aerialgypsy, oh! That screw. I bought my stage secondhand. I never got the hex key or whatever to place into that one. So i’ve never touched it. I need to get one.

The bearing unit moves. i removed all the screws, tried lubing it all up. still won’t push down. i’ll try wd 40 though. i was thinking of that earlier. currently since i can’t push it all the way down, the screws in the base, i can’t reach. so its basically stuck on spin until i can figure this out.

December 30, 2013 at 3:25 pm in reply to: How much training do you all do per week?

After meeting my weight goal, things started lagging. And I started working more, so… 🙁 sad. Anyway, before then, 3 to 4 times a week, I’d pole for an hour. I’d warm up with a little weight/strength training. In between I’d go running or walking or do some aerobics that would equal up to about an hour or so.

Trying to find a balance again where I can be consistent. I miss my pole.

To improve my inverts, so i can get all the moves associated with inverting. Right now. I’m obsessed with trying to learn an Advanced Star. I’ve managed to finally get it from the floor. Next step in getting my invert correct to transition into the position. ALMOST THERE! 🙂

wow lol this discussion got so heated. feeling really bad for this writer. granted, she didnt quite take the necessary steps to learn more about pole fitness. but at the same time she probably didnt talk to the right people. i think rather than attack with information, someone should offer this woman a real class, not just a ‘sexy, lets grind’ class. or have her watch artful competitions. i think she’ll be quite surprised when she walks in and an instructor tells her she needs to warm and stretch her muscles before EVER touching that pole. the next surprise might be that you wont be spinning right away. holding on while walking and pole ups are beginner 🙂 and when the sore muscles hit thr next day, her tune might change. and just to blow her mind show her a human flag.

This was a fascinating article and the comments in the discussion were just amusing. I can't help but chuckle with amusement at some of it. Yes, pole stems slightly from stripping, but that's only half the story. I don't believe she did enough research on pole dancing. Mainly only went with the route that it's used today as a way to empower women. There's far more to the history than that. Also, guys pole too! And its not all necessarily to be sexy. The fact that it was not mentioned in this article, tells me the research was not done thoroughly enough and just enough was written to satisfy the article.

All the same. I enjoyed reading it.

I just started on upper body = shoulders, back, arms today. Couple hours later the soreness was setting in and I immediately had to lay down. I'm pretty sure I didn't overextended or anything. It's just new to my body to focus so much attention to those spots. So, a break will he had tomorrow 🙂

I did use a form roller actually. Just didn't know to cross my arms. So I'll do that.

Well, I still don't think I'm great…I'm ok. But it took me months to do a front hook. Frustrating, yes, but the greatest feeling ever when you finally do it. 🙂 Took an entire year before I was about to invert. It really depends on your body. No two body shapes are exactly the same. It takes patience and will power. I had to constantly try to remember not to compare my progress to others. Otherwise, I would've quit pole a long time ago. Not to mention feeling judged in classes from mean girls in classes. Time + Patience + Practice = You will suck less 🙂

    @Veena,

Does the speed change depending on height? The more gentle pole I tried was at least 10ft. My own is 7ft.

Aw, I was really hoping there was a simple fix to slowing it down. But this is an old pole. probably why its so fast. Thank you though. 🙂

    koidragon, btw, cute screenname! 🙂

Depends on the day with exercising. I pole 3 to 4 times a week for an hour. Before I get on the pole, there's 20 to 30 minutes of working out, whether its strength training exercises or aerobics. When I walk/jog that's for an hour, for me that equals about 10 laps or so around a track.

Eating habits…I hate health food. So I made what I usually eat more "healthified" less oils, less sugars, less salts, no fried foods unless its a special occasion, and that's not often. TONS of water. Basically, no fast food. I cook everything now.

    Closmo,

I do lift kettlebells, I walk/jog, aerobics, and pole. As far as diet, I lost 50 pounds switching to just serving sizes. I just to have pretty big portions or second helpings of things. This is no longer working. I'm told my diet needs to change again. I just don't quite know how to change it more than I have. Any thoughts?

Pole does work for weight loss. I lost 50 pounds. But, I did other things with it, mainly to build strength and endurance for pole. My first…I'd say 6 to 7 months, pole, diet change, and cardio had been working just fine. But I've met my threshold, I'm not losing anything anymore and I can't figure out what more I should be doing.
