I was just about to ask If you knew about Ellen! It’s always good to check out several options. What didnt work for you previously might work now or later on! 🙂

You have a resource for stretching and splits right here as well. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gifI suggest working on the individual stretching lessons first, to learn proper technique, then move on to the routines. Train no more than 3 times a week. Unless you've been stretching regularly for years. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif https://www.studioveena.com/lessons/

You're smart for wanting to build strength!! If you're looking for things you can do at home with or without the pole, check out the lessons here if you can. I start you off with strength work first, and in addition to that, there's a section for pole conditioning exercises.https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

AdministratorFebruary 25, 2012 at 12:46 pm in reply to: Most common injuries and does the pole make you look too muscular?Hello and welcome!!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gifThe professional pole dancers do have very strong upper bodies, but keep in mind they do this for a living and train A LOT! I don't think any of them look too muscular, but then again I think muscles are sexy. Genetics always play a part in how muscular we look too.https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rambo.gif
For an amateur level pole dancer you'll find pole gives you a nice shapely body. When done properly you do not need to suffer injury either. Chem listed the most common injuries already….all can be prevented!!!

@ shona it wont stop all bruising, but because is sticks to the pole you'll be able to climb with less stress on the foot.
Willio, Cliimbing with both feet pointed will improve your strength for sure!!

If your taking the lessons, there are several stretches for the shoulders and the back, listed in the Stretching section of the lessons. These are all important ones to work on even if your goal isn't to become Gumby Flexy. lol Here's the first of 10 for Back mobility https://www.studioveena.com/lessons/view/4ddfb933-22f0-4762-b396-642a0ac37250

Have your therapist take a look at these conditioning exercises. There are 10 total that focus on proper shoulder/scapula engagement. Here's the first of the 10 https://www.studioveena.com/lessons/view/0225276c-b90a-11df-856f-001b214581be
For many people what FEELS right isn't always correct, this is why using a mirror or video so you can see what your doing can be helpful. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif
