    Hey techies!

I am fairly competent when it comes to tech stuff, so this problem is driving me up the wall! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cyclops_ani.gif

I want to find a program that will make it really easy to sync my audio with my video… but the stickler is i’m MATCHING the audio track to the song playing in the background of my vid.

Example… today i practiced to pink. now i want to make a video, but i want a fresh audio track b/c i can’t stand the squeal of my skin, the grunting and the clunking of the shoes. So i import the vid, and import the track as well. WMM has been giving me HELL getting them exactly synced up though. I do like that you can adjust how much of the playback your hearing is coming from the vid vs the audio track, but i just can’t get them perfectly in sync. I know it’s probably OCD, but I’m a emphasis dancer and big beats and stuff are very important in my dances… so i want it to be exactly on.

Not only that, WMM loves to freeze up on me, as it does for others, so I’m over it.

Any suggestions for another software that’s free? I tried Pinnacle VideoSpin, and while I like a lot on it, I don’t like how hard it is to hear the vid playback once the audio track has been added… there’s no easy way to mute or adjust the volume and so i can’t tell if it’s layered exactly right or if it’s off. i can tell a bit by the dancing it’s off, but i’d like to hear it too.

Just downloaded a torrent version of Vegas, might give that a go too… but anyone else find something you find easy to work with but a little more advanced on the layering front??

    Thanks!

Just wondering… When you try to match up the audio, did you zoom in on the project timelines all the way to try to match up the audio??? Click on the little magnifying glass and zoom in as far as it’ll go, and it lets you drag the stuff in smaller increments instead of "jumping" like it does when you are zoomed out. Just a suggestion; it still may not come out perfectly. You can always get it as close as possible and just mute your original audio, too, so it doesn’t sound funny.

I really don’t have suggestions on other editing software… Rouge would be the one to ask and she’s the biggest voice against WMM on here. I think I probably annoy her because I’m always suggesting people use it (but not as a permanent solution, though!)

For the record (this is for Rouge especially https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_tongue.gif) : The only reason why I suggest WMM is because everyone* should already have it on their computers and I hate it when people think they can’t make and post a video just because they don’t have anything to make a movie with. I personally only use it because my pole videos are the only movies I make and I don’t really want to put much time and energy into finding a different program and such – this is especially true because I really am not even a Windows user anymore! Linux doesn’t have much in the way of movie software (yet) and the only reason I even still have Windows is for making/editing movies and because I haven’t gotten my music squared away on Linux yet and I need to have something to sync my iPod.

So yes, Rouge and Notradya are right – WMM is a horrible program, there are better out there. But I just say to give it a try so you can make some movies in the meantime. Don’t let those precious beginner movie clips go unposted just because you think you can’t make a movie!

*"everyone" – I say "everyone" as in the victims of the Microsoft monopoly, which should be and probably is illegal, that have Windows…

I’m using Sony vegas platinum home edition thingymajig, I’m not technically minded but I’m figuring it out. It has a sound studio as well as the video editing software, and I’ve imported soundtracks between the two with a measure of success.

Hope that is vaguely useful – hopefully one of the techies will be more helpful! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

Wow… so i downloaded a torrent of the Vegas Pro 9 (naughty i know) and WOW… that is an awesome editing program!!!

I was as far zoomed in as I could get on the WMM timeline, and i still couldn’t match up the audio right, it was so frustrating.

Tried Vegas and OMG, it was so easy and perfect to match… really good. The first time i downloaded it i did something wrong so it was an incomplete version and i couldn’t access the transition effects, so i didn’t publish my first attempt and i reinstalled it. now that i have it working fully I’m gonna view a few online tutorials to see how to quickly navigate around the program to get the full benefits, then i’m off and running… i’ll have some new vids up shortly now b/c i did a session yesterday that i can’t wait to upload, but i’ve got an exam tomorrow so must focus on boring things for just a little while longer… https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_shaking2.gif

i’ll post some more feed back once i’ve played around with it for a bit. for those that are tech savvy, and don’t mind the torrent options with cracks and keygens, this is a good one. if that’s a foreign language to you newbies, don’t worry, WMM will do you fine until you find that you need something more complex- and if you don’t, just stick with WMM!!

lol. wmm 0, vegas 1. again…. and my words of wisdom are out there https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

WMM is a crappy programme and the thing is, you can download a trial of vegas for free or torrent it if needs be.

Glad you’ve found something way better than WMM.
