How are you doing on all your other one handed spins??? Having a good strong shoulder is a must…remember ALWAYS hold your shoulders back and down while you spin. Are you taking the online lessons? If you are then I would refer you to that vid and I could talk you though it more. If your not then I kind of have an example for you. I did a video about the chair spin…and its the chair spin that you can use to start yourself off with to get into the reverse grab. Here…

Here is a great exercise to strengthen and protect your shoulders.

AdministratorMarch 14, 2009 at 8:30 pm in reply to: buying an xpole – chrome or titanium gold?Hey guys I’m I chrome lover…..I feel if you can dance on what some consider "difficult" pole…like a chrome or 50mm than you will be able to dance on ANY type of pole. The biggest issues I feel as far as grip goes…….. body temperature and pole temperature and humidity. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
My first pole was a Platinum Stages stainless steel… not my grip preference but once I was warm and the pole finally warmed it was usable. When winter came around it was darn near impossible to use because my pole room was cooler and the air was dry. Once I moved up to a Chrome X the grip was so much better! Both in the summer and winter. I still love the grip of the Chrome X and I know Tara Karina has both the TG and Chrome X and she has told me the difference isn’t huge and she will probably go back to her Chrome when she’s able to put her pole up again. I look at the TG as a fun splurge for a pole dancer….its gold so its different looking but I’m just so happy with the chrome I have no desire to switch to a TG.

Your ceiling wont be a problem I’ve had my X on that type of ceiling….I didn’t even have any little pieces fall of but it could happen. It’s not a big deal though.
Shoes can help with learning to pole climb BUTI recommended learning any new moves without shoes just to avoid an ankle/foot injury if you fall. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif My favorite shoes are ellie but they seem to be narrow. Which is why I like them I have "ski’s for feet" LOL narrow and flat!! I buy my shoes off Amazon and depending on the company you can usually return them if they are the wrong fit. Remember they don’t sell half sizes. I choose to size down because they tend to stretch over time.
Now for the grip aids… I never use it….but for dancers with clammy sweaty hands it could be a real help when your learning. DON’T USE GRIP AIDS FOR SPINS!! It will tear up your hands. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif Clean your pole very well after using the grip aids because they really gunk it up.
I hope you enjoy this new fabulous art.

Nice job jeng!! A lot of dancers find the cross Ankle to be a little more intimidating…..but less painful. The trick to a good solid CAR is getting the pole to rest on more than just one part of your thighs. A lot of dancers think you just grip with only the upper part of the thigh but to feel really secure in this move you need to position the pole along the whole inner thigh down to above the knee. In my lessons…I like to teach both the CAR and CNR from the floor first to get proper positioning without the fear of falling then move up a bit higher. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif
