Sound cool, but I wouldn’t put anything on the top of my pole, it could fall down on you or you could kick it, then you’d be seeing stars https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_shaking2.gif lol How did it attach?

Ahhhh the joy’s of Youtube. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_mad.gif I’m sorry some one said that to you. Don’t feel bad though, it happens to EVERYONE at some point if they post to youtube, your not alone. I average about 3 rude comments a week, just block the person and delete the comment, if you want…some times I just leave them, because they are so stupid, I think its funny to have others see how dumb the person is. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif Your beautiful!!

Alright, way to go. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif I’m glad to hear your not jumping https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_bounce.gif into the move!! Inverting is a fun thing, I second what Roxy said, keep you shoulders engaged! The more control you have over your invert the less likely you are to be injured. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

ITS NOT A MUSLCE OR TENDON TEAR!!!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif
I wonderful friend of mine and Chris’s told me to check out this guy she had seen before. He does orthopedic massage and he’s a certified instructor of Manual Therapy.
The DRs had me doubting myself, they had been say "it has to be a muscle or tendon tear" My gut was telling me otherwise…I know my body, and there was NO bruising, NO huge amount of swelling and no sudden pain. But non of the Drs would adress that, they only looked at the fact that I couldn’t use my bicep to lift any weight! arrrrg, they treated me like I knew nothing. The two sentences the first dr said that will stick with me are "well how do you know" when I told him its not my elbow joint popping but the tendon and at the end of my visit when he said I can’t not use my arm for 3 weeks and I looked at him almost crying and reminded him I have a 7 month old!! He goes "well what do you want me to do about it?" https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif Ok anyway getting past my disappointment with the dr….
This guy I saw today was FABULOUS!!!!! Its not a muscle tear….the drs had me freaking out thinking that was the only thing it could be. Everything he said made perfect sense and it confirmed what I had been suspecting! He LISTENED TO ME! It was just injured some how, could have been a move I did, or the fall I took with Henry while caring him in his car seat. My biceps muscle was super tight and pretty much wouldn’t relax, but it seems like the heart of the problem was my forearm. To put it plainly, the muscles at your elbow (pronators) that turn your palm to face up, well they are all crazy tight and mess up. I blame the twisted grip!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_twisted.gif I knew my body didn’t like that move, but neglected to listen to it. He also looked at my old nerve injury and said it seem pretty irritated and I don’t have to live with tingly fingers, it can be fix it just takes a loooong time for nerves to heal themselves, but its not impossible like I had been told by the DRs.
I believe in the power of the human mind and that we have a tremendous ability to help heal what hurts us. So I still shouldn’t use it to pull or lift things, but I can now take an active roll in getting better, and now that I know what muscles are affected, I will be able to teach myself how to prevent this. Sooooo happy!!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_sunny.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_sunny.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_sunny.gif
The prescription is…. movement, but easy, light eccentric (negative) movement, ice, massage. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

Its always a challenge to get past being scared of a move…or anything for that matter! Just keep working at it, you’ll get more comfortable with time. Always use a spotter or mat an moves you are unsure about, this can help you to relax and focus on the move and not the fear. I love to use couch or chair cushions because they are so big and fuffy!LOL
Now, about the cross ankle release, I have see some do it holding on to the pole with their ankles and not their thighs….it just seems really dangerous to me, I prefer the thigh method. I wouldn’t say you are learning it the wrong way is your using your ankles, but it just not my personal preference and I don’t think its the most common method. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

Standard size is 50mm (2inch) so most studios will have 50s and pretty much every single club will too. The 45 is great too if you are only interested in poling at home. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_sunny.gif

I’m so sorry you stressing….sounds like you could be prego, but make sure that do a blood test. You had mentioned your diet was not very good, well that along with long hours and stress you could be anemic, make sure you tell them how physically demanding your day is and that your worried your diet is lacking. Pole dance takes a lot of energy so a good diet is a must. Let us know how it goes, I hope your Drs treat you better than mine just did.
Sending you many cyber hugs….. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

Some other things to think about when dealing with the pain of pole sits, hip hold anything that pulls at the skin. Remember, it will be more painful if you are close to or have your period, https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_evil.gif pain tolerance is at its lowest point. Also don’t for get to breath….when we are in pain its natural for us to want to hold our breath, even more so if we are leaning something new! Focus on squeezing those muscle not the pain. Breath….it will get better https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

This is such a tough one for someone with older kids. My 4 are all still under the age of 8 so all of their friends are too. I have one of my poles set up in our living room and its the first thing people see when they walk in the door. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_geek.gif Its not my intention to have it so "in your face" but that is where it fits best in our home. Our neighbors kids have all been in our house and even played on the pole, their parents don’t care. I was very worried about them seeing it because even though we are in CA, my area is not totally cool with the "anything goes" mentality people think CA is know for. I’m pretty sure one dad is still trying to figure out if I was or still am a "stripper". I say stripper because I do on occasion think of myself as an exotic dancer. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif stripper I am not!
I do think its important to be who you are, and if you like to dance on a pole, well then trying to hide it is a disservice to yourself and who you really are. I feel like if we hide it in our bedrooms or where ever, then it seems like it is a deviant thing to do. Like that sex dungeon https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_batman.gif we all have hidden behind a trap door in our basements… https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif JUST KIDDING. I don’t think we should go around showing our older children’s friends pole moves, just like I would go hop on my weight bench and start showing them weight training techniques when they see that big weight rack and ask about it. I tell them what I use it for and thats that. But the more people who choose to talk about pole the better. If kids are giving other kids a hard time about it they could show them some vids of pole that are non sexual….but I’m guessing they may have already seen plenty of "sexy" pole vids on You Tube already, so I don’t know that showing them vids would be helpful. I tell everyone, my pole is just a piece of exercise equipment and its a great why to express myself. Porno’s are made with video cameras….does that mean everyone with a video cam is a porn maker? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif I love to dance sexy but its annoying that everyone thinks your kinking if you have a dance pole. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif
I’m just glad my kids aren’t that old yet, I will cross that bridge when I get there. So at this point I pole dance and I’m proud of it! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_geek.gif
