Your ceiling wont be a problem I’ve had my X on that type of ceiling….I didn’t even have any little pieces fall of but it could happen. It’s not a big deal though.
Shoes can help with learning to pole climb BUTI recommended learning any new moves without shoes just to avoid an ankle/foot injury if you fall. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif My favorite shoes are ellie but they seem to be narrow. Which is why I like them I have "ski’s for feet" LOL narrow and flat!! I buy my shoes off Amazon and depending on the company you can usually return them if they are the wrong fit. Remember they don’t sell half sizes. I choose to size down because they tend to stretch over time.
Now for the grip aids… I never use it….but for dancers with clammy sweaty hands it could be a real help when your learning. DON’T USE GRIP AIDS FOR SPINS!! Nice job jeng!! A lot of dancers find the cross Ankle to be a little more intimidating…..but less painful. The trick to a good solid CAR is getting the pole to rest on more than just one part of your thighs. A lot of dancers think you just grip with only the upper part of the thigh but to feel really secure in this move you need to position the pole along the whole inner thigh down to above the knee. In my lessons…I like to teach both the CAR and CNR from the floor first to get proper positioning without the fear of falling then move up a bit higher. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

Titanium x-pole are in either silver or gold.
Wait a minute!! Just to avoid confusion. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif X pole has 2 options as far as finishes go. Titanium which is gold coated. Chrome is silver in color. There is not a silver titanium pole…..at least not that we can get in the US. first of all..I don’t think your arms look funny. But if you do want some ideas I would use the arm movements you would be using when you belly dance. I think that would be a great addition. Try taking down and put it back up first…if that doesn’t change anything then I would call them their customer service very good…they should be able to help you. They X pole has a very smooth spin.
