Roxy, if I was worried about the thread I would have sent you an email….I know my members are great and wouldn’t use it to specifically pick at someone. I seem to be pmsing myself so I’ll give it a go…..
I also don’t like the "no pain no gain" theory of some polers.
I don’t like it when pole dancers compare themselves to other pole dancers….everyone has their own strength and we all progress differently. I know I say this over and over….only compare your progress by YOUR progress, not the woman who started dancing the same time you did! *says with wagging finger* I was guilty of this and still am on occasion. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif
I am a wedgie picker!!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif It looks bad and…well it looks bad. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_geek.gif
I also hate how unprofessional some pole "professionals" can be. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif

Don’t be discouraged. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif Never compare your progress to other dancers!!!. There will always be someone who can do something better than you can. Think back on the first time you tried to pole dance? I bet your better now right? Judge your progress by your progress. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif
Don’t be to upset about the injury. I am an advanced dancer and personal trainer and I some how hurt myself!! I always warm up and stretch and know about proper forum….I still have know idea what I did, soooo it can happen to anyone. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_geek.gif -
Rest for sure if its a strain or sprain! Once your feeling better do some light strength training exercise and stretching then work up to pole dance slowly. Always remember to warm up your fingers, wrist and shoulders before beginning you pole dancing. Then be sure to stretch AFTER your dancing. If you have my lessons I include a warm up that shows you how to warm up properly. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif
Hope you feel better soon. Sometimes it only takes a few day to feel better, just be sure to take it slow once you do. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

AdministratorJuly 22, 2009 at 4:02 am in reply to: Too many health problems – it seems unfair =(Oh Natalie….I’m so sorry to hear about your pain and uncertainty. Sissybuns that was an amazing post, thank you for sharing. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif E hugs to both of you.
We are all here for you Natalie, and I’m sure that everyone who reads this thread will send healing thoughts and energy your way! Have you thought about trying alternative medicine? Mediation can do wonders for the mind and body, there are lots of books out there for both alternative healing and mediation. Even if these things don’t have an effect on the illness it can surely help the mind. I couldn’t hurt to try. One more thing I don’t know you, but I want to remind you…..Never think you deserve this or that you have done something wrong…..shitty things happen and usually to great people. We are here for you.

You can work on spin combos and if you know how, pole climbs are a fantastic way to build upper body strength for inverting. Enjoy the moves you know and work on putting them together in a dance, with floor work and transition. Pole is not all about the invert. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif Now that you have some spins under your belt dance, dance https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_geek.gif

Once your body gets use to the demands of pole and weight training you can bump it up a bit by doing pole more often. For now though, I would take it easy, an injury would mean no pole or weights…..trust me that SUCKS. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumbdown.gif Listen to your body and give it the rest and nutrition it needs. You will see an improvement in your poling once you start weight training. Have fun.

If you want to do full body then I would do something like this
weights
rest
pole
rest
weights
rest
poleI wouldn’t do pole and weights back to back. Let your muscles recover. But…..this schedule is assuming you would be doing inverts and spins, each time you pole.
otherwise…
If you wanted to do pole on your non weight days instead of rest, you could do transitions, floor work, flexibility. Easy, light, gentle movement is good after a hard work out. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

Ahhh yes, the frustration of fitting pole into a weight training routine. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif
You are right, pole is a full body work out. With that in mind you need to decide on what your focus will be. Pole or weights? If you go all out on both, you run the risk of overuse injury and burn out. Depending on how many work outs you have a week you could try poling only 2 times a week, having one of those days on a non lifting day and one on a lifting day, So you would pole before or after your work out, depending on what your goal is. If you focus is on strength do that first, then pole.
You could try doing an upper body and lower body split for your weight training. So one day lower and another upper, than the rest of the week is free to pole. Sooo that way you could still do some pole work on your lower body day., leaving only one day of just upper body training to work around. The possibility are endless….so think about what your focus is and go from there. Are you looking to improve your strength for pole or do you just miss going to the gym?
I love to lift heavy to and I use to do bi, tri, shoulders,…. back, chest…2x a week and legs 1x a week before I found pole dance. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rambo.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rambo.gif Make sure to give your whole body at least one full day of rest.
I now try to do one full body a week and then pole when I get a chance.

This one is the one I sent in…its really the only uncut video I have on youtube, most of my videos are cut because of the youtube music issues…so I end up finding different "youtube friendly" music to go over it. Its sooooo not the music I dance to but….its a full uncut vid https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

We haven’t received any notification yet on the TG X poles being in. So they are still out of stock. You could wait until morning to order just in case we get an update from X pole. I love my chrome 45 though. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_sunny.gif

i think i found a name…….wat do u guys think about"THE GIRL’S ROOM"?
I like that name!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumleft.gif -
I would highly recommend trying it without grip aids first. I have never used them. I tried mighty grip before and couldn’t stand the feel of it. I’m one of those that feel it can be done with out grip aids, work on hand strength. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rambo.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rambo.gif

I don’t have tiny hand I’m 5ft 8in and I love my 45!! I have a 50 and 45. I will check on the availability of the TG for you. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_sunny.gif

Your so lucky you have had a chance to play on the poles at your families club! That upper body strength will help you soooooo much. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumleft.gif Do you know what the poles at the club are made out of? Brass (gold color) or high polished Stainless Steel (silver color). If they are brass and you like how they feel, go with the TG X pole. If they are SS and you like that go with chrome.
So as far as size…. I would go with the 45mm if you think you want to dance only in your home. The smaller size can make grip for advanced tricks easier. If you want to compete or take classes elsewhere go with the 50mm. This is the standard size in clubs and most studios.
As far as finish….I had my first pole in the midwest. I loved the Chrome, it still maintains grip in the cold and gets nice and grippy in the summer. If you only want to do spinny mode go ahead an get the fancy Titanium gold because it has the best grip, so you can hang on for dear life as you spin https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_puke_r.gif this is equal to brass…almost as grippy, brass it the ultimate in grip. If you want to perform spins on a static non spinny pole go with the chrome. The TG can be too grippy to learn static spin on for some. New dancers tend to have a death grip when first learning to spin so gold can be too grippy. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_geek.gif
