    Sabien,

At StudioVeena.Com we are fortunate to be able to serve thousands of members world-wide every day, this experience and contact has given us tremendous insight into the language of the community. While there are some common names that we use, there are other names that are different from school to school. The assertion that there is a common lexicon between schools, much less hundreds of schools, is simply incorrect. The lack of this common terminology is why there are very prominent members of the community doing extensive research to develop a common language. Naming schemes are generally based on the focus of the school whether exotic, fitness or dance and further tempered by the background of the instructor/s.

We have in most cases adopted terminology for our moves that is descriptive in nature and an accepted name/term in the community.

As to your login difficulties I can suggest trying another browser, and updating your flash for chat problems. Generally login problems are caused by malware(spyware or viruses) in the browser you are using while chat problems can be caused by requiring an update to your flash component (found at http://www.flash.com).

Sabien, you can do everything on this site except watch paid lessons. You are not restricted from any other activity.

Also, currently there is no international standard lexicon of names for pole moves. Pole as an industry is still in its infancy, and is just starting to become unified in its approach. It is highly unlikely that you would go from one pole studio to another and have all, or even most of, the move names be the same.

It is under the 50 pound weight limit so yes you can take it on the plane as long as you are willing to pay the baggage fee with the airline.

Try a different browser, http://www.firefox.com is a good one or http://www.google.com/chrome. If IE is restarting there is a problem with your IE, a new browser should fix it.

What do you see when you can’t see videos?

If you see a continually spinning wheel your flash is working but something in your network is blocking the videos.

If you see nothing or a little puzzle piece or some other non-spinning wheel your flash is not working properly and you will want to go to http://www.flash.com to reinstall it.

The best bet is to visit http://www.flash.com first anyway and download and install the new flash client.

Any format should work, however just like Youtube a video occasionally doesn’t work for some inexplicable reason. The best way to remedy that is to make some kind of change that affects the whole video. What I mean by this is compressing it a little, changing the format or something else similiar.

We are unable to ship an X-Pole to you due to our contracts with X-Pole. X-Pole UK services Europe including APO addresses there. You should have no problem getting an X-Pole fairly quickly by visiting X-Pole UK at http://www.verticalleisure.com/.

There have been alot of opinions about the alleged goings on, here are facts about how the law views these allegations:

    1) Unless otherwise governed by contract a person may do as they wish with their time, whatever that is, regardless of how they arrived at a location or by whose means.
    2) Flight and/or Room are not generally considered compensation or consideration.
    3) Forcing someone to renege on a contract through using duress is blatantly illegal.
    4) Amended contracts with no additional consideration are generally un-enforceable.

I would also like to agree with Veena, let’s not drag USPDF out in this. We do not know the entire situation.

Normally I don’t chime in on conversations here, this site is for all you wonderful pole dancers, I am just the guy who keeps the windows clean and puts gas in the tank occassionally.

That being said, I want to contribute here. Generally speaking oversight for a sport or physical art-form is provided by a governing body operating as a non-profit that is IMPARTIAL to its competitors and member businesses/organizations. They provide a framework for ranking, judging and operating safely that helps to insure that everyone plays fairly and on the same playing field. They generally require member organizations and athletes to adhere to a code of ethics. MOST IMPORTANTLY they recognize competition as essential not only in the sport but also in the industry.

Pole-dancing does not have this type of organization, that I am aware of. We have people who put on competitions, this is fun but entirely flawed as it provides no unified, unbiased platform on which to operate. No one two or three of us regardless of how skilled has the experience to govern an entire sport. No single organization with its own commercial interests can properly guide an entire sport. Over time we will need to band together, choose our leaders, and proceed to build a stronger sport/art.
