I’m sure you will have a blast pole dancing. Nice to have you with us!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

NO way do you have to start off thin to become a proficient pole dancer! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif I have seen many thin girls struggle with strength longer than the curvy some girls, so don’t worry about that. Pole dance is not just about the inverts and tricks anyway. Its about enjoying your body and having a great work out!! As far as no support from family….well my family wasn’t supportive of my pole dance either and look I have a website dedicated to it. So if you need encouragement we are here for ya https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

Oh yes, thats right Angle…I forgot there is an ACE certification for pole dance its a continuing ed class, and when I looked into it it was over in the eastern part of the US!! I don’t know if its still available. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

I personally feel that 3000 dollars is pretty expensive for any kind of fitness related certification. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif I think if you do a good job teaching word gets around about a studio.
I feel that with your degree in Exercise Science and doing an ACE or AFAA cert would be plenty! A good instructor understands body mechanics and injury prevention, all things you will learn with your current studies. You are an advanced dancer so I don’t know what the benefit of a pole certification would be for you. For ACE personal training and group exercise would be a good start. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif
I’m sure there are other who will disagree with me but, that just my thoughts.

Hello and Welcome!!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif You’ll get the hang of gripping the pole.

I’m sorry to hear your having trouble with your classes https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif You should always respect your instructors, its their job to keep you safe BUT you are paying them, and if the classes leave you board and unsatisfied then they should do something to accommodate you. If your not getting what you need out of the class maybe you could find a new studio, or do they have a different instructor you could work with? If you speak with them again about it, just be really nice, don’t go in and accuse them of anything, just let them know you really enjoy the group classes, but be clear that is creating frustration for you. Let us know if they change their minds. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

Definatly get heels with ankle straps https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif I really like my Ellie shoes, the chrome ones I wear are Ellie and they are my most comfortable. I have very narrow feet, so I’m not sure if someone with wider feet would like them. I also normally wear a half size in shoes, but in "stripper" heel they usually don’t come in half sizes, so I go down in size not up, because they tend to stretch a bit. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

Oh I think I will order some shorts soon. They look great and the price is good too! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif Is this your business Stella??

I try to place the pole right about where the "sit bone" is, so more middle butt cheek. hehe. I know Fleur has a video with her doing this move, and you can see the placement well because its close up, maybe if she see this she’ll post it, I can’t remember which one it is, https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif I think she posted it here.

The best placement for the Tail sit is off to one side of your butt cheek. Having some skin showing is really helpful…its not a good idea to have all the pressure on your tailbone or Ms Va jayjyay. OH THE PAIN!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif If you cross your leg over the top of your other leg, like your about to do a CNR then move into the position by tilting back on to the butt cheek, then uncross your legs…to get out of it just go in reverse…and be sure to cross the same leg back over the other one. I’m terrible at typing out instructions I hope you can understand it. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif

No need to feel bad at all. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_sunny.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumleft.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
