I tried to get a second opinion but the clinic would only let me talk to another DR on the phone, she didn’t have much help either, but at least she listen to me unlike the other guy. Still couldn’t get a referred to sports medicine though. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif So I seem to be on my own to figure this out.
Yes yogabeachbabe, thats an excellent idea, I have thought about acupuncture, I just have no clue where to go and who would be good? What do you look for in a good acupuncturist??

Veena that history you’ve just given makes it sound like brachial plexus compression! numbness, pins and needles, burning and tingling are usually associated with nerves… I’m surprised your doc sent you away, i’d def get a second opinion! Poor you, thats rubbish! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gifYes Azz, thats exactly what I was thinking last night, and would be the nerve that could get compressed during say… a no handed flag move?? Right? My arm started feeling strange around the same time that I was working those types of moves. I think that I really had 2 separate issues. I tried to explain it to the first DR but he wasn’t really interested.
1 the tingling from working on the holds, minor nerve irritation, or something.
2 the bicep/tendon strain at elbow….which I have no clue as to how it happened. I do believe its a muscle strain because the majority of the pain is right where the bicep and tendon meet around the elbow. I could be tendonitis too I don’t know!?My concern with number 2 is the old injury to the ulnar nerve…that it might be causing weakness in my forearm and tricep. Then causing an imbalance. I don’t know?? I really don’t know how bad nerve damage has to be before it affects muscle strength? Do you know Azz? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif
I saw one DR and he only tested the strength on the bad arm, and did not compare it to my good arm! Then I later convinced the clinic to let me speak with another DR on the phone and neither one would give me a referral to check on anything further. Because it is just a muscle strain they don’t see any need for any more opinions… and I understand that I guess, but I don’t want it to happen again. I know depending on the severity of the strain, you can have scare tissue and continuous problems if you don’t take your time to let it heal and work up to using it like before. I’m looking at possibly another month of rest and then I have to start slowly, it could be months before I can pull my body weight with it! I’m doing everything I can to heal it…ice, rest, and extra protein. If anyone knows of anything else that can help speed up the healing process please let me know.

AdministratorJune 3, 2009 at 5:21 pm in reply to: Fingers Stiff & Hurt Now That I’m Pole DancingAdamseve, how often do you pole dance? Does it hurt only in the morning after pole dance or just every single morning? Or are they painful and stiff all day? If your worried about something, its always best to go see your DR.
It is a very common complaint of pole dancers, when I first started pole dancing, my fingers hurt so bad I couldn’t grip a steering wheel!! Be sure your stretching your fingers, hands, and wrists after pole dancing that can help. If I take a week off and then start up again, my fingers along with the rest of my body will be sore and stiff too. I don’t know what your dancing/work out schedule looks like but, it might just be a matter of cutting back on some of the spin and invert work. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

ive been meaning to post this question for a while.
i get how to upload the pics and i made one of them primary but the little picture just doesn´t show up on the posts.
people who have been on the site for longer all have their little avatars and the more recent users don`t. ive also noticed that some of the older members´ avatars dissapeared when they changed to new primary fotos. i guess its not really important but i did like it alot before with all the avatars on the threads, it was nice to be able to put a face (or whatever image) to the names.
https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif frida https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gifI agree Freda. I wonder why the avatars arent showing up for some of us…
We are aware of the problem https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif Thank you for your patience. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_geek.gif You should still be able to upload, but your avatar just might not show up right now. -

Veena, could you possibly recommend some exercises to do at home? thanks
I do have strength training moves to prepare you body for pole dance in my online lessons, only one of them needs the pole (the pole up) with trains your upper back, but all the rest can be done with out a pole!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif There is also some nice stretching at the end of the cool down in the lessons. The best thing to do is train your whole body, in pole we use our whole body. You’ll love having a pole at home https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_sunny.gif -
I ordered a size up from what I normally get in dance shoes. I wear a 7 1/2 in street shoes, but all of my heels are 7 because they don’t have half sizes. I order these boot in an 8 and think I should have gone with the 7. I ordered mine off of Amazon. All of my dance shoes have stretched a bit so thats why I go with a size down…if they had a half size it would be perfect.

Just tighten the little screws on the very bottom of the pole..let me know if it worked.
-
Hey sissy do you mean the whole pole dome and all or just the pole part? If its just the pole I’m guessing you need to tighten the little hex screws…the ones that switch the pole from spin to static, if they are loose it will wiggle back and forth.

Oh Trena that sounded like such a fun time!!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif I wish I could have been there and it was super cool you were able to go to a pole comp! Don’t feel bad Foxy, my party was in my parents church basment, with a bunch of old ladies and of course, what’s a party without bridal bingo and watery red juice! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif Ahhh life growing up on a farm. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_porc.gif

I HAVE THOSE BOOTS..in purple of course! The heel is fine for dancing in, because it has a nice flat bottom, on the main ball of the foot part. The grip is fantastic, makes climbs super easy, just remember if your wearing sticky boots then there is always the chance you could get stuck on a move. I have had that happen going into the superman and almost did a face plant! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif I too suffer from chicken leg *braawck* these boots are a tiny bit loose, tiny and almost all boots are loose on me, I wear long socks under and then they stay up fine.
