I was told by webmaster it can really mess things up, If we keep changing user names. It’s pretty complex but the basic idea is.. the system can’t keep track of you, and you will not get emails or updates like you should and other screwy things can happen. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_ncool.gif So pick your names carefully https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif Most sites wont allow name changes.

One more thing….is it muscle pain?? (sharp, stabbing,) ect… or soreness? (achy stiff,) ect? Soreness it totally normal. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumright.gif

You can also try the elbow stand or hand stand against a wall, until you get use to the feeling of going upside down https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_shaking2.gif For upper body…try doing some strength moves in addition to your pole. Remember it takse time to build muscle and strength. Your muscles need time to rest and repair, so don’t use the same muscle group heavily every day, leave a day of rest in between, for muscle repair.

Also when doing the split grip, have the index / pointing finger following along the pole, this helps to keep wrist bones and such like in alignment and prevents carpal tunnel and other injuries. Ergo, keep it in alignment with your forearm, so they are in one long line.
Rouge is right about the index finger! So be sure your not trying to wrap all your fingers, all the way around the pole, like you do for a regular grip. Some dancers never have a problem with pain and the split grip, but I have so I need to be very careful, I’m not a lucky one https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif Also sometime (not every time) I will wrap my wrists with an ACE bandage, if I plan on using my 50mm (the larger size seem to aggravate the problem not my 45mm) for a long practice with a lot of straight edges, twisted grips and things of that nature.
Make sure you have fully warmed up your wrist and hands before you start spins and any heavy use of your hands. Dance around the pole for a bit first, do some wrist circles, get your hands warm https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
Remember to stretch your fingers and hands/wrist after you are though with your work out too.
Here is an exercise that will strengthen your wrist/forearm muscles https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rambo.gif

My Bday is in Sept. too Roxy!! I’ll be 32. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_geek.gif I thought for sure I would see all these really young girls just kicking ass https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rambo.gif in this sport, but to my surprise I found most of the fabulouse and well known dancers are over 30 https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif yes there are great younger dancers too but it was nice to see something really athletic that wasn’t dominated by people barley old enough to drive. LOL I feel stronger younger and healthier than when I was 20.
I have always felt behind the curve in any sport I wanted to do. So seeing women rocking to pole in their 30s and 40s was very exciting to me. I don’t have a background in anything https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cry.gif oh I take that back I was a cheerleader in school but it was one of those tiny rural schools so we *say in happy cheer voice* S-U-C-K-E-D. I always got on the team because I could do the splits and a cartwheel. lol I had also taught myself how to figure skate as a child. I got a book from the library and my dad would be kind enough to flood a spot in the farm yard so I could do my thing. I did take lessons in high school, but they put me in with the little kids so it was kinda embarrassing and I quit after a few weeks. I went back to skating in my 20s and taught myself again, this time from the Kristi Yamaguchi book. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_study.gif But quit again thinking I’m too old why wast my time?? I had always dreamed of training for some sport as a child….thats ALL I wanted to do, I was a silly kid! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_geek.gif

Oh Cali, I just read your post. I’m so sorry this is happening https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cry.gif I can’t imagine how angry and scared you must feel with your two kids and all. Just hug them extra close tonight! This can only make you stronger in the end. I’m sure there isn’t much we can say to make you feel better but just know we are here for you.*hugs*
