    Hi Shellectra!
Thanks for answering that for me.
I made an enquiry to the Pole Dance Shop which also sells to Aussies and the guy I was in contact with didn’t know if the dome and base are made out of brass.
I’ll let him know and ask him to confirm that for me.

Am thinking of buying it and picking it up as it saves me $46 in shipping! Haha. Will need to call my credit card company to ask how much the fee will be and if the seller takes PayPal.
My boyfriend mentioned to me that if you pay via PayPal then you won’t be charged any international bank fees (seller is based in the US).
It seems to be a lot cheaper than buying it from X-Pole Aus directly! Anything for a good bargain! ;p Hahaha.

How are you finding the maintenance side of things? Have you polished it yet with Brass-O?

I’m not entirely sure if I want to sell my Chrome X-Pert just yet even if I get a brass pole. Just incase I ever want to pole on something less grippy if I don’t like the brass. Hope not cuz it’s a costly investment, isn’t it?!

    Sorry, another question…
Is the brass really shiny when you first got it out of the box?
Did it get more dull with usage?

I am just adding a bit of brass knowledge.  Brass is a very soft metal that easily dings and misaligns.  The cover has very fine threads when it screws on and with brass those can easily get stripped due to its "softness". (the softness is the reason it has grip).  The same holds true with the dome.  I have heard of people dimpling their dome tops from overtightening or it not being level.  I am not sure if brass would give the same amount of tension needed before collapsing.  Part of the beauty of the XPoles is their engineering design.  They did not cheapen the poles but not having these parts made of brass, they wanted to be sure that the safety was still intact and also make sure that no damage was done to the threads.  (I have stripped brass threads…it is VERY easy to do).

Thanks heaps for that bit of info, Chem Goddess!

Yeah, I got confirmation that the dome and base are made of TG. The guy was really nice in explaining it to me via email, basically what you explained to me in a nutshell.
I also asked him if it's shiny when it's out of the box and he said that it is unpolished. The only way to get it shiny was to use Brasso.

Still pondering whether or not to take the plunge and spoil myself by buying a Brass X-Pert.

For those of who you have the Brass X-Pert, would you say it's a "High Maintenance" pole? I'm the kind of gal that's just touch and go. I don't like to spend my time maintaining or cleaning my stuff. HAHA. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

I have not found it high maintenance whatsoever, Joyful.  Once I wiped the factory finish off it, it has been fantastic and I have not had to do a thing to it.  I can also go through practice sessions where I don't have to use any grip at all now, which is wonderful, and even less maintenance!!

Grip is SO much better!!!!!!!! I wipe the pole down maybe twice max in an hour-1.5hr session with some glass cleaner on a cloth and it gets the grip back for me, but otherwise I barely slip, and if I do it's cos my hands are suddenly sweating (they seem to get sweaty if I think about a move too much and get nervous LOL)

I AM SO HAPPY I got my brass xpole!!!!!! it's so much better to use than a chrome one for me 🙂

Wow, that is so great to hear, ladies!

It's such a huge indulgence for me if I were to splurge on a Brass X-Pert right now. I am looking at a crash mat for pole from a friend who is importing some over. She's giving it to me at a special price and it was more expensive than I thought.
I think I would rather invest in that right now than to think seriously about selling my Chrome and buying a Brass straight away. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif

If only I knew someone who wanted my Chrome! HAHA. That would be nice…

Glad to hear that it's not as high maintenance as I thought.

