I feel that a group fitness or personal trainer certification through ACE or another reputable fitness certification service is the way to go. It will cover anatomy and give you a good foundation for understanding proper and safe body mechanics and anatomy. From what I have seen of many pole certifications, I don’t feel they give you enough for the money you spend. Once you are ACE certified, they offer a pole dance continuing ed coarse you can take, the cost is far less than any other pole certification. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

No I don’t have plans for a DVD….The down side of a dvd is you can’t possibly put as much information on it as I can in my online lessons. There is only so much space on a dvd, but I can add lessons after lesson here. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif And I plan on it. The revised lessons I’m working on right now, are just the very tiny beginning of lessons I will have to offer. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumright.gif

You guys are lucky. I have an aweful time with my chrome finish. Does the temperature of the pole really make a difference? I had never heard of that before. I’ll have to check into it. Thanks!
Temp affects the pole big time. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif Cold poles are very slick. warm are great.

Get on your knees!!! Move into a position that will allow you to get onto your knees ( so if your on your butt, your can slide over on to your knees and move on from there like this… place one foot on the floor while the other knee stays on the floor, use your pole or keep your hands in front of you on the floor, to stable yourself, then slowly drag that other foot up behind you as you come to a standing position. Slow is the key, drag everything, your foot, roll your body up, head…everything smoooooth. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_sunny.gif

AdministratorDecember 3, 2009 at 4:25 pm in reply to: constant dull ache in my arms almost carpal tunnel feelingThis does happen to many pole dancers! You are not odd in anyway https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_geek.gif This is why I do not consider most spins beginner moves!!! Split grips can be one on the worst culprits, (they don’t have to be if done properly) I believe that for your body to handle the demands of most spins you need to have a better foundation before you start to perform them. Now, for some who has a very physically active background, forearm strength and over all body strength isn’t always a problem, but if you talking about someone who is new to pole and exercise then… preparing the body for pole is the safest way to start. This is way I suggest you approach my new lessons… I recommend that new polers start with the strength moves and THEN move on to beginner moves. You can check out my new free sample video on the front page, to hear my suggestions. Spins are VERY demanding on the body. I see the most injury complains when dancers work on spins and basic inverts, because these actions really require strength to be able to perform properly. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rambo.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rambo.gif
When you have a pain that doesn’t go away….(its normal to be sore and stiff), but it has become a constant dull or sharp pain, is a sign the you need to REST. Rest and look into some strength work with your pole. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_sunny.gif

If your invert isn’t strong enough, you will not be able to get your hips up high enough…..this will make hooking the leg and getting into the position very difficult. Go back and check out your basic invert guys….can you do it with a good amount of control… and once your up on the pole have you lifted those hips or are you hanging with your arms straight and butt low?

how about a song and dance that represents how you feel about the holidays? for instance… if they make you crazy have "crazy b*tch" by buckcherry playing and have your dance be wild with "crazy" tricks. hahha sort of a reach maybe… https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif
