Hi Ronnie! Welcome to SV! I’m sure you will love it here. All the girls are beautiful, wonderful, funny and supportive people. There is NEVER any negativity and a ton of freedom to be whoever you are and accepted for being that! Oh, and all the gals are sexy, sassy and incredible dancers! I learn from each and every one of them. Am I gushing…yeah, I guess I am…

Ooooh, thanks for posting that link. She’s got an awesome flow about her turns and she really uses her body and hair as emphasis! Take a look at Starrgrrrl’s vids–in my opinion, her footwork is really spectacular. It’s like she’s continuously linking her movements together very seemlessly and effortlessly. It makes my jaw drop every time I watch her! Have fun with the pirouettes–remember to go the other way when you get dizzy!!!!

Any sort of headstand or elbow stand DOES NOT PUT ANY HARD PRESSURE ON YOUR HEAD!!!!! In yoga, it is acceptable to put only about 10% (or less, if you’ve got the strength) of your weight on your head. The majority of the strength is in the contact points on the floor (either your forearms, or your hands). If you put too much weight on your head, it’s your neck that will get injured because it’s not supposed to bear that much weight. Engaging your back muscles and keeping your shoulders down and back (thanks, Veena!) is probably the biggest part of this pose. The rest is in abdominal strength. So for the elbow/forearm stand, put your arms down on the floor (IMPORTANT: your elbows should be no farther away than a forearm’s length or it might agitate your shoulder) and then gently set your head down. You should be able to easily push your head up from the floor. Then walk your feet in as close to your face as you can (bend your knees slightly if your hamstrings are tight)–then your back should be pressing against the pole (or wall if you’re practicing there). From there, your dominant leg will reach up to find the pole or wall and if you need it, the sub leg can gently push up to meet it. The best way is to utilise your abdominals and come up with both legs straight. Until you’re comfortable with this move, it would be best to have a spotter just in case. Now that I know how to make videos, I can make you a short tutorial if it’s ok with Veena. As a former yoga instructor, I find that most people don’t know how to properly teach headstands and this move is all about safety and alignment.

Yeah, I just posted my very first video (after being on SV practically since the beginning!) and I ran away from the computer because I was afraid. When I got back on to peek, I had gotten a lot of comments and responded to each one. I would hate to think that someone took the time to watch and comment, and think that I wouldn’t take the time to respond back to their kind words or encouragement! I do think that responding personally by sending an email is a good idea, but I would hate to invade someone’s personal cyberspace if they hadn’t invited me in, you know what I mean? I think Webmaster is working on something but it would take a huge amount of work for them. But it would be nice…

Holy crap! That’s a hardcore exercise! Wow to all of you that do it! I want to try, but feel that I’d be eating the floor…

Ooooh, so young…
Have a wonderful day–you deserve it!
Big kiss, big hug -
Might you be trying to squeeze the pole between your hamstring and your calf? That might be why your calf is sore. Try to relax that knee-hold just a little bit and see if that’s better. And of course, just like Roxy said, stretch!

Wow, London, CONGRATULATIONS! Don’t let those insecure, threatened, ungrounded, bitchy girls get you down! That’s so amazing that you won! I’m so impressed that you even went and entered. I don’t know what it is about our society that makes us so defensive about everything. It’s sad that those girls were so scared that you’d "take" money out of their pockets and had to bad-mouth you. Maybe if they knew you weren’t gunning for a job, they’d be a little more considerate, but at least here in Vegas, amateur nights are really tough because you get so much attitude from the girls who are working. So sorry about that part, but so happy for you for winning! Big hugs to you!

My sisters ended up getting me one for an early birthday present and it is truly easy and AWESOME! They got me the Ultra HD 8GB. It costs around $200 but I saw it a week later for $179.99 at Costco so look around for bargains. Since my husband is away monday-friday, I take videos of our son every day to send out (to him, to the grandparents, family & friends, etc). I have a Mac, so it’s super simple. So far, I haven’t put a pole vid out there yet, but when I do, I know it’ll be super easy. The only thing is there’s not a lot of panoramic view so you’ve got to film your dance from fairly far away. I’ve been experimenting with distance and have gotten a lot of dances on film where you might only see me from the waist down or even from the knee down! All in all, I LOVE this camcorder.
