERY possible if you get the right club 🙂

    4 dances for 60$ is below 20$ a dance

why would the guys pay 350 for 15 minutes wich is like 4 regular songs in time when they can get it for 60$ then

cause we all know whats goin on in vip s lol…. so ladies no illusions here you wont make 2000 a night nowhere unless u …. u know what i mean . its not just about empowering and ming games and unicorns … its about bj s and much more

$350 is a lot for 15minutes, if you could get 4 songs for $60. guess if the guys are drunk enough you can convince them that’s a bargain. lol.

you should definitely go to stripperweb.com and see if they have reviews on clubs in your area. this will give you an idea of how much dancers make in your area. I am really surprised to hear that a dancer would make &2000 a night at a club in Alabama. people are poor as shit in Alabama and don’t pay that much for anything. but I guess there are specific clubs that cater to different clientelle

It sooooooo depends on the area. The clubs that are near airports or high business areas can pull in lots of clientele most days of the week although taking business men out to the clubs has been getting more and more frowned upon by businesses. Money is definitely made doing private dances or VIP. My niece can pull in $500 for an hour in VIP before payout here in Raleigh. She only works weekends and typically makes $500-1000 a weekend.
