@MommaBear – The pieces fit properly, it is simply how the pole arrived. We actually experienced four distinct manufactering defects with our SSA:
1) We were sent pink stage panels first which Platinum Stages found shrunk creating more gapping than usual between the stage pieces. These were replaced with black panels.
2) The locking pin did not fit at first, Keith told me that sometimes there is extra chrome in the locking pin hole and just to find something to scrape it out. What was finally able to clean it was a drill bit but the pin sticks, however it does go in now, albeit with a little effort.
3) The end cap for the pole that was forgotten in the original package didn't fit when it finally arrived. They had to send us a second one.
4) The pole was warped.

@poledanceromance – The pole for the SSA uses their EZ connect joint, which honestly is kinda neat. The female and male joints snap together and are held in place by a spring loaded ball bearing. Both poles were smoothe and yes the X-Pole uses the X-Joint which we have had not any issues with. There is absolutely no chrome covered plastic on the SSA.
@LizzyLiz810 – We simply showed our experience, the reason for the demo was to try and remove hearsay from the situation. If we were to involve hearsay there is a list of things that we could have included about both poles, but at that point where do we draw the line and how do we maintain integrity, this was purely our experience.
@Empyrean – You are correct, we were not asked to review taller poles, nor were we asked to demo multi-piece poles. The specific request was the stage pole.

We thought about covering locking mechanisms but that was another “sticky” scenario. Our pin didn’t fit at first, then at Keith’s suggestion I scraped the extra chrome away inside the lock hole. Even after clearing the chrome though the locking pin was sticky and difficult to remove and insert.

I would like to thank everyone for the support they've shown.
Veena worked really hard on this video and tried really, really hard to be objective and omit any editorial content so that people can make up their own minds. There were alot of opinion pieces that could have been included but we didn't want to shade the issues. Everything in the video is fact, you will notice zero opinion and really nothing that could be misconstrued, both poles were shot at the same angle and no video magic was used. We agonized over every detail of this, we wanted to be fair and at the same time present the information you need to make a proper decision in buying a pole without trying to tell anyone which pole they should choose.
When Keith from Platinum Stages asked us to review his pole and gave suggestions such as a side by side review. He assured us that he wanted to know the good and the bad so that he could improve his products where they need improving. I take him at his word, and while I have not yet heard from him tonight, I am certain by the fact that Erica has been posting on the site that they are fine with what we presented, even if a couple zealots seem to think that we presented in a negative light.
While we really, really, really appreciate the support I would love for the conversation to switch back to discussion of the poles and your experiences with them as well as feelings regarding the video. We very much want to know how you feel about those things and are less concerned with rude users.

@Cocao0 – If you could send me a critique via the email function on the site or directly to webmaster@studioveena.com I am genuinely interested in anything we can do to improve. In this case what we tried to do was simply shoot the primary mechanical aspects of each pole. Veena specifically tried to steer clear of any type of editorial comentary, you'll notice she gives no opinion only states and demonstrates facts. Thanks ahead of time for your help.

@PaytonPlays – I'm confused??? Did you just say that novices won't perform on it only experienced people will perform on it but experienced people won't perform on it?
I was told by an informed source that the Star Standalone was being used by a tremendous number of competitions this year. So it seems that it is being asked to serve, and being sold as a competition piece.

@PaytonPlays – Please remember that center of gravity changes as a poler moves on the pole. Also if you did understand physics you would know that it is reasonably possible to expect a dancer to exert an outward force exponentially larger than my body weight. Also notice that the force I exerted was a single swing of the leg and not throwing my bodyweight into it.
Also ouch on the fat thing, have we descended into blatant name-calling here?

To All – This is nothing to worry about, we have it under control. This is not a virus, nor is it dangerous. It is simply annoying.
New Year's is a common time for spammers to spread their garbage on the internet and they have taken a particular interest in us this year. I've spent the day devising new rulesets and functionality in the site to keep these people from dumping their garbage here.
In the mean time, if you happen to see something that looks iffy please feel free to email me directly. The more information I have the better effort I can put forth to keep these guys out.

The easiest way to upload a video to here is from your computer. If you can copy the video to your computer you can upload from there. Phone support for video uploads is spotty at best.
