Curious about the X Stage Lite brass
Posted by EnigmaHoops on January 18, 2012 at 6:41 pmSo I’ve been researching a pole purchase through the forums here (thank you for all the help, by the way) and decided on the X Stage Lite 45mm. There was a lot of buzz about the new brass coming out and I was wondering if anyone has worked with it yet? I’m unsure between chrome and brass and would love some input before purchasing. I know there’s a lot in the forums on chrome versus brass, which is helpful… & confusing at times;). Perhaps someone out there has some input on the specific product? Any help is greatly appreciated. Gotta get it right the first time you know…they’re expensive! Thank you so much:)

There have been some old topics on the x pole brass:

It seems that everyone reacts differently to the finishes. Some girls grip to chrome better, some girls grip to brass better. If you have access to both pole finishes, it's best to try them (preferably the x pole brass if that's what you are getting as it is said to be slicker than other pole brands brass.)

I can’t comment on chrome vs. brass, because I haven’t used chrome. But, I do have the x stage lite with a brass 45 and I love it. I had really poor grip with my legs the first few days, but it improved after cleaning the pole really well. Maybe it’s all in my mind, or I’m just adapting to the size/metal but, it seems like the pole grip has improved after using it for a while.

Thank you so much for the links! Now for more research;) Unfortunately, I don’t have access to any poles, which is why I’m looking for as much input as possible before purchasing. Come spring I’m leveling out a chunk of the backyard and laying concrete. Can’t wait to pole in my garden! Spring fever:/ By the way, the pups in your profile pic are adorable:)

Is you body type dry or sweaty?? That will play a factor in what you react better to.
My pups are my babies (as crazy as they are.)

Akride357 – I missed your response before I posted, sorry. Thank you. It’s nice to get the opinion of someone who’s used the specific product. I was talking myself out of brass, but now it’ll take more thinking. The song Brass Monkey will not get out of my head;)

My body type’s dry for the most part. Which finish is best for that? Not to say that my palms and behind the knees wouldn’t “glisten” during a good workout;)
Yeah, my 2 kitties are crazy boys too. Workday is just too long for a dog unfortunately. -
You should talk to Veena about the 2 finishes. She mentioned in another forum topic recently that she could not work with the x pole brass since she has really dry skin. She has a chrome pole though, so it might be that you may react the same way??? Although she says she doesn't really sweat at all. It's hard to say really. I haven't danced on chrome, so I don't know how it feels. All I now is that people say the x pole brass is slicker than other brass poles (and when my skin was super dry I had to use grip aids on my body to grip to my PS brass pole, but my body wasn't sweating at all.) Ah, I keep thinking you might be okay with the brass, but I really don't know. If you aren't super dry, then you should be fine, but if you are desert dry, then the brass might be really hard for you. Is there a reason my you are getting a stage instead of a regular x pert?? TG might be better for you. I know one girl on here recently bought the A & B pole of the brass pole for her chrome pole and just swapped out her pieces. https://www.studioveena.com/forums/view/My_new_2_tone_X_Pole_rocks_20111227010203
Another girl got so fed up with the slickness of her brass x pole that she powder coated it:https://www.studioveena.com/forums/view/For_anyone_with_trouble_gripping_brass_Xpole_20111130023904

I was looking at stages for the portability aspect. I’m converting my garage into a dance space since my house has low ceilings & I don’t have a car. It’s just full of my garden & hoop supplies anyways. But when it’s nice out I get claustrophobic. The thought of being able to pole surrounded by flowers is too tempting. Do you know how humidity affects the brass? I live in MN, where the summer can get hot & humid. You have PS brass? Do you have experience with TG? I’m sorry for picking your brain like this, there are just so many options & factors it’s a bit mind boggling:/

Wow! Go play on Veena's poles! That will be the BEST way for you to know what is best. And yes, I do have experience with TG. I actually own one. I find it has pretty good grip and warms up pretty fast. It can give some pole burn once it's warm. It's not as grippy as my PS brass pole, but it's a different metal. It is pretty good if you are looking for a little extra something grip-wise and if your body gets tacky, it works really well for sticking. If you are dry, you will probably need a grip aid (at least I did, but that would be for almost ANY finish you purchase; not a big deal.) I was able to stick to it pretty well in my sweaty days. 🙂 I updated to the brass cuz I wanted a little extra grip (I'm greedy.) FYI, the stainless steel Veena has will probably have a better grip than the x pole stainless (I've read the new xpert stainless is super slippery.) I also read in a REALLY OLD thread somewhere to avoid brushed stainless, which is what the new x pert is (and that comment was made way before the new stainless x pert came out.) I tried the PS stainless and it felt similar is slickness to the lilmynx stanless (to me at least.) Sorry, that was off topic…
Anyways, go have fun on Veena's poles! 🙂

Yowza! How could I possibly say no to that opportunity?? What’s the best way to contact you Veena? Do you have a physical studio also that I should book a class with? I have absolutely minimal pole experience. I came across poling in my “hoop life” and was intrigued by the extra physicality of it. I love strength and flexibility training;) The reason I’m going the route of the online classes and a pole at home is that I work 50hr weeks, no car & am a single mother:/ Fitness is my sanity saver at the end of the day I’ve been saving up for a pole and a set of silks and am finally at the point where I can/have to do it. Hmm, no worries about rambling sensualscimitar

Whoops, dang comp posted while I was battling auto correct on your name. Was going to say that was quite the ramble of my own:/ nervous. Guess I want Veena know that I’ve been plotting and planning for this, but am such a newbie it’s ridiculous *shrug* Fortunately the pole community seems just as accepting and lovely as the hoop community;)

Yay Enigma! I'll send you an email from my profile here. I'm so excited, it should be really helpful for you to try many finishes at once!
