You could also try doing a search online. You might be able to find something telling you how to do it. Make sure you put in the brand of computer and camera. You could check YouTube too and if you find something good on there you could post it here so others could see. I hope you figure it out! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_ugeek.gif

Here’s the problem with the cheap pole like the electra pole and so on…Their not as safe! Even if it were more expensive it just doesn’t look like a good quality pole. If you want a pole for mostly exercise then you REALLY want a quality pole otherwise you could be injured. The others are mostly novelty. Peek a boo shows you all these fun move you can do on their "wonderful" pole BUT when you read the instructions it says you can’t put any weight on it. lol.You can’t even lean on it! I had a friend who bought one and we were so disappointed that we couldn’t actually use it. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif

Please don;t buy that pole!!! I have seen their video and it doesn’t look like a pole that will last very long. I know its tempting because its cheap but…I really wouldn’t buy that one.

Here are 3 poles I know others like and I would recommend. X-pole (of course) lil mynx or platinum stages. These are all professional quality poles.I’ll bet that the 99 dollar pole your looking at is made by the peek a boo company…if you’ll notice the font is the same…Hmmmmm.

One thing to remember in addition to the torso skin contact is the under arm…It will help if you stay in place better if you think of pressing the back of the underarm against the pole…not just trying to grip it with your arm pit. Sometimes we forget that pole dance uses a lot leverage. It may look like someone is simply placing an arm or leg on the pole but usually there is a lot more going on…like a push or pull. Do you get what I’m saying? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif Thats how we get our sexy muscle. Once your use to the move you can do it with out exposed skin on your upper body. Its a matter of learning which muscles to contract and where to put pressure on the pole. Also be sure your placing the pole far into the back of the knee squeeeeezzzze. and pressssss with that upper body https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

Veena I realize your very busy right now with the baby, but when things settle down a little bit more and you start making new video lessons, I have some requests If at all possible I would like to see the following: ( i believe you said you were planning on doing more when you had some time if not disregard rest of post)

    Death Lay
    Jacknife
    Hip Hold
    Jade Split
    Combos

    Thanks in advance! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_sunny.gif
I have all of these including the Scorpio handstand on my lesson list….One I didn’t have on the list was the Jack knife, but I’ll add it. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_sunny.gif

Oh, I do understand your position, it must be difficult being so far away from instructors. Is there any chance of doing real time online lessons via Skype? That’s the next best thing. I don’t know if Veena offers such a service at the moment?

I don’t offer online lessons right now. I have thought about it but.. web cams, Internet connections, along with time zone differences can create frustrations https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif I’m not sure if it would be worth the trouble. If I ever get lots of interest in people wanting online lessons I might consider it. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

January 10, 2009 at 6:16 pm in reply to: How’d you get into pole dancing?

I was always intrigued by "the pole" I don’t know why?? I had done a few amateur nights for the experience and just to get a chance to touch the pole…..it was calling me. lol. Well that was back when I had no pole experience what so ever but I still had fun! I had no idea there were people taking classes for this. Then one time I went to a party and they had 2 platinum stages poles there. As soon as I saw that I was beside myself with excitement. Once they started the music I was one of the first to jump on the little square shaped stage and I pretty much stayed up there the whole night. I had no idea what I was doing but people seemed to like it I even had a lady ask if I would teach her. lol

The next day my shoulder and every other body part was sooooooo sore butI couldn’t stop thinking about the pole….so I got on google and started searching for poles. I was so shocked to see you could by them for your home. I ended up choosing a platinum stages polished stainless steel pole……and here I am today https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

Oh bummer about the video twista https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif At least the BF saw it. I have done stuff like that before, now I always to a test run for a few minutes and then keep checking the cam off and on. I don’t know how many times I danced a great dance only to find out I didn’t hit the record button! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_twisted.gif

I think we decided on making it a monthly challenge….this will give everyone more time. A week just flies by for me https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif I’m waiting for someone else to post before I do…I don’t want to be first https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif

A video camera is a great investment not only do I use it for You Tube I also use it to keep our family updated on our Mobil Me account. We post Vids of Henry every week so they get to see how hes growing, the kids Bdays and we even posted our move out to CA and the new house. It makes us feel closer. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_sunny.gif

Don’t feel too bad. There are sooo many different names for the same move out there even I get confused!! Nobody (that I know of) has a glossary of all the moves and all the different names for them. I have had some request for a moves glossary so I’ll be working on that soon. It wont be up for awhile yet though. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif
