Sounds like you’ve over tightened the pole.

Welcome to the website!! Oh, that sounds so frustrating! Chrome is one of those finishes that seems to be problematic for sweaty hand people. Avoid getting itac or anything that is sticky/waxy on your pole, those are more for people with dry hands. Dry hands is a good option, but you’ve tried that….Some people find mighty grip works. I’m not sure of any new grid aids for sweaty hands though.

To get all the stuff off the pole use a steamer! It will remove all the old grip aids and might help, at least for a bit. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RdjeYnLLaBw&t=15s

You have to find the beam, it can damage the ceiling if you don’t and it’s not safe. Use a stud finder or knock on the ceiling to find the beams and direction they run. If you find the beam you don’t need anything to protect the ceiling. I have rented for years and never had a problem with my xpoles damaging the ceiling.

I have a pair of their other leggings not the superhero. They are not super grippy on any finish, but I was under the impression that was intentional. I thought that the superhero were suppose to be far more grippy though, so that’s frustrating to hear!! Superfly are real grippy but they don’t fit me well 🙁

Hi welcome!!! We have rented many places for years and I even drill into walls and beams without issue. It’s easy to fill the holes needed for a pole mount. However, if you don’t want to drill and the beams are not fake you can just put an xpole there. You would center it on the beam using the dome it comes with. I like to use the mounts tho. Unless the issue with the beam is that the ceiling is super high? Not sure what your situation is. Anyway, if you can go with a pole, I have stages too and I just don’t care for the hard base with limited space.

Maybe you could try some chair work I have here until you have a pole?

    Anyway, welcome!

Buy the pole you can afford, as long as it’s not a toy pole. Xpole, platinum stages and lupit are all good poles. Beginners can learn on static and spinning pole, I teach both. So if you plan on using the lessons here you will have the ability to learn either. I personally love brass and teach newbies on it as well. So it’s really a matter of what you like. With all the different grip aids out there you will be able to find something to help if you find the finish you have is slick. If you have naturally sweaty hands avoid chrome. Not sure if this FB link will work but here’s a video I made talking about poles.https://www.facebook.com/studioveena/videos/10154144361229442/

Don’t wait until you get a pole to start conditioning! There are tons you can do right now.

Haha, ok. I was confused when I saw you we just inverting and a beg?int poler! I thought there are so many names for moves maybe it was a way of exiting from invert! Yes, the stands routine will very much help. Also work on handstands against the wall etc. The more you get your body accustom to being upside down the better. 🙂

I still don’t understand why some studios feel spins are beginner! Most people will need to strengthen before they can safely spin on static. 😉

You can try one of the 30 day programs as well. Even if you can’t do all of the tasks perfectly it will give you a guideline.

It looks like a matter of needing to build strength. It shouldn’t be done quickly…can you do an extended butterfly or butterfly? Being able to do those is usually helpful before working handsprings

If it’s a link you can just copy and paste. If you want to upload just select the video tab and upload… this can’t be done on a single thread it’s an upload to the video section.

I use different body positions for each of the different cartwheels/handsprings. Its not just the grips that are different. There are lessons for the Cartwheel mount, and Handspring, I suggest taking a look at the Half cartwheel and half handspring lessons first.

If you’re using a twisted grip I don’t suggest kicking up from standing when first working on a twisted grip handspring. Do if from off the pole as mentioned by Strangefox. Also understand that the twisted grip handspring from standing isn’t for everyone and a true grip or cup grip might be better. But even if you use the most neutral grip some might still find handsprings and cartwheels to be a move that doesn’t work for them.

Another thought….Just understanding the concept and steps of a move doesn’t mean you’ll be able to do the move within a few tries. Things like handstands take time. Practice the techniques over and over. Our bodies have to learn how to balance and this doesn’t happen overnight.

Feel free to post a video if you’d like us to give you more input 🙂

Awesome! If you’re wondering what to work on for strength building the 30 day take off program (as mentioned) is perfect or just follow the lessons in order starting with conditioning and strength. Also check out all of the routines, many are focused on building strength and conditioning. Keep you’re eyes open for a Halloween sale! When you purchase the lessons online you also have free access to the app.