Have either or your's started to tarnish a bit at all?

joyful – Not much tarnish at all on mine, a small fingerprint sized area at the very top of the pole and a few dots about waist height, so really not much tarnishing at all!

chwenny – i live in australia so I got mine off the australian xpole website 🙂

I’m another one with a 45mm chrome xpert xpole and I have been looking into the brass too because I also have a terrible time with grip due to my damned sweaty hands!!!
Reading that it is a softer metal scares me though because I’d be worried that I’d strip the threads in no time!
I started using metho to clean it with no luck…then used window cleaner for a bit and still no luck. Now I just use straight white vinegar in a spray bottle and that seems to help alot more….but just not enough!!!
Keep us informed on how Mr Brassy is holding up Shellectra!! You may just convert me to getting a brassy myself!! 🙂

5 Butterflys….the threads are not made of brass.  There was discussion about the bottom piece that slides over the adjuster and dome looking like they were another material, which they are (titanium gold).  There are very very very fine threads on the cover piece that keep it in place that would not be good if that piece was made of brass.

Hey ladies, many of you have compared the brass to the chrome poles but i'm wondering how you guys think it compares to the titanium gold pole. i'm wondering which i should get and hearing how you all are so fed up with the slick chrome polehttps://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif makes me think i should invest in…well, not a chrome polehttps://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif  sooo…i don't know, should i stick it out for the awesome grippy brass pole you're all raving about (even though i'm a little worried about the wear and tare of it and maintenance) or is the titanium gold a nice happy easy to maintain medium?https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif

I have tried titanium, titanium gold, chrome and brass and I prefer my brass by far.
I use practically no grip ever on brass and have had no problem with keeping it clean or anything. Titanium gold would be the next choice though, if I couldn’t have brass

Hi Shellectra…I have just bought myself a 45inch brass x-pole!! arrived a couple of days ago.  I have always found brass good to use and have had equal success with sticking to both chrome and brass at my pole studio.  I must say tho that I am a little worried about my new brassy pole friend!  It seems to havve more of a brushed finish than the brass that I am used too, the studio poles (which ARE definatley brass) seem more polished and shiny than my xpole!! and I cant do half the stuff I can do in class on it for the dry slide I have.  No pole sits, no bat holds, no scorpio gemminis at ALL can be achieved!  WtF!!  Did you do anything to the finish of your pole after recieving it to adjust the manufactures finish on the brass?  I feel that the only thing I am going to do is to completley slather my body in Mighty Grip!!!!  Help….AnYoNe??

I just sold my brand new brass Xpole because it was so slippery.
Xpole do not use real brass, it’s only a spray on brass coating or “finish”.
The brass coating will wear off over time.
I was told that each batch of brass xpoles will be different as the quality of the brass coating will vary.
Xpole are unable to make their poles solid brass as it is a softer metal and a multi piece pole would not hold up if it was real brass.
I am saving my money for a solid brass pussycat pole.
I know that @Shellectra and many other people love their brass xpoles but I was not one of them.
I was really dissaponted in the finish.
I had great grip on hands but no grip whatsoever on any other body part.

Thanks 5Butterflies!!  I am having exactly the same issues and am truely disappointed ahy…so sad.  I am going tomake a real effort to talk to the manufacturers about this and find out id there is anything i can do to improve its finish.  thanks for the heads up on the brass coating on it.  The only thing i find gets me to stick is if i have a slight amount of sweat moisture on my skin to provide tackiness momentarily….if anyone sticks with their brass x-pole ok…how do you do it, do you use grip aids, or nothing at all?

What?!  I thought it was solid brass, beause I once emailed x-pole in australia and asked them about that.

This is what I asked: "Are the brass poles solid brass, or is it just some kind of brass coating and some other metal underneath?"

This is the answer I got: "They are brass. Light soft metal. So yes solid brass."

How do you know for sure it's just a coating?

I have nickel allergy and when the poles have been used for some time the nickel starts to appear, and that goes for both the chrome and the titanium gold. And I thought since the brass would be solid brass, it would be alright.

