Tennis Balls!!! You can use them to strengthen your hands and they are CHEAP. I'm not sure if you have the lessons here but I'll give you the link to a few exercises using them!

The basic idea is to first hold the ball with the palm up and then squeeze and release, this can be done with the whole hand or one finger at a time…then you can turn the hand palm down, (you'll have to keep the thumb on the ball so it wont fall) and do the same. Focus on lifting the fingers high off the ball. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_heart1.gif

With a lot of moves once you get it….then you just need to keep practicing. We can over analyze and hold ourselves back, most moves will not look perfect right away. I still take time to work on doing a pretty basic invert. This move takes strength in both the upper back and biceps (abs of course)…..if you let the arms go straight as your lifting it will be harder to get the hips up, and then the tipping motion can't follow through (with straight arms). Keeping up with strength work. Be happy you DID it, I'm proud of you, the rest will come. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_heart1.gif

@ purplequeen…I don't think you would be disappointed with my lessons. I have worked very hard on making sure they are super easy to use and follow. I have about 350 moves and full routines in the lessons as well. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

If your taking the lessons I cover a few different methods of entry and placement for this move, Using both hooked feet and open. The knee hold will hurt…but be sure your squeezing the hamstring of the top, hooked, leg so your taking pressure off the bottom leg. I think a common mistake is letting the bottom let take on all of the pressure. For the bottom leg…never place the pole on the knee cap or on the soft part around the knee cap. The pole should rest along the shin. https://www.studioveena.com/lessons/view/4d07835a-c7f4-46f1-87b1-630f0ac37250

All of the certs you listed are fine. I think the important thing to remember is to never stop learning. I am always studying new things (outside of what ACE provides) because in health and fitness things are ALWAYS changing. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

Thanks guys! @ Finreah, the stretching lessons are also in order so you can just do them in a row if you like. Read the descriptions because several of the stretches work the same muscle groups, so if your in a rush you can pick and chose to do only one stretch that targets say the hamstrings for example instead of doing all the stretches for the hamstrings. Everything is grouped together this includes the conditioning lessons too. All shoulder exercises are in a row, all Ab ect….https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

@ Kaygee10….if your looking for guidance the lessons here are set up in the order in which you should do them. the V Invert is not beginner in anyway so please be careful. The lessons even include strength and stretching for pole. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

Here is a lesson that covers an upright split grip, if your doing it right most of the weight is on the top arm. https://www.studioveena.com/lessons/view/18f06398-b91f-11df-856f-001b214581be

Try placing the arm pit up just a bit higher than you think you might need, (slightly above shoulder level) then engage the scapula and push the arm pit down AND back against the pole. This can lessen some of the pain of this grip. Just pressing straight back hurts a bit more I feel… https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_heart1.gif

You should be able to buy extensions that will allow you to use your pole at 11 ft. My x pole is extended to about 14 🙂 You could call x pole and see what they recommend. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif
