I love that one, too! Ottersocks does a phenomenal one in her Polestock vid. I think it’s towards the end. I’ve been trying to practice it, but I think it’s one of those moves you’ve got to video because looking at it upside down in the mirror is really confusing. I’d love to see a tutorial (hint, hint).

Thank God Jenyne wasn’t hurt! That looked like a 25 ft drop from that rigging…and she was in heels, too! She was utterly gorgeous before and after. She showed complete grace and poise. Thank you Jenyne, for showing us what physical and mental strength it takes to be a competitor.

Depending on your ceiling and the height of it, you can put up a permanent top mount on the joist and install a Lil Mynx pole. This pole can be taken down quickly and the space is cleared for other uses. Warning: often the floor will get scratched! Also, the stainless steel Lil Mynx pole is very slippery and the powder-coated one gets scratched fairly easily. To be honest, it’s my least favorite pole, but I just wanted to tell you that there is another option out there as well.

Hi Soul Pole. Warm welcome to Studio Veena!

Hi Heth! Warm welcomes to StudioVeena! There are lots of girls here from the LA area (I’m so jealous!), and it seems like such a great place to pole. If you’re learning at home, be sure to check out Veena’s lessons. They’re really invaluable and I’ve learned a great deal from them. There’s also Chat on Fridays (which I unfortunately miss) and it’s a great way to get to know a lot of the members!

I’m sorry to open up a can of worms here, but what happened in the voting???? The last time I checked, which was probably a couple of hours before voting "closed", Alicia had the most votes by far. Now they’ve announced that Shelley won the online voting. Please note that this post is not about talent of the dancers in any way, shape or form. I thought the dancer with the most votes was supposed to win. Anybody have a clue?

Hi Robyn! Welcome to SV. Where in Miami Beach are you? I used to live on South Beach at 18th & Washington. Where are you taking classes? I think the pole community in Miami has grown quite a bit since I left. I heard there are a few studios to choose from now. Awesome! What a great place to pole. I’d love to see some Afro-Brazilian dance–could you post a video some time?