I can still use my chrome at home, but not the poles in class. My instructor was thinking about getting a brass when they have them in stock in the UK(I live in Sweden), but if it's going to be the same nickel-problem with the brass it wouldn't be much use getting one. So then the only alternatives would be a colored Lil' Mynx pole. Or a stainless steel, but I've heard they're very slippery…

Yep it’s true I’m afraid! I don’t know why they told you it was solid brass because it defintly is not 🙁
Xpole Australia confirmed this with me less than a month ago.
I don’t recommend Xpole to anyone. I’d get a Lil Mynx or some other brand.
Like I said, there will be many people out there that love their xpoles but I hate mine 🙁

So I called Xpole today just to enquire about the brass pole and I spoke to a lady named Diana.
She told me that they are def not solid brass, but she said that it is a “mix” of a few different metals. Alloy being the main one.
Funnily though, the other lady I spoke to previously, Jessie, was pretty clear that it was just a brass “coating”.

So, if 2 staff from the same company have different opinions of what the pole is made of then where does that leave the customer?!
I don’t trust them at all.
The amount of time and stress that from Xpole caused me by not replying to my emails, not answering any of the phones, not having an answering machine to leave messages, me having to chase EVERYTHING up with them, diana telling me parts had been sent when they hadn’t at all, then sending my pole to my OLD address when I had changed my details with Diana and told her to delete my old address from her system. When I queried her with the whereabouts of my pole, making sure she didn’t post it to my old address, she belittled me and assured me she would not have done that, and procceeded to tell me the courier had tried several times to deliver the pole and I must have not been home (as if! I’d been waiting by the door for almost a week! He had been trying to deliver to my old address that she ‘didn’t’ send it too. GRRRRR).
So I call the courier company to find out what is going on, and low and behold she DID send it to my old address!!!!!!!
The worst bit being though that she had tried to fix it up herself with the courier and didn’t let me know! She just contined to make me feel like a complete idiot for even having the idea that she may have made a mistake!!! ARRRGGGHHHH!!

    I was absolutely FURIOUS!!!!

So that is why I don’t trust Xpole OR do I believe a word they say, especially what the lady Diana says anyhow.

Sorry for that turning into a massive rant I had to get it off my chest and let everyone know why I hate Xpole so much!!
It was the worst customer service I have ever seen.

So no, the poles are not solid brass.

    @ reeree-
I have a brass xpole and I had the same problem that you are having now- I was devastated !
No stick on my body but great grip on my hands.
What changed all that was making sure that my pole room had been heated up about ten mins before I went in there and I made sure I’d put moisturizer on either the day before or morning of poling.
    Hope this helps you!

Are Xpoles brass seriously not all brass? I thought they were, thats why I got one!!! I tested out cleaning it last night with "Brasso" a brass cleaner, and I used it right up the top of the pole where I never grip. Well it ended up taking the deep brass bronzey color off and underneath is a light silvery/goldy color with NO GRIP at all! So they must be coated! you can't even use brass cleaner on them!!!

Xpole do have bad customer service I have heard from 2 other friends who had to communicate with them 🙁

Yeah seriously 🙁 How totally crap is it. That’s so bad about the top of your pole 🙁
They said that because real brass is so soft, it wouldn’t withstand the pressure of being a multi piece set up, so that’s why they are only coated or “mixed” with other metals.
I questioned Diana today about wether it would rub off over time and she denied that would ever happen (but read my above post about how much I’d believe any of what she says).
Yeah they were really nice to begin with but the more questions I asked the more shady they became and when I started having issues with my 5 month old pole that’s when their true colors really came through.
Jessie (the other xpole lady) was adamant that the brass is just a coating.
I asked why their brass is is so much cheaper than the rival companies, Diana replied with “it’s only because we are a larger company, so we can”.
Totally the worst customer service in history!
Sorry @shellectra 🙁 I wish I knew all this ages ago so I could have warned you!! X

I have a pure brass pole, and I also bought the x pole brass because i'm moving to another country and wanted an adjustable pole (my good brass is a single piece)  I have to agree with the others here, the x pole does not have the same feel as real brass.  I specifically bought it because the company lead me to believe I was buying a brass pole, and didnt say anything otherwise, had I known I would have went with PS
