my friend recommended this book to me…have you seen it? I figured I would check it out.
Aerial Dance …..and it comes with a dvd of performances as well…

haha…I wish my ceilings were high…
no they are only 12 ft high so I am doing what I can with the aerial yoga
this is where I ordered my fabric from http://www.aerialfabric.com/fabric.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I got Turquoise – it’s a bit darker than their photo and much bolder, the pic doesn’t do the colour justice – I am in love!
(we haven’t even bothered with the silks yet…the ceilings are not so high so its more about perfecting certain moves and wraps then anything with height)
The aerial hammock hangs from two points bolted into our load bearing beam, the basic set up is this: two carabiners are attached to the ceiling mount hooks. Heavy duty daisy chains hang from the carabiners. Each end of the fabric is wraped around a Rescue-8, then the Rescue 8 is attached to a carabiner, the carabiner attached to a swivel the swivel attached to another carabiner which is in turn cliped on to the daisy chain…does that make senses https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif lol ???
This web site has the basic pic of my rigging – the center pic
http://community.simplycircus.com/pdf/aerial_fabrics_faq_v1.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
my rigging is just from two points vs one…also I am using a daisy chain not a span set.

MemberJanuary 26, 2010 at 9:06 pm in reply to: More controversy for a intersting topic 🙂There are so many great and different versions of pole *dancing* or just pole or whatever we want to call it. So many people have their opinions and strong opinions at that (just look at us on this site https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif ) of what pole dancing is – or what it should be.
I would like to truly believe that lots just don’t realize there are other styles…and yes that is ignorant on their part but I guess it’s our job now to educate people lol. I can honestly say before I actually became interested in pole dancing I only knew of Strip and Chinese but never knew about the fitness style https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
This is what I love about pole dancing. I think that’s the beauty of the whole thing – everyone can take their version – their interpretation – whether it’s sensual, sport, Chinese, shoes no shoes etc and make it their own. There’s something for everyone.
However I also think the same reason I love it…for it’s various faces, diversity and styles makes it really hard to try to *standardize* it. I am still not sold that I want to see it in the Olympics as I feel the dance aspect and personal aspect which are important to me, might get watered down – but that’s just my feelings…Unfortunately I think until there is some sort of serious standardization the whole Olympics push is really far off.

MemberJanuary 25, 2010 at 9:09 pm in reply to: POLE SHOW LA @ Be Spun (Jenyne, Leigh Ann, Alethea, etc…)I was there and it was an AMAZING show! My favorites were Leigh Ann’s "Little Red Corvette" dance and Jenyne’s. Although I thought all the dancers were awesome https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumright.gif and I loved watching everyone — even the dancers during pole cleanings!
Only bummer was that I didn’t end up meeting anyone from here on SV https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif
Yup me too…I was there as well and wish I could have caught up with some more of the SV women I did get to say "Hi" to Drkfaery…we didn’t plan that well did we LOL https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif I am dying to hear how the workshops were the next day!
The show was great…Anjel with the fire with such strength/speed and beauty and quite honestly the best body https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif , Karol was liquid, so cute and loved her outfit, Leigh Ann starting on the fireplace was hot, The Pole Garage women were super cute with a fun well choreographed routine, Jenyne Butterfly is such an incredible entertainer – loved her act – she is so beautiful and looks like she truly loves dancing. All of the outfits were super cute and unique.
…and I really LOVED Marlo’s retro slightly rap act…I had never seen her dance but DAMN…anyone who can find a way to incorporate retro / pinup / rap AND glitter in her bootie shorts to sprinkle out during a dance has my vote hands down https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
